CHAPTER 11 Vivian’s lips started to vibrate. “T—that’s because I’m the cook. A good cook. Y–You can ask the manager. She can testify.” Her head snapped toward Rita. “Right, ma?” But the latter didn’t even respond. She stared at her, looking like one who is deaf and dumb. Vivian gulped, sweat clouding her face. “Yes. " The customer…..” she quickly ran to one of the customers who was in her mid-bite, “The food is okay….I mean delicious, isn’t it? The latter just gave a curt nod, returning to face her meal. Her expression said it all, ‘Please go, I don't want any trouble.’ Vivian hurried back, still dropping to her knees. “....Sir, you see? They love it. She just confirmed it.” She nodded, stuttering. For a moment, David just stared down at her, a light smirk parting his lips. Who would believe such a day as this would ever come? A day that Vivian would be kneeling before him and begging? Who? David shook his head as if pitying her. But then, his smile ceased. His expression

CHAPTER 12 Meanwhile, in a nicely arranged, cool, and calm office, sat a vibrant woman dressed in a crisp white dress and a blouse. Her polished shoes shimmered under the bright daylight. Her hair was neatly packed, her fingers moving with precision as she gently flipped through pages of documents, her undistracted eyes scanning them thoroughly. As she sat quietly, reviewing the documents one after the other, the door suddenly, but gently creaked open, breaking the silence in the room, and a man formally dressed walked into the office, softly slamming the door shut behind him. The woman paused mid-flip, attention slightly divided now. She raised an eyebrow, taking in the figure. The man strode forward, his well-polished black shoes clicking softly against the tiled floor. “Good morning, ma," the man greeted, bowing his head, hands behind, "you called?" The woman tilted her hand, pointing at a seat opposite her. “Yes. Please, sit, Everett." She said, This woman was no other than

Chapter 13Back to the restaurant, the man looked up and immediately shook, terrified to see Daniel standing over him. His hands trembled, the spoon in his hand crashing down to the plate. His gaze shifted, landing on the bodyguard with a stern expression, hands folded. The man's body tensed and he immediately dropped to the ground, kneeling in front of David, hands clasped. “....P—Please, spare me,” he sobbed with vibrating lips, tears welling in his eyes. "What happened earlier was a mistake. I let pride take over. Please, I'm sorry." David smirked. “Really? Thought you've got everything—influence, wealth, and so on. Didn't you threaten to get me fired a few minutes ago? Why beg like a baby now?” He replied mockingly. The man swallowed hard. Other customers who had protested that David should be sacked before he arrived at the restaurant, shifted slightly on their seats, terrified. “Is it because you know my true identity now?” David continued, his gaze growing cold. Chapter 14 Meanwhile, in his own office, Everett sat down on a swivel chair, smiling triumphantly as he rotated from one side to another. The deed has just been done. After his conversation with the chairman some few hours ago, she had heeded to his words and had served a sack letter to the employee that Everett mentioned. The other workers were astonished and they started to murmur, lost in thought. That particular lady was one of the most regular and punctual employees so they wondered why Everett would do such a thing. However, they zipped their mouths, afraid to confront. Still seated, Everett crossed his leg, his smile growing wider as he tapped lightly on the table in front of him. “It’s successfully done,” he muttered, his gaze flicking up to the ceiling then down. "Told her I was going to drive her out after she refused, but she thought I was joking. Now, it's done. No one dares mess with me.” He added, his voice laced with pride. Then he reached out to his phone

Chapter 15 After about an hour and a half of driving on the road, the black Rolls-Royce drove gently into an enormous spacious, fenced estate. Hung over the large, standard gate was a clearly warm inscribed text: ‘Welcome to Taylor's Estate.’ The inside was beautiful, aesthetically pleasing to the eye, with glowing greenish flowers swaying as the cool breeze blew. Inside the car, at the passenger’s seat was David Taylor, seated with a seatbelt crossed over his shoulders, keeping him balanced to the seat. On the steering wheel, the bodyguard, relaxed and calm, gripped the steering wheel, his slightly blinking eyes focused as he surged into the estate, carefully watching out for the road ahead of them. David's eyes rolled uncontrollably, scanning and taking in the place. He shook his head, wide-eyed, mouth slightly opened, unable to say a word at first. “You mean this place belongs to my father?” David asked without looking up at the bodyguard. “Yes, young master," the bodyg

CHAPTER 16 David froze. His jaw almost dropped to the ground. He scanned the room with wide eyes. The living room was spacious, looking elegant. Every detail–from the polished sofas, thick, exquisite curtains, down to the tiles, and more–was carefully chosen and nothing felt out of place. Everything worked in harmony. The air in the room was calm, almost curated, carrying a sense of privacy and ease that shields one from the noise of the outside world. Every corner reflects intention—fine materials, balanced design, and subtle beauty working together to create a space that does not just look exquisite, but feels deeply peaceful and effortlessly complete. David felt a sharp warmth wrap around him. He stared around with admiration, his sharp gaze sweeping over the whole room. “Wow!” He muttered. “This? This…..is something. Heaven.” His gaze then shifted, landing on Taylor. “Y—you mean, this house belongs to you?” Taylor, who had been silently watching him, letting him take

Chapter 17 A sigh escaped David’s lips. He leaned back, hesitant. Walter remained quiet, studying him. “It has been hell,” David admitted, his face turning pale. "Struggled all through the years just to survive. No help from anywhere. Just me. Alone. Fighting to live.” He began to give a chronicle of how he had been managing to pull through right after he clocked eighteen years of age and exited the orphanage home to fend for himself with no support from anyone. He also recounted how he was tagged a thief because of his outfit and was beaten up black and blue at a store, how he stayed on empty stomach for days, how he fed on crumbs, down to when he finally out of pity secured a cleaning job at Dine Well Restuarant–where he was currently working–before this great plot twist. A tear formed beneath his eyes as old memories of his suffering started to resurface. David wiped his eyes, shifted slightly on his chair, and gave a faint smile. “But I’m….” he finally said, “glad, it

Chapter 18 “Are you still angry with me?” Skyler asked mockingly, chuckling slightly into the speaker. David interjected before she could continue. "Why'd you call?” A brief pause. Skyler cleared her throat before she started from the other end. "Got some good news so I thought of sharing it with you.” David's nose flared, but he stayed calm. Didn't end the call. "The job,” Skyler Bennett started, "finally secured it. Everett Anderson made it happen.” David clutched his lips. "And what does this have to do with me?” Skyler sighed. "You're such a bitter soul. You couldn't do it, but Everett was able to just within a day. And you should be happy, but instead you're….. in fact, you're just so unbelievable.” “But that's not why I called," she carried on, “called to inform you that I've enough now. Will be paid awesomely.” "So?” "So, you can always come around to take crumbs whenever you're hungry. I don't want you to die on the street." David's lips separated. A smile br

Chapter 19 “Have my ways of dealing with them already,” David replied. “Are you sure about this?” "Yes.” A tilt of his head. Walter studied him for a moment, slowly getting convicted. He swallowed. His chest dropped. "Alright,” he uttered, gaze still fixed on David. "But if you need any help, don't forget to reach out. I want to see those two simps punished.” David nodded in acknowledgment. Walter tilted. "Good.” Then he turned to face Ava. "Don't forget. Tomorrow, take him there.” Ava bowed his head as Walter stood up, pulled his chair backward, the legs screaking against the marble floor. He stepped out, a warm smile plastered on his face. "Time to have some rest. But if there's anything you'd love to know," his gaze flicked to David then Ava. “She has all the answers to them. Ava, please assist him." Without waiting for any response, Walter turned and walked away. David watched him retreat. As he was out of sight, he leaned forward. His hands were placed on the table

Chapter 20 The next morning around a minute to hit sharp eight, Skyler’s phone vibrated and began to ring from the table where she had kept it before she subconsciously fell asleep. No answer. Skyler still lay on her bed laziness, the pink blanket over her. The phone started to ring again. The sound echoed across the calm room. Skyler rolled slightly under the blanket, her eyes fluttering open. Her phone continued to ring. Suddenly, her eyes opened wide. The sun has risen faster than expected. Something she seemed to have forgotten crossed her mind. She has been employed and was supposed to be at the office. “Damn!” She cursed under her breath. She jerked up, throwing the blanket off her as she shot to her feet. A dash toward her phone. Several missed calls from Everett. Skyler ran her hand through her hair. Roughly. Frustrated. “Oh no.” she bit her lips. “How could I forget I had been employed?” Her finger hit the call button, returning Everett’s calls. The ca
