CHAPTER FORTY-ONECaelen felt a strange sensation inside him as he was sucked into the portal that took him to an unknown destination. The first sight that attacked his eyes was that of darkness that had no iota of light until he began to see tiny stars that appeared slowly from the sky.“Caelen!” The male husky voice came again, echoing all over the ambiance, and making it very difficult for him to focus while he struggled to know where the voice was coming from exactly.Slowly, he landed on the hard floor that was covered with darkness, still looking around amidst the silence that surrounded the entire place as soon as the voice was done echoing.“Caelen? Come forward. Come…” The voice echoed again, causing Caelen to turn around slowly, but he was still unable to find out where the voice was coming from.“Who are you? Where am I?” Caelen turned around for the umpteenth time, still looking around while he struggled with the bemusement that engulfed him.He continued to listen with fu

CHAPTER FORTY-TWOCaelen stared at Lord Raul as he walked toward his throne, his hands were clasped behind him, and he walked very slowly as though he was waiting for Caelen to join him. When Caelen saw that Lord Raul was getting farther away from him with every step he took, he had to go after him, increasing his steps as well just to make sure he caught up with him.Lord Raul continued walking until he got very close to his throne before he stood still and turned toward his right with a smile on his face.“I want to take you somewhere, Caelen. Somewhere I think you need to see…” Lord Raul said with a low tone while Caelen stepped forward, eager to know where he was going to take him.“We need a ride to that place. Hold on, I will get us one.” Lord Raul lifted both hands in the air while Caelen looked up with a little nervousness, thinking that he was going to see the huge dragon that he dreaded.Instead, a bright light appeared in the sky, and two white-winged horses appeared at onc

sCHAPTER FORTY-THREELord Raul walked up to Caelen who was still waiting for him to give him a response, and when he got really close to him, stood beside him, he sighed softly.“The Dark War, Caelen. This was where it happened.”“Here…” Caelen sighed softly, taking another look at the ruins that were scattered all over the place.“The Dark War sealed the fate of the infinite forest, the elementals were disconnected from their guardians, and hidden in places far away from the forest. This caused the darkness that loomed all over the forest.”Caelen paid keen attention to Lord Raul as he spoke. When Lord Raul said the last word, he took another look at the castle and returned his gaze to Lord Raul after a few seconds.“Darius caused the War I suppose.”“Mmh-hmm.” Lord Raul nodded at once, and when he had managed to get rid of the frown that appeared on his face after he heard the name Caelen mentioned, he spoke in a low tone.“Darius was one of the best guardians chosen by the Divine.

CHAPTER FORTY-FOURThe moment Caelen heard Xerxes’s voice behind him, he turned around to look at her with a look of surprise on his face.“Xerxes?”“Hello, Caelen. I knew you were going to do it, I was certain of it.” Xerxes wore a pleasant smile, and after she chuckled softly while looking at Caelen, she turned toward Lord Raul, who also wore a smile.“Lord Raul?”“Xerxes? You were right, he certainly is the right one for the task. I had my doubts about him, but seeing what he just did, I am convinced that we made the right choice after all.”“I told you so, didn’t I?” Xerxes asked Lord Raul, who nodded in response, his smile unpaired. He turned to look at Caelen who was looking at them with several thoughts running through his mind.“Caelen? Are you still here with us?”“So this was a test?” Caelen asked with a whisper, looking at Xerxes who refused to say even a word while she continued staring at him.“This wasn’t a test, Caelen. I was just being spontaneous and wanted to satisfy

CHAPTER FORTY-FIVECaelen paid full attention to the vision Lord Raul showed him, focusing on the six heirs seated on their different thrones. He could recognize Lord Raul who seemed to be their leader and was the first to speak. The rest of the heirs were looking at him, obviously, they were waiting for him to speak while he slowly stood up from his throne, adjusted his throne, and cleared his throat before he began to address them.“I welcome you all to this meeting. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you, knowing fully that you all will be occupied in your different realms.”“Lord Raul, tell us the reason why you called us. We do not have all day to be here, and as you rightly stated, we are very busy. This isn’t the actual time when the heirs are supposed to be gathered.” Said a tall man with an imposing stature and a brown mustache that stood tall and curved above his mouth. His red eyes portrayed evidence of his vile nature, and his desperation to conquer and

CHAPTER FORTY-SIXCaelen woke up the next morning with thoughts of the events of the previous night lingering in his mind alongside the appointment he had with Jerry Johnson at the school storehouse. He spent almost half of the day doing nothing apart from eating and making plans while he took some time off, scrolling through the content he saw on social media.Eventually, it was time to leave for school, and he got ready at once, carrying his dagger along with him just in case he was going to have any need for it.Clad in comfortable attire, and with black boots that he was certain he could run with, Caelen walked out of his chambers with his phone in his pocket, and the dagger carefully tucked into his pants. He descended the stairs slowly, and while he was halfway to the ground floor, he saw Gladys and Monica standing very close to the rail as though they had been waiting for him.“Is everything alright, Ladies?” Caelen stared at them curiously, not sure of what to deduce from the

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVENCaelen adjusted his clothes while he looked at the Chauffeur through the window of the car. He could see the look of worry on his face, but that didn’t stop him from smiling.“Don’t worry about me, Andy. I will be alright, okay?”“Mr. Michael said I should make sure that you are alright,” Andy said with a nervous tone, looking at Caelen who chuckled softly without looking away from him.“Don’t worry, Andy. I will be totally fine, I promise. Just stay close to your phone, I will call you once I am done, okay?”“If you say so, Lord Caelen,” Andy responded with a whisper before he grabbed the steering wheel with both hands and sighed heavily.“Go on, Andy. Go get some rest.” Caelen tapped on the body of the car while the Chauffeur reluctantly drove the car out of the school vicinity at a slow but steady speed.Caelen and Jerry looked at the car until it was almost out of sight before Jerry got rid of the silence between them.“Is that one of your cars?” Jerry asked ex

CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHTCaelen waited for a few seconds, but Xerxes refused to say anything while he continued scouring the entire corners of the library, looking at the books and the scrolls that were balanced on the shelves hanging on the walls. Some of them were way up high and the staircase built on the walls needed to be ascended before getting to them.“Xerxes? You are not saying anything.”“Follow your heart, Caelen.” Xerxes retorted at once, causing Caelen to scoff at once, not sure he was satisfied with the response he got from Xerxes.“How is that supposed to help, Xerxes? I don’t even know what this book looks like, and it would definitely take a while before I can find it.”“The amulet will help you, Caelen. I do not doubt that you will surely find it. Follow your heart, Warlord. The book is closer than you think…”“Who are you talking to?” Jerry’s voice startled Caelen almost immediately, causing him to turn to look at him while he cleared his throat, pretending not to know w

CHAPTER FORTY-NINEThe bright green light on the necklace had stopped shining, and it also stopped vibrating, but Caelen could still feel the strange sensation that was drawing him toward the opening. He looked deeper into it, and he could see a bridge built across two cliffs. It was made of wood, but there was no guarantee that it was still strong as the ropes attached to it were old and rusty. “Are you going in there?” Jerry asked with a nervous tone, looking at Caelen who turned to look at him without saying a word.“Caelen? I think this is a really bad idea.” Jerry said at once, looking at Caelen who was walking toward the bridge with slow but steady steps, looking at something that looked like a cage at the other side.“Caelen? Wait! Listen to me!” Jerry tried to call out to Caelen, but he ignored him and continued walking slowly, being very careful not to fall off the bridge. After a few seconds, Caelen stopped while he held onto the ropes attached to the bridge, and then he tu

CHAPTER FIFTYCaelen agreed with the words he heard from Jerry because he had gotten what he wanted and felt he didn't have anything else to do inside the library.“I agree with you, Jerry. Let’s get out of this place.” Caelen started heading toward the tunnel while Jerry followed him at once, looking around anxiously.“Hurry, Caelen. I can still hear those voices, I think we are not alone inside here.” Jerry walked very close to Caelen who was already a few meters away from the tunnel when they heard the sound of footsteps running through one of the aisles in the library.“Did you hear that?” Jerry turned at once, looking around the library, but everything was just the way it was.“I heard it too, Jerry. Do you think anyone is here with us?”“I don’t know, Caelen. But I told you that I could hear voices.” Jerry said with a shaky voice, looking at Caelen who scoured all the corners of the library that were visible to them, searching for whatever made the sound.“We have to leave this
