CHAPTER THIRTY-ONEFor a few seconds, no one said anything as Caelen stood in front of James who maintained a smirk on his face, showcasing the wrinkles on his face that complimented the gray hairs that grew like patches on his partly black hair.“I think we should all get seated, Gentlemen.” Nick broke the silence that was lingering in the room, gesturing to everyone to sit down.Caelen was the first to grab a seat, he pulled the black seat at the end of the table meant for the position of the CEO and sat down slowly before he rested his hands on the table, and sighed heavily. His uneasiness lingered, and so did his curiosity and the fact that he wasn’t sure of what he was doing. He looked at the four men who slowly sat down on their seats, and he could see the looks of displeasure that were written all over the faces of James and Maurice who reluctantly grabbed their seats and sat down.Maurice brought out a brown cigar from his jacket which he lit and took several puffs from withou

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWOReluctantly, Maurice put out the fire at the bottom of the cigarette and returned it to the pocket of his jacket while everyone watched amidst the embarrassment that refused to let go of him. When he was he lifted his stoned face to look at Caelen who nodded in satisfaction while he maintained the smirk on his face.“Well done, Mr. Amber, you have done well.” Caelen chuckled softly, and then he turned to look at the Manager who drew closer to hear what he was going to say, following his gesture of beckoning.“I think we can begin the meeting in earnest. I am certain that these Gentlemen here have some other important things they would love to attend to. We cannot keep them waiting for so long.”“I understand perfectly, Lord Caelen.” Nick bowed slightly after he had turned to completely face Caelen who nodded in response.Nick took in a deep breath which he let out slowly, and when he turned to look at the four CEOs who were waiting to hear from him, he cleared his t

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREEJust before he continued speaking, Nick cleared his throat twice just before he spoke with a low tone that almost sounded like a whisper.“This is a record of all the employees that have worked in this company, and those currently working here, beginning from the Managers to the Janitors, and even the security guards. Their personal information is detailed in this folder.““Right…” Caelen nodded while he gently dragged the blue folder close to himself and glanced at the files inside it, flipping randomly from one page to the other.Realizing that there were over three hundred profiles in the folder, Caelen lifted his head slowly after about ten seconds to look at the Manager who was still in his posture.“I think I would have to go with this, and this as well. I would have to take my time to go through them.”“That would be a good idea, Lord Caelen.” Nick nodded at once, turning to Wendy whom he gave a signal to, causing her to quickly walk up to the table.“Wend

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOURA few seconds after Caelen walked away from the conference room, Nick hurriedly followed him, and in the seconds he caught up with him, he turned to look at him with a smile on his face.Michael walked ahead of him alongside some of the bodyguards who were hanging around the hallway that led to the elevator.Just when he was about to take a step closer to the elevator doors, Caelen noticed that the Manager was standing beside him, and he turned to look at him.“I hope there is no problem, Mr. Raven.”“Not at all, Lord Caelen. There is one more thing…” Nick said with a whisper, gesturing with his index finger while Caelen stopped almost immediately alongside Wendy who was trying to make sure she maintained the same pace with her even though she regretted putting on those black heels that she bought recently.“What could that be?” Caelen asked almost immediately, looking at Nick who was trying to get a grip on himself after he had done a little exercise while trying

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVEThe ride from the premises of the company back to the Castle took about thirty minutes as the cars moved through the busy roads occupied by other road users who were also on their way to their various destinations.Wendy stoked interval glances at Liam, waiting for the rogue opportunity to start up a conversation, but Liam’s deadpan countenance gave her no chance to say even a single word.“Miss Cocker?” Caelen turned to look at her while they were getting really close to the avenue that led to the castle.“Yes, Lord Caelen,” Wendy answered with a bright smile on her face, unintentionally showing the excitement she felt from hearing her name from the young CEO’s mouth.Caelen waited for a few seconds while still trying to find out the reason behind the excitement on her face.“How long have you been working in the company?”“Three weeks, Lord Caelen. Just three weeks.” Wendy responded while still maintaining her smile, nodding almost at the same time.“I see…” Cael

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX Caelen pushed himself up from the bed, turning to look at Xerxes who was still standing close to the wall behind the bed with a smile on her face. “I wonder when I am going to get used to you showing up on me like that.” Caelen sat on the bed, looking at Xerxes who slowly walked up to the bed and sat down beside him. Her smile showed so much excitement, causing Caelen to forget that she had startled him a while ago to focus on the strange look on her face. “You seem unusually excited, Xerxes.” “Oh, you noticed.” Xerxes chuckled excitedly, looking at Caelen who was hoping that she could give her a solid reason behind her unusual mood. “Did you also notice something else, Caelen?” Xerxes lifted her eyebrows while she maintained her smile, waiting patiently to hear what Caelen was going to say. “Am I supposed to notice any other thing? I am not sure I can be able to read minds.” “Look closer, Caelen. What you seek is right in front of you.” Xerxes blinked severa

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVENXerxes’s countenance showed intense struggle while she tried to make up her mind over what she was going to tell Caelen who was paying keen attention, and wanted to hear whatever she was going to say to him.“I see that you are eager to get an answer, Caelen,” Xerxes said calmly and smiled at Caelen who remained silent with so much eagerness to hear what she was going to say.“Your parents both originated from lines of supernatural Creatures. Your father was a powerful wizard, and your mother, your mother…she was a nymph who had special abilities. They were blessed by the Divine, but their love was forbidden.”Xerxes paused for a while and took in a deep breath which she let out slowly before she continued with a low tone.“They had duties that they were obliged to carry out in their different worlds, but they decided to abandon them for the sake of the love they had for each other. The safest place to hide was on Earth, this realm where supernatural creatures cou

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHTAfter a few hours of sound sleeping, Caelen woke up from sleep and stood up from the bed. He went into the bathroom and took a long shower before he put on fresh clothes walked out of his chambers and headed to the dining hall.“Good evening, Lord Caelen…”“Good evening, Bianca” Caelen greeted the middle-aged lady who was standing by a corner of the dining hall, smiling with her hands clasped together.“You are right on time for dinner. I was almost about to ask Mr. Michael to knock at your door.”“Oh, I see…” Caelen sighed softly while he reciprocated the smile from the middle-aged lady.“Well, I am here now. What do you have for me?”“Why don’t you just have a seat and find out yourself?” Bianca gestured to the table, and Caelen grabbed the seat by the right end of the table and sat down slowly. He adjusted himself almost immediately and placed his hands on the table.“Well?” He turned to look at Bianca who quickly grabbed the dish cover to reveal the food insid

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINEBianca bowed slowly, and then she walked away while Caelen looked at her until she was out of sight. He sighed softly and returned his face to Wendy who was almost done eating the little portion of food on her plate, and dropped the fork she was holding in her right hand as soon as she saw that Caelen was looking at her, pretending not to have been enjoying the food.“Miss Cocker, you seem to be enjoying the food, I guess it isn’t as bad as you said it was.”“I just had to manage it, Lord Caelen. I didn’t want it to seem like I wanted to waste it. I promise that there are better ways to cook this. I can prove it to you by bringing some for you tomorrow.”“Oh, no. There will be no need for that, Miss Cocker. I am totally fine.” Caelen retorted at once, and with a smirk on his face while Wendy sighed in a little disappointment even though she already knew that Caelen was going to decline her offer.“I think you should finish your food before it gets really cold, I do

CHAPTER FORTYCaelen walked into his bedroom at once, and when he was about to move to the bed, a thought crept into his mind, he slowly walked up to the cabinet close to his bed, opened the drawer, and pulled out the golden dagger which belonged to Circe.Sitting on the bed, and carefully holding onto it with his right hand, he looked at it for a while, observing the unique carvings on it, and the fact that he had never seen a knife as sharp as it, not even the ones used in the restaurant where he worked as a waiter.“What is so special about you?” He whispered to the dagger as though it could hear him, looking at the sharp edge, and wondering the kind of steel used in making it.“Xerxes mentioned that it was forged by the dwarves and was one of the greatest weapons of all time. This is so handy to be a great weapon.” Caelen pushed his index finger on the sharp tip of the dagger, and it stung him at once, causing him to grunt at once while he looked at the spot on his finger where th
