I. THE DEVIL'S DEN.
Elfric felt that his ears were about to bleed from the loud music. His head banged in rhyme with the tempo of the bass oozing out of the sound system, which was embedded in every corner of the club. There was no escaping it.The air was dense with the strong smell of sweat and alcohol, and sex, mixed with the sweet aroma of perfume all around him; the smell was so intoxicating that he felt his head lighten up."CHRIS!" Elfric called out. His friend was pushing through the crowd a few steps ahead of him."We aren't supposed to be here!" he yelled out, as he tried to grab his friend's attention, but the music swallowed his voice. He figured that his friend was not hearing him – or chose not to, he still couldn't decide which. He covered the distance between them in long strides before grabbing his friend by his black leather jacket, yanking him around to finally gain his attention."I thought you said we were going to a nightclub, Chris!" he protested, pointing to his surroundings, whi
II. WHOSE CALL?
The instincts of human nature kicked in as everyone ran for their lives out of the club. The street adjacent to the club was crowded with people to the point that there was no room for the vehicles to move through.Christopher had no control over his feet, the current of the humans rushing out forcing him to join the others on the street. He was barely able to find a secure foothold on the ground as the crowd started spreading all around him, giving him some space to breathe. The only thing that he inhaled was the heavy smoke that was rising vigorously to pollute the atmosphere around him.As if his head was only now recovering from all the inhaled smoke, his eyes went wide with the realization that he was missing something – someone.Elfric.He was separated from him in the basement of the club. When he thought that he was right behind him, he took hold of the door handle, and the fire was already spreading like rain around him."Damn it," he cursed, a rough hand went through his hai
III. VENOM VIOLET
Zeph's heels echoed across the hallways of the Gothom mansion. His right hand was clasping hard on the sealed envelope with the intel that he barely got out of the ruins of Demon's Den.Just as Lord Crane had asked, it was almost like nothing happened; there were no police, no investigators. Zeph went through hell to keep the word from reaching the higher-ups and headlines of the news.An incident this big…he has no idea what their reaction would be. The greatest summoning ritual that they have ever planned went down the drain. Not only that, but also, there was a chance that what they sought was now in the hands of someone else.Someone else got the devil."A kid for fuck's sake," Zeph cursed under his breath. The remainder of the list of names that he recovered from the CCTV system. He jolted in front of the large double door at the far end of the hallway. He knocked on the thick, dark wood and waited for permission to enter. Once he heard the rough voice of Lord Crane, he went in.
IV. ORATHAN.
"R-Rick?" she stuttered, blinking a couple of times to wipe away the hallucination. But her brother was unresponsive to her calls. She gulped as she gathered the courage to approach him. For a second, she doubted he was her brother. The second her fingertips came in contact with the fabric of his white hoodie, he snapped. She felt her heart finally at ease as she saw the light come back to the violet of his eyes.Elfric raised his head as the world started to clear in his eyes; the last couple of minutes were a haze he couldn't remember. He felt that he wasn't there, that there was nothing but a void, an empty vessel left in space. He felt the thick sweat fall down his brow. As he regained his senses, he noticed the long, hard stare of his sister, who was half a step ahead of him, watching as he came back to life."W-What happened?" Elfric stuttered as he brought a hand to his forehead, wiping the sweat that was forming despite the chillness of the morning breeze."You were out of it
V. GIVE IN TO ME
Before Elfric could ask what the hell he meant, he was gone. Leaving Elfric amidst the strong stink of blood, dirt, sweat, and four corpses. As he took another closer look at the scene, he fell to his knees.Whatever strength he had regained since that God-forsaken day was now gone. His mind was screaming in denial while his eyes disapproved. There was no one here other than him. But also, there was no way that he could just kill four men double his weight and get away with it.But from what the red-headed man just said, he just did.His sense of survival had awakened; he covered his head with the white hood that somehow remained spotless. All this blood coating almost every corner of the alley, yet he was standing there unsullied by it all, except for his bloody hands. He dug them deep in his pockets as he dashed off into the half-empty street. He had to get away from here, as far away as he could. From the way that they all dressed, they were nobles. He cursed under his breath. If e
VI. CATCH THE DEVIL'S ATTENTION.
Elfric was barely hanging on to whatever was left of his sanity. After the voice gave him a break on his way to school. It only came back worse than before. As if it were only having a power nap before resuming the nagging war on his brain cells.'I'm you, and you are eventually going to be me,' it echoed in his head.It felt weird seeing the world around you move smoothly as it has always been, while you are stuck in your head. The class was silent, as the teacher carried on doing his job.Yet, in Rick's head, it was even louder than it had been in the club. His head was held low, his pale blonde hair falling to his shoulder as he tried to keep his attention on the textbook that was wide open in front of him on the wrong page. The teacher's voice was muffled in his ears so that he couldn't make out a proper sentence.'Look at yourself and you will see me,' it said. 'I'm the darkest part of your being.'Elfric felt the adrenaline rush through him, the breath getting caught in his che
VII. FAKE LIAR
Elfric didn't notice his feet as they darted off the tiled floor of the school until he bumped into Christopher on his way out."Whoa…Whoa," Chris called out, holding his hands up to reduce his friend's momentum."Where have you been all this time, and where are you going in such a rush?" he said, taking in Elfric's horrified expression, he could see that something was serious. But his efforts weren't enough to put Elfric to a halt. Instead, he was forced to try and keep up with his friend's ridiculously long strides."Joanna called," said Elfric."Your sister," puzzled Chris. "Is there a problem back at your home? Is your mother sick?"He tried coming up with all the possible scenarios that could have happened, as he kept up with his friend."I don't know, Joanna said that she is in trouble in school," Elfric growled under his breath. Preparing himself to assassinate whoever was bothering his sister. His anger from before made it worse."Wait, wait," Chris exclaimed as he came to a s
VIII. LITTLE DEVIL.
"Y-You mean…""I mean exactly what you have understood," interrupted Crane, leaving no room for argument or useless questions. "But how?" said Zeph after a moment of thought as his head rose from looking at his dirt-stained boots. "Never forget that what we are dealing with is a commoner, Zeph," Crane breathed out. "He doesn't know the full extent of what he has in his hands. Anything can be sold at the right price." Zeph felt the chills as he took in Lord Crane's smirk. If he hadn't witnessed what that bot boy could do beforehand, he would have pitied him. The mere reminder of him was horrific, the blood, the mess…the terror. He shrugged off the thought. "How would you like us to get him?" Zeph puzzled, hating the fact that he would have to encounter the elf-like boy again after he beat him to a pulp. "Escort him here without commotion," said Crane, intertwining his fingers beneath his chin. "We don't want my father to hear anything about this."Zeph nodded, understanding Crane'
IX. STAR OF DAVID
"You...Again," Elfric almost snorted as he spat out those words. Eying the man in black from head to toe. "Surprised that you have recovered your energy and came to meet *the monster*." He quoted those same words that Zeph stuttered earlier this morning. Zeph held up his fist over his mouth as he cleared his throat. A gesture that Elfric saw was made out of shame and embarrassment from the way he had reacted this morning. Though he couldn't find it in him to fully blame him, after all…there was no way knowing what he looked like…no…what Orathan looked like when he took over. Obviously something…unfriendly judging from how it made this man, who looks like he never loses his composure, fall to his knees. On a second lock, Elfric saw that he was alone, unlike the previous shameful encounter – at least to one of them. "I see that you came alone this time," said Elfric while raising a questioning eyebrow."And I thought you would appear with an extra couple of men.""Let me first introd
X. BLUFF
"Join us, and you will become *us*,"Elfric couldn't help but chuckle feeling it rock in his chest as he allowed his head to drop, raising it once again not a minute later to glare at Crane, who was obviously not very fond of the way that Rick was acting. "Sorry, don't take it personally," said Rick. "But do you know how many times I have heard someone tell me to become someone else, other than who I'm"Elfric suspected that if Crane did indeed know more about Orathan as he claimed, then he would easily catch on to his words. "I see," Craner stated, starting to walk in circles around Elfric. "I believe that you have got a lot of things mixed up. I don't want your soul, actually, unlike the devil, it's something completely invaluable to me. What I want Elfric, is what you are now capable of."Elfric hummed. He was starting to get curious about what he was capable of himself with Orathan inside him. But, the thought of being in that void again as the other caught the reins was…unpleasa
