Chapter 91: The Truth.
Alaric had been so impatient in his wait for evening and when it did arrive, he didn't get any glimpse of Kira. Hours slowly rolled past and the night sky plunged everywhere into darkness. That was the cue that Alaric had been waiting for to dash out of the hotel and make his way to Kira. It took him quite a while, but eventually he made it. He arrived at the White mansion, it was exactly the same way he had left it, not like he was expecting any difference though. He made his way through the gates, there were no guards standing in position today, so he didn't need to answer any senseless question that would have only seemed to infuriate him the most. He came here for only one thing, or rather, only one person and he wasn't leaving here without her. There was someone standing in front of the door and then there was another figure standing at the bottom of the stairs that led to the door. On getting close he could discern the figures that were there. The person in front of the
Chapter 92: Her Choice
“There is a war that is hidden, burnt from every book, every record and it is all in the name of protecting humanity or whatever the higher-ups said back then. It had happened eighteen years ago, a few months before you were given birth to,” Mr. White continued with his explanation. “It shouldn't really come as a surprise to you, you should be aware of how different your body is compared to other people, how fast you heal, how quick you learn things that you put interest in, your instincts are probably sharper than that of all your peers and even some adults, better than that of the average adults,” he explained to lay emphasis on his point and Alaric couldn't say anything other than to look at the man in shock for knowing these things that he tried to dial down. Mr. White noticed the shock on his face, “ You shouldn't look that surprised, the reason why I know all these is because I have seen them in your father, so it isn't something new.” “Was he picked?” Mr. White shook his h
Chapter 93: Hybrid
Kira was sitting in the corner of her room, burning with anger, her eyes also stung badly due to the fact that she had been crying Who wouldn't? Especially after being hit with such a situation that her father took a hundred and eighty degrees turn from the best Dad she had known to the worst one ever. The sound of the door unlocking grabbed her attention, pulling her out of her thoughts, she stretched her hand forward and summoned Kairos with the command that he should lunge at whoever it is if it isn't someone he had seen her comfortable with. It was slowly pushed open and standing right there at the door was none other than her father. She sucked the air through her teeth in disgust and turned away, returning back to the corner she had been in.She didn't compress Kairos, she left him there to guard her from her father coming close to her and he did just that. Standing only a couple of feet away from her. “I have…” he paused for a second, taking in a sharp breath, “I have call
Chapter 94: The Answer He Didn't Expect.
Silence enveloped the rooftop, the only thing that could be heard was the soft sound of the gentle breeze brushing past their ears. Alaric awkwardly moved his weight from one foot to the other, his eyes darting around, unable to settle on Kira’s face for more than a second or two. He cleared his throat, and without looking at her face, “I won’t be able to sit with myself if I am to eventually discover that I… did something to hurt you.”“Taking time away from being around me and actually sticking with your dad’s plan of moving to the Imperial Academy might not be such a bad idea if you are to really think about it…” “... in the logical sense,” he added with a low tone, finally staring at Kira in the face. Her expression was quite hard to read, and she took a step back, which Alaric interpreted as fear, and he slipped both of his hands into his pocket and schooled his expression also, hiding all vulnerability that threatened to surface. “And also, if you’re scared of me, it isn’t t
Chapter 95: The Federal Representative.
The hotel’s lobby was filled with noises. Celebration noises to be exact. The students of Holy Mountain Academy didn’t hold back in their celebration of being the top school once again after three decades. Tristan weaved in between people with a glass of drink in his hands, evading people who were swaying to the sound of the music that was loud enough to shake the floor and make them feel it vibrating their whole body. Coming up to Alaric from behind, he leaned in to speak close to his ear so he could hear him, “You know, I didn’t really take you for someone who will smile at parties.” He noticed it, something was weird with Alaric, he didn’t notice the blank expression that is always on his face, it had been replaced by something else. And he had a small smile on his face almost throughout, he was close to the area they had all turned into a dancefloor, he was also talking to a lot of people. Even laughing with them, but he didn’t throw any moves with any of them at all. “
Chapter 96: The Price of Curiosity.
Everyone settled down in the room, Alaric chose to lean against the wall. The atmosphere was kind of weird, the headmaster wasn't smiling, and Josh wasn't smiling either, which led Alaric to wonder what the “Federal Council” meant.“Alaric, my name is Gregor, and just like your friend said earlier, I am from the Federal Council,” the mysterious man said. “There's no need for me to introduce myself, I am guessing you already know most of the things there are to know about me,” he replied after taking a careful look at him. Gregor cleared his throat. “You are right in that aspect, first things first, congratulations on your victory in the tournament.” “Thanks, but I am guessing that is not what you are here for.” Gregor shook his head. "Unfortunately not. Normally, my arrival here should have been to extend an invitation to you for the national tournament, but your beast has got some members of the federal council talking.” The reason that Gregor just spat out drew out a reaction f
Chapter 97: A Dangerous Secret.
Silence. The bomb that Alaric had just dropped had rendered all of them speechless, including Josh, who is rarely ever shocked. Gregor cleared his throat and composed himself. “I do not understand what you um… said earlier. Can you please repeat that?”“My beast is beyond Immortal grade,” Alaric repeated. “Are you sure? The highest grade ever recorded for years is Immortal Grade,” Gregor replied, disbelief heavy in his tone. “Yes, I know. Why do you think that I need you to agree to my conditions before I tell you?” Alaric questioned. Josh’s eyebrows shot up. “Yeah, that reasoning makes sense, but the grade is just hard to believe. Even an immortal grade beast is very hard to come across, and now you are mentioning a beast of a whole different grade?” “I know this will be hard to believe, but do you think I would have stated those conditions if my beast were of any usual grade?” Alaric responded with his own question. “Young man, are you sure of what you are saying? You will be
Chapter 98: Masks at The Celebration.
Alaric made his way back to the party, but he wasn’t really at the party. He was completely shut off in his thoughts, he was not the same person that he had been when he made his way to the tournaments, and he didn’t expect those changes at all. The only thing that had been on his mind was to win the tournament and win the bet, nothing else. But now, he just discovered who his father really was, he had turned the whole Vincent family around with the way the tournament had gone, and those were not even the craziest. He had also attracted the attention of people that seemed too dangerous, this wasn’t an activity that he was pleased with.Maybe his father’s real identity is the craziest among all the changes. He thought back to the conversation he also had with that representative a few minutes ago and he seemed to know every single thing there is to know about Alaric. ‘Does that mean that the man knows about my father’s identity and if he knows about his identity, then he would really
Chapter 99: The Crowned Bastard.
Alaric stared into the distance, zoning out and sinking into his thoughts again, and once again, he wasn’t allowed to dwell long in them. Kira was swift enough to snap him out of it. “You are doing it again,” she said, tapping him gently on his arm. Snapping out of his thoughts, he focused his attention on her once again. “What do you mean?” “You zoned out of the crowd and were thinking about whatever it is you were thinking about,” she replied, making gestures with her hand. “Oh,” he rubbed his neck softly and let out a chuckle, “I was lost for a minute.” “What were you thinking about? Your meeting, was it with the representative who left a while ago?” Alaric was speechless for a second, completely caught off-guard by that question. It was something he never saw coming at all. ‘How do you know?’ That was the question that was on the tip of his tongue, but he decided against it. She was from the White family, the family that controls this city, so it wouldn’t be much of a surpr
Chapter 100: The Prisoner.
The words that the matriarch said were enough to shut all of them up and plunge the room into silence once again as they were reminded of the dark times that they would rather forget.“Why are all of you quiet? Are you suddenly short of words and don’t know what to say now that you are reminded of your bitter past?” The matriarch asked once again. “She never ceased to amaze me even back then,” she added, shaking her head. “I have a suggestion on what to do,” Boyd said, cutting in and grabbing everyone's attention. “We know that lad’s secret, why don’t we throw him to the wolves, to the public, since we can’t take him down ourselves without attracting unwanted attention?” “Sell him out to the wolves?” the second male, Lawrence, asked. “Yes, it is a really good idea if you ask me,” Boyd replied. Morris let out a short laugh. “A really good plan?” he questioned and shook his head. “I can’t believe that is the best thing you can come up with.” “And I also can't believe that you all
