shut your mouth
Maeson froze in the long dark hallway. He stared at the sharp knife pressed against the soft neck of his sister. The boy with the dark yellow eyes smiled a very sick smile. The alien ship hummed around them."Drop the blue sword," the yellow boy commanded. His voice echoed off the cold metal walls. "If you take one more step forward, she will not leave this ship alive."Maeson felt his heart pound hard in his chest. He looked at his brave wife and Ava. He gave them a very small nod. He slowly lowered his right hand. The glowing blue blade faded away back into the simple tattoo on his wrist. His wife placed her white spear on the dark floor. Ava raised her hands to show she was not holding any weapons."Good," the yellow boy said. He did not lower the sharp knife. "You are learning how to obey my rules. I told you I am the physical soul of the ancient virus. I survived the bright fire in the underground factory. I just needed a fast ride back to the stars.""Let her go," Maeson pleaded
Eclipse
The cold wind rushed past the ears of Maeson as he fell through the open sky. He held his little sister very tight against his chest to keep her warm and safe. He looked up at the giant dark shadow covering the bright sun. It was not a cloud at all. It was a very real living creature. The beast was bigger than any alien ship. Its wide wings stretched across the whole sky and blocked out the morning light. The flying creature looked like a giant dark dragon made of pure night and old magic. It roared very loud.Maeson closed his eyes and prepared for the hard ground approaching fast. He knew his body could not survive such a very high drop. But Ava was right there beside him in the cold air. The red light inside her mind flared bright. She stretched out both of her hands toward the green grass far below them. A thick wave of red heat shot out from her palms. The hot energy hit the ground and pushed back up against the rushing wind. The red magic created a soft cushion of warm air. They
Shadow Queen
Maeson stood on the dead grass and stared at the scary woman. The thick fog swirled around her dark dress. The air smelled like old dust. His blue magic light flickered and died. He felt very weak. The dragon hid in the clouds. The brave wife pointed her white spear at the dark woman. Her light wolves growled low. Their bright fur looked dim in the mist."Who are you?" his wife demanded. The woman laughed. The sound was like dry leaves. "I am the queen of rot," she answered. Her voice was cold. "I am the older sister of your magic. You build things with light. I break things into dust. The architect locked me away. But the big explosion broke my cage. I am free to clean this world now."Ava looked terrified. The red protocol tried to fight the dark fog. Ava raised her right hand. A small spark of red fire appeared in her palm. The mist rushed forward and swallowed the spark. Ava fell to her knees. She gasped for fresh air."My machines are shutting down," Ava whispered softly.Maeson
The Giant
The dark queen stepped back as the huge machine climbed over the steep cliff. The dark blue crystal body shined brightly under the morning sky. The ground shook with every step it took. Maeson stared at the giant face. He remembered building this machine to protect the deep rivers of his ancient city. The loud voice from inside the crystal chest was familiar to him. It was an old friend he thought he lost a very long time ago. The chest plates slowly opened wide. A ramp made of pure light extended down to the hot ground right near them."Get inside quickly," the loud voice boomed again. Maeson did not hesitate at all. He grabbed his young sister and ran toward the glowing ramp. His brave wife followed right behind him. She called her light wolves to jump onto the bright path. Ava was the last one to move. Her human mind was still weak from the scary fight. The thick gray fog rushed forward to grab her ankles. The dark queen screamed in pure anger. The fog turned into sharp claws. Maes
Glowing Abyss
The ocean floor lit up with a bright blue glow. Maeson pressed his face against the cold glass wall of the crystal machine. He looked at the amazing sight. A huge city rested at the very bottom of the dark sea. Tall towers made of white stone reached up into the cold water. Glowing plants grew on the sides of the ancient buildings. It was a beautiful place. But the happy feeling vanished very fast. A large group of dark submarines blocked the path to the bright city. The strange ships were not the alien vessels from the sky above them."Who are those people?" Ava asked. She pointed a shaking finger at the submarines. Kael frowned deep and grabbed the control stone. "They are the lost guards. They were supposed to protect the sanctuary. But their minds look corrupted now." The submarines moved closer to the crystal giant. They aimed long metal tubes at the clear glass room. "We need to tell them who we are," the brave wife of Maeson said. She held her white spear ready just in case the
The Trap
Maeson stood very still in the quiet stone street. The tall shadow stepped out of the dark building. The bright light of the underwater city shined on the face of the stranger. It was a man, but his eyes burned with a harsh red fire. The red light looked exactly like the dangerous protocol hiding inside the mind of Ava. The stranger wore a white uniform, but it was torn and dirty. He held a heavy black spear in his hands. He did not look friendly at all. Kael pushed Maeson back. Kael raised his big hands to fight."Do not hurt him," Ava yelled loud. She ran forward and stood between Kael and the corrupted guard. Her own eyes began to flash with a very soft red light. "The protocol virus infected this city too. The dark energy traveled through the water." The red eyed guard looked at Ava. He lowered his heavy black spear just a tiny bit. He tilted his head like a curious dog. He recognized the red energy inside her mind. He spoke in a voice that sounded like grinding metal. "The crimso
Corrupted guards
The heavy metal cage slammed into the cold stone floor. Maeson fell hard on his knees. The iron bars rattled loudly but did not break. He struck the cage door with his glowing blue sword. Sparks flew everywhere. The blue magic bounced off the dark metal. The trap was built to hold a true architect. He looked up through the iron roof of his prison. The red crystal on the high ceiling cracked open wider. A loud tearing sound filled the large round dome. The red light inside the rock pulsed with a sick heartbeat.Kael yelled and ran toward the cage to help his friend. Two corrupted guards blocked his path with heavy black spears. Kael swung his giant fists, but the guards were fast. They pushed the bearded engineer back. His brave wife fought three guards at the same time. Her white wolves bit the boots of the enemies. She thrust her bright white spear with great skill. She could not reach the cage. Maeson was stuck inside. He gripped the iron bars. He watched the fight and felt deep wor
Mirror Image
Maeson stared at the man in the dark suit. The face looking back at him was his own. The eyes were the same deep brown. The jaw was the same sharp shape. The clone stood tall and cool. He checked his polished fingernails with a bored look. He did not seem worried at all. Maeson gripped his blue sword. The light from his wrist felt cold. He felt a deep shiver run down his spine. The clone was a perfect copy of his physical form. He even held his head in the same way. The room was silent."Who are you?" Maeson asked. His voice sounded thick. "What is this trick?"The clone laughed a soft, dry sound. "I am the original version," the man said. "You are just a copy made from broken data. You were born from a lab tube. I was born from flesh and bone. I have the true memories of the architect. You just have the bits and pieces that the system decided to keep."Maeson did not believe the words. He looked at his wife. She held her white spear with shaking hands. She looked at the clone and the
The Void
Maeson stood in the dark. He could not see his own feet. The space felt like a deep room with no walls. His heart hammered against his ribs. He felt fear for the first time in a long time. He reached for his sword, but his hand found only air. The blue tattoo on his wrist was gone. He looked at his arms. They were clear like smoke. He was a ghost in his own life. The voice spoke again from the dark. It sounded close and far at the exact same time."You are back," the voice said. It was a cold, flat sound.Maeson spun around fast. A tall figure stood behind him. The man wore a long robe made of shifting light. His face was a blank mask of moving code. He was the guardian of the void. Maeson knew this place now. It was the space between worlds. It was where the deleted data went to hide."Where is my family?" Maeson demanded. His voice sounded thin. "Where are my wife and my sister?"The guardian tilted his head. "They are in the dome," the man replied. "But time does not move for them
Metal Key
Maeson stared at the shiny key in the hand of the stranger. He did not reach for it. The man in the dark suit stood very still. His face was calm and he smiled a very polite smile. The dark eyes of the man hid a deep secret. Maeson looked past the man. He looked at his frozen sister. He looked at his frozen wife. They were still trapped in time. The water around them was gone. The dome was quiet and cold."Who are you?" Maeson asked in a rough voice. He felt a sharp pain in his chest. His magic was very weak right now. The blue light on his wrist did not glow at all."I am the game master," the man replied. "You broke the reset machine. You stopped the end of the world. But you did not save your friends. They are stuck in the pause. Only the metal key can start their time again."Maeson stood up on his tired legs. He looked at the key. It was shaped like a small bird."What is the catch?" Maeson asked. He knew men in dark suits never gave free gifts."The catch is very simple," the ga
