Chapter 11 — The Hunt Begins
The announcement rang across Divine Epoch Online.World Announcement: Player Ravan has solo killed the first World Boss, Shadowfang Wolf King! For one breath, the beginner villages went quiet.A player froze with his wooden sword raised in front of a training dummy. A mage lost the spell she had been chanting. Two players arguing over a boar drop both stopped talking. Then the noise came all at once.“Ravan?”“Who the hell is Ravan?”“Solo killed a world boss?”“The game just launched.”“Maybe the boss was already dying.”“It still counted as solo.”“Does the system even count it if others helped?”“Find the location.”“Find the player first.”“Someone had to see something.”Nobody knew the full story. Then Ravan turning toward her. Then the sword coming down before her spell finished forming.Garrick said nothing either. He remembered more than that. The pressure. The shadow. His own hand shaking. His voice asking for mercy. He kept that part to himself. Then the announcement rang out.World Announcement: Player Ravan has solo killed the first World Boss, Shadowfang Wolf King!Tobin went still.Tessa’s face changed.Garrick stared at the words until they faded.“He got it,” Tobin said.Tessa’s voice came low. “After killing us.”Garrick l

Chapter 18 — Crown Haven
The inn near the trade square was not grand. Two Crown Haven players stood at the base of the stairs. Others moved through the lower floor with maps, marked routes, and quick reports. Outside, the square was still loud. Players kept throwing around Ravan’s name, Anonymous, the Extreme hidden dungeon clear, and the update timer.Garrick, Tobin, and Tessa walked in and stopped at the stairs.A guard looked them over. “Second floor’s closed.”Garrick opened his interface. “We have information on Ravan.”The guard looked at him. “Everyone has information today.”Garrick sent the death logs.Player Ravan killed Player Tobin.Player Ravan killed Player Tessa.Player Ravan killed Player Garrick. The guard’s expression changed. Velkris’s Broken Gauntlet closed easily around his sword hand. He kept moving.Players were spread across the paths in larger numbers than before. Not farming. Not hunting in proper rotations. Some watched the road junctions. Some stopped others to ask questions. None of them looked at Ravan for more than a second before moving on.His name was hidden. To them he was another player with strange gear.He kept walking toward the village gate.Near the entrance, Erian stood with Darrus beside him. Garrick, Tobin, and Tessa were a few steps back. Erian stepped forward.“Join Crown Haven.”Ravan turned his head slightly. “No.”Darrus frowned at how fast the answer came.Erian did not react much. “You have not heard the offer.”“I heard enough.”“We have information, hunting routes, buyers, and players strong enough to stop smaller guilds from wasting your time.”Ravan looked at the place where Garrick’s group had dissolved. Then back at Erian.“Protection?”Erian did not answer immediately.Ravan smiled faintly. “I’ve seen your protection. Those dogs did too.”Darrus’s face hardened. “Watch it.”Ravan looked at him.Darrus lowered the axe from his shoulder. “You are speaking to Crown Haven.”Ravan’s smile disappeared.“Ant.”Darrus took one step forward. “What did you say?”Ravan turned fully and looked over the Crown Haven players spread around the gate.“Kneel.”Ding!
