CHAPTER TWENTY-ONEKent had gone to remind Kelvin about his promise to the Phoenix sisters. He knocked on the door twice, and then he pulled the handle.“Going somewhere?” He inquired, seeing that Kelvin was fully dressed that early morning.“I made a promise to Lara and her sisters, Kent . I don’t intend to go back on my words.” Kelvin was already on his way out of the large bedroom, and Kent joined him at once.On their way striding along the hallway, Kelvin looked at the portraits of his father hanging on different spots on the walls.A heavy sigh left him, but he was distracted by the appearance of his sister.Briana was curious. “Where are you going so early, Kelvin?” She was worried that he was leaving them, especially as she saw the brown portable box he was carrying.Kelvin chuckled softly, amused by the look on her face. “Cheer up, Briana. I am not leaving.”“So where are you going?” Briana returned her gaze to Kelvin since Kent didn’t look like he was going to answer her

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWOVance gasped as soon as he heard those words that resounded echoes of hope and recovery in his ears.“The Divine Healer is here?!”His eyelids flickered, but his blinded eyes were not going to see Kelvin.“Are you sure you brought him, Lola? I heard he was killed in a fire.”“He is standing right here in front of you, Father.” Lara assured, turning to Kelvin with an assuring smile.Vance nodded, and then he started gripping, trying to sit up.The two stewards behind him quickly grabbed him and helped him up.“Divine Healer? If you are truly here, please save me!” His voice was laced with pangs of pain, but he still tried as much as he could to hold onto the hope that his daughters had given to him.Kelvin stepped closer to the old man, still making his observations while everyone turned their attention to him.“Your Brain, Mr. Phoenix.”“What about his brain?” Lola asked the same question that her father would have asked if it had been possible for him to get rid of

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREEKelvin forgot that he was in a hurry to leave. “You knew my father?” He asked, and Vance nodded with a smile.“We were best of friends, Kelvin. Your brother didn’t tell you?”Kelvin shook his head, unable to fight the urge to hear more from the old men.Vance turned to Lola. “Why didn’t you tell me Kelvin Ashwood was the Divine Healer?” He didn’t look pleased with his daughters, and none of them had any excuse for their omission.”"We are sorry, Father.” Lara apologized on behalf of his sisters, but their father wasn’t bothered anymore.“I am sorry for what happened to you, Kelvin,” Vance had an emotional look in his eyes, staring with wide eyes.“That was a long time ago, Mr. Phoenix.” Kelvin forced a smile, not certain of which of his ordeals the old man was speaking of.Just then, the old man made a decision that was about to change the fate of his three daughters. He cleared his throat, and when it seemed like he was not going to be able to get rid of the clog

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR In the midst of everything that had been going on, no one considered what Kelvin had to say.His silence was considered a consent to everything that Vance said, but that wasn’t the case. “Don’t I have a say in this, Mr. Phoenix?” He finally broke his silence, expression a little displeasure while he stared with a smirk.Vance took a deep breath. “I know how this sounds, Kelvin Ashwood. But this is the only thing that will make me happy. Marry my daughters, and you will give me profound peace.”“All of them?” Kelvin inquired, and the old man nodded. “Yes, all of them.” Kelvin scoffed. “I don’t think I can handle your three daughters all together, Mr. Phoenix.” He looked at Lara and her sisters, and because they were still upset, they rolled their eyes at him one after the other. “I have some other things to do, Mr. Phoenix. We are done here since the purpose of my coming has been fulfilled.”The Divine Healer was ready to leave, but the old man was still despe

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVEKent was beginning to listen to his brother, but each time he turned to his wife, she shook her head to dismiss Kelvin’s claim.“My wife is not a child, Kelvin. I am sure you must be mistaken.”“No, I am not, Kent . She is pregnant, and needs all the attention she can get. I am guessing this is your first son.”Iris laughed hysterically, and Kent had to force himself not to join her.“First, you said I was pregnant, and now you already know the gender of the child you claim is in my womb.”“Hmm-mm.” Kelvin’ confidence was unwavering, and to help resolve the issue, Briana decided to step in.“I have a pregnancy test kit!” She announced, avoiding her mother’s eyes.Morganat furrowed her brows. “What do you need that for?!” She asked, but Briana was already on her way out of the living room. She returned as soon as she could and handed the kit over to Iris. “I think this will tell us the truth, Iris.”Iris scoffed. “There is no way I am doing any stupid test! I am n

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIXThe four men were marveled that their revered leader didn’t do anything even after he was slapped very hard by Morganat across his face.He staggered backward, rubbing his left hand on his cheek without saying a word.Morganat was ready to hit him again. “What are you doing here?!” She was furious, fuming in an intense rage.Kelvin turned to his mother and gave her the kind of look that was eager for an explanation. The leader of the group was rubbing his cheek, and as some point, he looked at his companions who were expecting him to react.“We are here to see the Divine Healer, Morganat. We were told that he lives here now.”Kelvin stepped forward. “Who are you?” He was still curious, and since his mother was not prepared to say the reason why she hit the man, he didn’t bother to ask.“My name is Seth, Divine Healer, and these are my companions. We are the messengers of the Emperor of Narmia. We travelled all the way from the East to see you.”From what the leader

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVENKelvin gave them no response, preparing to make a move. That was the last thing he remembered before everything suddenly went blank. He fell, feeling his body dragged along the rough path, his eyes flickering while he groaned in pain.Nothing else could trigger more fury than the pain of a man who had to endure five years in one of the most dangerous and safeguarded Prisons in the entire world. Not even the worst of criminals deserve to be in Black Fang Prison.Escape was impossible, and anyone sent to the prison was considered dead, as there was no hope of release, not even with a huge amount of money or influence.Kelvin Ashwood used to be the pride of Oakwood City and the entire Country of Elbania until he was accused of leaking an illegal experiment that killed five top government officials.Nothing he said mattered to them because his setup had been orchestrated by the powerful and the most influential people in the City who considered him a threat. When he w

Kelvin didn’t know what was more painful about the heartrending sight in front of him. He couldn’t choose between the fact that his fiancée had betrayed him and the fact that she did it with his elder brother. He continued to stare at them until Kent eventually opened his eyes and saw him standing in front of them with his eyes wide open.“Shit! Kelvin!” Kent pushed Chloe away from his body and dived to the ground, hiding at the back of the bed.His reaction caused Chloe to look toward Kelvin’s direction, and when she saw the man, she let out a loud shriek.“It’s not what you think! I swear!” She covered both her shame and nakedness with the bedspread, wrapping it all over her body while she curled up in the bed.Her blonde hair was messy, enough evidence that they had been on their pleasure moment for such a long time.Kelvin couldn’t believe his eyes. No words could leave his mouth as he stared at the woman who had betrayed him with his brother. His relationship with Chloe Avilla ha

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE The elegant lady was dressed in a blue, expensive suit with a nice pearl hanging on her neck. She was about the same age as Chloe, but her aura was authoritative. “Emily Carter?” Kelvin recognized her at once, taking a step toward her. His face expressed his curiosity. Emily was one of the interns who worked in the Hospital when Kelvin was one of the Special researchers in the City. She had managed to become very relevant in the City with so much respect and fulfillment. “Hello, Doctor Ashwoode. It’s so good to have you back.” Emily smiled, walking toward Kelvin with a smile until she stopped and bowed. “Hey! Hey! That’s enough! Who the hell are you?! What are you guys doing here?!” Kent suddenly found his valor, attempting to send Emily and the five men she came with away. “Get the hell out of here, all of you!” He barked again and wanted to move toward the men when he remembered that he was only putting on his underwear. Chloe had already moved backward, e

CHAPTER THIRTYEmily’s emotional words had succeeded in melting Kelvin’s heart. He couldn’t stay angry anymore. The fact that Emily mentioned that people were dying in the City as a result of the virus outbreak made him eager to know what caused it.He also wanted to vindicate himself since he knew that many people were still going to believe that he killed those government officials.“I know that this is really tough for you, Doctor Ashwoode. But you are our only chance, we will all perish without you. Please.” Emily begged wholeheartedly, almost shedding tears.Kelvin looked at the men she came with, and he could tell that they also felt the pain she felt. Probably because some of them had lost family members or dear ones to the pandemic. He took in a deep breath, and then he slowly exhaled before he said the words Emily prayed fervently to hear from him.“Fine. I will help you.”“You will?” Emily gasped, staring at Kelvin just to be certain that he meant his words.“Do you want me t
