The moment Lilth dropped Mike off at school, she gave him one long-lasting look. "You had better behave, baby. I don't know what your father would do if you caused another problem." She drove away after her final warning. Miles stood still trying to understand what she meant. "System. Can you bring out more details about Miles? I need to understand this body if I am going to last in it." [SYSTEM ABOUT MILES] [LOADING IN 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1] Miles stood still when a shockwave hit his central system. His veins popped out of his skin, and he could feel the same pain he felt when he took Kyle's power. Every piece of information and all knowledge about Mils was passed into his system, and of course, his attributes and the way he behaved were passed alongside. "Thanks," Miles said calmly. He looked around and he could see they were now staring at him. He coughed and acted normal. But the truth was, Miles was not the normal type of guy. He was the exact opposite of Jack

Miles kept his expression calm, but inside, a storm was raging. Maya stared back at him with narrowed eyes.b"What exactly do you want, Miles?" she asked. The table fell silent. Everyone knew Miles does not pick up a fight except it was absolutely necessary. Like Kyle's power that was stolen. The whole school wouldn't stop buzzing about it. "I just wanted to have lunch," Miles replied. One of Maya's friends snorted. "With us?" "Why not?" Miles asked. "Because nobody sits here." Miles looked around the table dramatically. "Funny. I see plenty of empty seats." A few students nearby laughed. Maya's friends exchanged surprised glances.bThis wasn't the Miles they knew. The old Miles never bothered anyone. He was dangerous but in a charming way. Maya leaned back in her chair."What changed?" Miles smiled.b"A lot of things." [ System analysis going on ] [ Power ; Water bending ] Miles nearly laughed. He stared at Maya for a while. He slowly understand why h

Miles immediately walked out of the school cafeteria with lots of the students making ways for him like he was some god. "Did you see that?" "He can take away their powers!" "I bet most of the kingpins would be scared right now." "Do you think Jack is going to be scared of him?" Miles smoky walked past them. His eyes landed on the golden watch he was wearing, he needed to get to his mother today. She was supposed to get her medication for her treatment. Mile's phone beeped as a remembrance. Meanwhile in the part of the school, Jack and his cronies were looking at Kyle who was made to knee in the middle. "How dare you lose that power? Do you even know how much it cost?" Jack said with anger. "I am sorry! I don't know why he attacked me." Kyle said with tears. "You don't know? Are you kidding me right now!" Jack snapped, his hand flew forward and a hot slap landed on Kyle's face. "I gave you that power because we needed to deal with Dennis. And now that it is d

Miles wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and slowly got to his feet. The hallway had become strangely quiet. Students were gathering from every direction, forming a circle around them. Nobody wanted to miss what was about to happen. Jack Voss versus Miles Carter. The strongest student in the academy against the boy who could steal powers. Jack's eyes burned with rage. "You think this is funny?" he growled. "No," Miles replied calmly. "What I think is funny is that someone finally knows what happened to Dennis." The smile vanished from Jack's face. A dangerous look appeared in his eyes. His friends immediately stepped back. Even they knew that expression. It was the same expression Jack had worn the day Dennis disappeared. Kyle felt his stomach twist. Miles had crossed a line. A very dangerous line. "What did you say?" Jack asked. Miles shrugged. "I said Dennis Lawson." The moment the name left his mouth, a burst of flames exploded around Jack. BOOOOM! The

The black flames swallowed everything. BOOOOOOM! The east wing exploded into chaos. Walls cracked. Windows shattered. Students ran in every direction. Teachers rushed toward the scene. Miles barely managed to raise his arms before the blast hit him. The impact sent him flying. CRASH! His body smashed through three lockers before slamming into a concrete wall. Pain exploded through every part of him. Blood dripped from his mouth. His vision blurred. Yet somehow, he forced himself to stand. The system screen flickered before him. [ WARNING ] [ HOST CONDITION CRITICAL ] [ RECOMMEND IMMEDIATE RETREAT ] Miles wiped blood from his lips. Jack walked through the black flames. Every step felt like a death sentence. His eyes were cold and devoid of any emotions. He was now having a murderous intent. Miles looked up and he saw the same look he had on when he killed Dennis Lawson. The same look he heard when he stole his project and had him killed. "You should have stayed out

Dennis' mother stared at him. For several seconds, she simply stared. The tears in her eyes rolled down her cheeks as her trembling fingers slowly reached for his face. "Dennis..." she whispered. "Is that really you?" Miles grabbed her hand and pressed it against his cheek. "Yes, Mom. It's me." Her body shook violently.b"I knew it," she sobbed. "I knew my son wasn't gone." Miles broke down completely. It took him courage to tell her it was him. It was not easy but still, she has to know. "I'm sorry," he cried. "I'm so sorry. I should have been there to protect you. I am..." "No." His mother shook her head weakly. "No, Dennis. Don't apologize." She struggled to sit up. Miles immediately supported her. "You survived. I had always known you were a fighter." Her voice cracked. "That's all that matters." Dennis lowered his head. "If I had come earlier—" "You came at the right time son. You don't need to apologise for anything." The woman smiled. A weak smile. But it wa

The word "We couldn't save her." rang inside Miles head like it was the only thing he could hear. "Mr...." The doctor called again, not sure of what to call Miles. "We tried our best. You need to know that." But Miles simply turned around with his clenched. He could have gotten to her in time. He could have saved her if Jack had not beaten the hell out of him. Miles shut his eyes with different emotions flooding his memories. He remembered how his mother had attended his burial ceremony and how the students had laughed. The way Jack and Maya laughed behind his back while watching his mother was crying. His hand wanted to burst into flames again but Miles tried to hide it. He still did not know the penalty the system was going to melt out to him for using that power in the middle of the streets. Tears rolled down his cheek but he didn't seems to care. "Miles?" A voice called right behind him and he stopped just in time to turn around. He immediately rubbed his ey

[ SYSTEM PREDATOR RULES ] [ NO USE OF POWERS OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL VICINITY : REDUCTION OF COLLECTED POWERS] [ LOSS OF STRONGER ABILITY] [ POWER BLOCKAGE FOR TWO DAYS ] [ EMOTIONAL INSTABILITY] [ EXCRUCIATING PAINS OF ALL COLLECTED POWERS] Miles froze as he looked at the rules flashing before his eyes. The rain continued pounding against the windshield while Jane stared at him expectantly. "What?" Miles asked. Jane grinned. "The trick." Mile's eyebrows arched, "What trick?" "The one you used on Jack and his friends. Come on, everybody has been talking about it." Miles forced a laugh."You think I have some secret technique?" "I know you do." Jane pointed a finger at him. "One moment Jack was acting all powerful. The next moment he couldn't even use his ability properly. Then his friends lost theirs too." Miles looked out the window. "If I had such a trick, do you think Jack would still be walking around?" Jane blinked. "Good point." For a second, silence filled the car

"Aren't you going home? Your parents must be worried sick." Jane said slowly raising her brows to look at Miles. "Lilith doesn't seem to care. All she does is try and play a dutiful mother sometimes. It doesn't suit her." he replied. "You seemed off when I saw you at the hospital. Who was that?" Jane asked again "My mother." Miles replied truthfully. She squeezed her eyebrows and smirked, "Your mother? Isn't Lilith Robertson your mother?" Miles knew she was going to be confused but it feels good telling the truth about who he really was although no one was going to believe him. Jane laughed again. "Did anyone tell you that you can be funny at times?" she said gently, her eye fixed on Miles. "I am not joking, Jane. The woman back there is my real mother." Miles said again. The room immediately went silent. Jane said nothing but try and understand what Miles was trying to say. "Are you adopted?" She asked "No." "Then why are you telling me some random woman is your m

Jane's words hung in the air like a thunderclap. For several seconds, Miles simply stared at her. "Will you be my boyfriend?" His brain completely froze. One minute he was thinking of how Jack suddenly got powerful and how his pyro ability surpasses that of Kyle's. Out of all the things he expected Jane to say, that was the last one. "What?" Jane's cheeks turned slightly red, but she didn't look away. "I asked if you would be my boyfriend." Miles blinked twice. Then the third time. "You can't be serious." he said, almost laughing. "I am." "You just met me." Jane folded her arms. "And?" "And you don't just ask someone to be your boyfriend after one conversation." She shrugged. "People also don't steal powers, fight half the school, and threaten the son of the Voss family within a week." Miles opened his mouth then closed it again. He was lost for just a minute. That was a fair point. Jane smirked. "See? You don't have an argument." "No, I do." "Then say it." Miles
