A PATH TOWARDS FAME AND GLORY
Justin did not answer immediately. The silence stretched between them like a loaded gun waiting to go off.Outside the gym, rain tapped softly against the rusty windows while the faint smell of sweat filled the air.Kyle’s chest rose slowly. He wasn’t joking.Justin could see it clearly now.The broken boy standing in front of him was slowly becoming something else entirely.Something dangerous.Justin leaned back against the bench and folded his arms carefully.“You really want an answer to that?” he finally asked.Kyle’s jaw tightened. “Yes.”Justin stared at him for a long moment before speaking again.“You know what separates monsters from men, Kyle?”Kyle frowned. “What?”“Choice.”Justin pointed at him. “People like Adrian… all those rich bastards you hate so much… they stopped seeing people as humans a long time ago. The moment you cross that line too, then there is no difference between you and them.”Kyle laughed bitterly.“That sounds nice and noble, Justin, but the world do
BLOCKED!
Justin looked at Kyle lying in the boxing ring. "Are you okay now?" Kyle tried to stand up but collapsed. Justin rushed towards him, a look of guilt spread across his face. "You should try and stay down, Kyle." He stared at him, and he could see he was bleeding. "Jesus Christ! You just don't know when to sit down. Do you?" Justin got out of the ring and walked towards the medic kit. He grabbed one of the boxes and walked into the ring. Kyle sat up, blood dripping down the angle of his face. "You know, being stubborn won't solve a goddamn thing! You should focus and watch your opponents move. That is the only way you can win." Kyle was silent. His mind went back towards the accident. "Oh shit!" Kyle shouted, getting up to his feet. "I have to go," he said quickly, grabbing his things. Justin looked at him like a boy possessed. One minute he was down. Feeling life was kicking him into a box, and now he was feeling like a boy without worry. "Where are you going? I need to stit
ZACK OUT OF DANGER ZONE.
Kyle looked at Dylan and was not sure if taking his hands and becoming a part of the family was a good thing to do. Eunice placed a hand gently on his shoulders. "I know you are scared, but why don't you let the adult take care of you?" There was a slight pause. Kyle stared at her face and was unsure. "I have watched many people die because of my name. I don't think I want to add you and Dylan to the body count." He replied. Dylan laughed. "Body count? "I am a certified lawyer, Kyle. I think my son must have told you that," he said with a chuckle. "Yeah. I know Mr. Efron. But I don't think that is going to save you or me when they come knocking." "Who?" Dylan asked Kyle was about to talk when the door to the ICU opened and Zack was wheeled out. Eunice ran towards the doctor whose lab coat was covered in blood."What is his current condition, doctor? Talk to me," she said with expectations. The doctor let out a gentle sigh. "We did our best, Mrs. Effron. I think it is left t
THE HIDDEN HOUSE
Kyle rushed into his car, and for a moment he simply sat still. His chest rose and fell steadily until he screamed out loud. He shut his eyes. Tears flooded them slowly. He could remember Zack's word of advice. The way he had counseled him, telling him to slow down and think. Maybe he was not thinking straight. Maybe Zack was right after all. Kyle grabbed the paper he had seen the night he followed Clark to the cabin. He touched his pocket and he could still feel it. Kyle knew one thing. He needed to find out why his parents were killed while Frank was back. First, he needs to get himself a good apartment. Kyle drove out of the hospital and headed towards the most popular real estate agency. The moment he parked his car and walked in, people stared at him. "Isn't that Kyle?" "The boy whose grandfather died?" "Are you sure it is him?" "He might look just like him." The whispers flew up and down, but Kyle didn't seem to care. He walked straight towards the receptionist, wh
A NEW KYLE
Kyle laid flat with his chest to the ground. His eyes tried to see what was going on, but then he couldn't. At first, it looked like a robbery incident, but it dawned on Kyle that he was the target. "Where is he?" one of the men shouted. "Who is Kyle Cross in here?" The tension rises as many of the men and women fidget. Each of them kept their faces to the ground. The receptionist looked at Kyle from where she was. Her face showed she was scared, but still, she didn't want to.GBAM! Another round of bullets went into the upper roof. The woodwork holding that pillar came crashing down instantly. "This is going to be my last words. If he is here and you decide to keep him, then you are all going to be killed!" he yelled again. "One!" "Two!" "Three!" "Four!" He was about to call the next number when Kyle stood up. The man walked carefully towards Kyle. "You have been here all this while, and yet you refused to come out?" he said with anger. SLAP! His hand flew across the ai
AWAKENING OF A NEW POWER
"How is that even possible?" "Did you see that?" The whispers grew the moment everything was at peace. Kyle groaned in pain. His vision was a little blurry as he collapsed onto the floor. His breathing was a bit difficult, but yet, he could feel this strange energy that was circulating through him. The door sprang open and the possible swing into action. But everything has already been taken care of. Kyle let out a shaky breath before he shut his eyes. “Clear the area!” one of the officers shouted immediately.Heavy boots thundered across the floor as armed policemen stormed into the building with rifles raised. Flashlights swept across the destroyed interior. Broken tables. Bullet holes. Blood stains. Unconscious robbers sprawled across the ground like lifeless dolls. The entire scene looked unreal.“What the hell happened here?” a young officer muttered under his breath.Nobody answered immediately. The civilians still looked too stunned to even speak properly. Some of them r
UNIMAGINABLE POWER
The noise coming from the flat television woke Kyle up. His face scanned through the living room.Where am I?His heart beat so loudly. His gaze went to the wall, and he saw Clark's picture frame hung on the wall. Clark walked in a moment later, cleaning his damp hair. "Ah, you are awake," he said with a smile."What happened?" Kyle asked immediately.Clark stopped, his gaze fixed on him. "You didn't remember?" Kyle shook his head gently. "I don't. How?" "How what? That you found yourself in my house?" Kyle nodded. "One minute I was..." His head rang like a bell. Kyle groaned softly, his hands grabbing his head. "It hurts," he said slowly. Clark moved away from the door towards the table not too far from him. "I know you are going through a lot, Mr. Kyle. But I didn't believe you could manifest your power like this," he said, stealing a quick glance at him.Kyle looked at Clark, not sure of what he was saying. "What powers?" Clark grabbed a glass cup of water and a whitish t
THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HOWARD'S FAMILY
"I am not killing anybody!" Kyle said in anger. Clark walked closer to him when he saw he was more stable. " Stop! Don't you even think about it." he said with a frustrating look. "You don't seem to understand do you?" Clark said with a frown. Kyle said nothing. The disbelief on his face slowly faded into something darker. Fear. Real fear. Clark noticed it immediately. The air inside the room suddenly felt heavier, almost charged. The broken television sparked once before finally dying completely. Tiny cracks spread farther across the wall beside Kyle like invisible pressure was crushing it from within. “Kyle…” Clark said cautiously. But Kyle barely heard him. His mind was spiraling. People were dead. His stomach twisted violently. “I didn’t ask for this,” Kyle muttered under his breath. Clark folded his arms calmly. “Nobody asks for power.” Kyle looked at him sharply. “Stop talking like this is some gift!” “It is a gift.” “It’s murder!” Clark’s expression rem
BACK TO SCHOOL
Kyle could barely concentrate. A gentle reminder of what he had done kept playing back in his head. The look of horror on the last man he killed couldn't stop haunting him. Most of the students heard what happened already. Some of them whispered behind his back while some avoided him.Kyle couldn't believe the same set of students who had worshiped the ground he walked on could suddenly try to isolate themselves from him. Kyle looked at his hands again as he sat alone by the school garden. His back was rested against a tall sycamore tree. "What am I slowly turning into?" he said with his eyebrows furrowed. Zack was still in between life and death, and there was literally no one he could talk to. "Hey." A voice said it right behind him. Kyle turned to see easy Belinda. "Hey you," he said with a forced smile. "Are you alright?" Belinda asked. "You look like you have the weight of the whole world on your shoulders." Kyle looked away. He was a mess at the moment. He had just m
MYSTERY POWER
Stephan remained on the ground coughing violently while the rest of the students nearby stared in complete disbelief.Nobody moved. Nobody even dared to speak.Kyle could hear his own heartbeat pounding loudly inside his ears.Thump.Thump.Thump.The strange energy inside him still hadn't settled. It moved beneath his skin like electricity searching for a way out.One of Stephan's cronies slowly got to his feet, his expression filled with fear. "W-what the hell was that?"Kyle took a step back instinctively."I..."He didn't even know what to say.How was he supposed to explain something he himself couldn't understand?Stephan finally forced himself up while holding his throat. His face had gone pale, and his arrogant expression was nowhere to be found anymore."You..." Stephan pointed shakily at Kyle. "You're a freaking monster."Those words hit Kyle harder than expected.Monster.For a second, the image of the dead men flashed through his head again.Blood soaking the floor. The so
