CHAPTER THIRTY-ONEThe moment they heard the words from the nurse who was still panting with an alarming look on her face, all the Doctors in the room grabbed their equipment and ran out of the room leaving Kelvin alone with Emily. The nurse joined them at once, their feet thudding along the hallway as they went to attend to the life-threatening situation.“What’s happening?” Kelvin asked Emily after observing the Doctors for a while.Emily had not yet said a word, but the look on her face said a lot of things that didn’t look good at all.“She was brought in here a month ago, but we still haven’t been able to figure out what’s wrong with her heart. We couldn’t operate because she had become so weak.”“So this has nothing to do with the virus?” Kelvin asked, eyes on Emily who shook her head in response.Kelvin thought about the situation for a while, and then he realized that he really wanted to help. He looked around and it felt like the sensation inside him was begging him to assist

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO“She is alive!” Emily screamed in joy, sighing in so much relief. She quickly removed the oxygen mask from her face and helped her get up while the other Doctors watched in utter amazement. None of them believed what had just happened.“How is that possible? What did you do?” Gideon asked, saying the exact words that were in everybody’s mind.“Nothing serious, Doctor Vance. I just noticed that her heart had a lot of air inside, and needed some booster to function well. You guys were looking at the wrong side.” Kelvin said casually like he had not just brought a girl back to life. What baffled them more were his simplicity and confidence, and the fact that he really didn’t care about the things they said earlier.“What’s your name?” Kelvin said to the girl who took a while before she responded with a weak tone.“Maya.” She said, realizing that she was in a hospital after about five months of being unconscious and at the verge of death.“Well, Maya, I am Doctor Kelvin

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE The sound of the alarm and the message from the automated voice kept all the Doctors on edge, and they helplessly turned to face each other. Realizing that none of them was going to be able to do anything, they turned to Kelvin while they left the talking to their eyes and body language. “What does that mean?” Kelvin asked Emily, who spent a few seconds getting a grip on herself before she gave him a response. “One of the infected patients we have been studying to find a cure for just got worse. This happens just before they lose their lives. We have lost about fifty subjects in this Hospital over the last five days. The symptoms keep getting worse.” Emily’s eyes were teary, but the anxiety that gripped her was visible for Kelvin to see. The rest of the others shared the same feeling except Gideon. He seemed unusually quiet, like there was something secretly going on in his mind. But that wasn’t so relevant at that moment. It wasn’t long before the blaring

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR It was yet another day, and all the employees were busy with their daily tasks, struggling to meet the deadline for the day. Their suits were either fitted to their bodies or were free to allow them to breathe. The superiors were busy with their daily inspections, and the board members were seated in the hall, waiting for the CEO to arrive before the commencement of the meeting. Velvet Pharmaceuticals was the leading company in the production of healthcare products that helped fight different kinds of diseases. The company was started by Kelvin’s father before he handed it over to him at the very young age of twenty. Kelvin was able to raise the company to a very great height within three years before he was thrown into prison. He handed over the company to his fiancée, hoping that she would be able to take care of things until he was back. “Has anyone been able to reach Miss Avilla?” One of the members of the senior employees of the company asked, but there

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE Everyone was shocked at what Kent said, except Kelvin, who remained calm even though he had a frown on his face. He knew his brother too well, but he never knew that he was going to be able to do that. He felt a sting in his heart, which made him take in a deep breath. “You sold our Company to this man? This is our family legacy, Kent.” “No, Kelvin! This is your legacy! Father loved you so much, and he couldn’t stop showing how you were his favorite. Let’s see if you will have a legacy left.” Kent spat in front of Kelvin, who clenched his right fist in annoyance. Kent was forced to take two steps backward as soon as he saw how angry Kelvin was. He was afraid that his brother was going to land another punch on his face. Kelvin heard the sound of heels clacking on the marble floor, causing him to lift his head to see who was coming. It was Chloe who was walking in, but she chose to stay by a corner of the hall, afraid of getting closer to Kelvin, who grunted a

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX Kelvin ignored the plea, to the surprise of everyone, walking out in a hurry.“I have a meeting to attend to.” He muttered, quickening his steps. A few seconds after Kelvin walked away from the hospital premises, Pedro hurriedly followed him, and in those seconds, he caught up with him. He turned to look at him with a smile on his face.Michael walked ahead of him alongside some of the bodyguards who were hanging around the hallway that led to the elevator. Just when he was about to take a step closer to the elevator doors, Kelvin noticed that the Manager was standing beside him, and he turned to look at him. “I hope there is no problem, Mr. Clegane.” “Not at all, Lord Kelvin. There is one more thing…” Pedro said with a whisper, gesturing with his index finger while Kelvin stopped almost immediately alongside Heather, who was trying to make sure she maintained the same pace with her, even though she regretted putting on those black heels that she bought recentl

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN The ride from the premises of the company back to the Castle took about thirty minutes as the cars moved through the busy roads occupied by other road users who were also on their way to their various destinations. Heather stole glances at Liam, waiting for the rogue opportunity to start up a conversation, but Liam’s deadpan countenance gave her no chance to say even a single word. “Miss Cocker?” Kelvin turned to look at her while they were getting really close to the avenue that led to the castle. “Yes, Lord Kelvin,” Heather answered with a bright smile on her face, unintentionally showing the excitement she felt from hearing her name from the young CEO’s mouth. Kelvin waited for a few seconds while still trying to find out the reason behind the excitement on her face. “How long have you been working in the company?” “Three weeks, Lord Kelvin. Just three weeks.” Heather responded while still maintaining her smile, nodding almost at the same time. “I see…”

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT Kelvin pushed himself up from the bed, turning to look at Vella, who was still standing close to the wall behind the bed with a smile on her face. “I wonder when I am going to get used to you showing up on me like that.” Kelvin sat on the bed, looking at Vella, who slowly walked up to the bed and sat down beside him. Her smile showed so much excitement, causing Kelvin to forget that she had startled him a while ago to focus on the strange look on her face. “You seem unusually excited, Vella.” “Oh, you noticed.” Vella chuckled excitedly, looking at Kelvin, who was hoping that she could give her a solid reason behind her unusual mood. “Did you also notice something else, Kelvin?” Vella lifted her eyebrows while she maintained her smile, waiting patiently to hear what Kelvin was going to say. “Am I supposed to notice any other thing? I am not sure I can be able to read minds.” “Look closer, Kelvin. What you seek is right in front of you.” Vella blinked several

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE Vella’s countenance showed intense struggle while she tried to make up her mind over what she was going to tell Kelvin, who was paying keen attention and wanted to hear whatever she was going to say to him. “I see that you are eager to get an answer, Kelvin,” Vella said calmly and smiled at Kelvin, who remained silent with so much eagerness to hear what she was going to say. “Your parents both originated from lines of supernatural Creatures. Your father was a powerful wizard, and your mother, your mother…she was a nymph who had special abilities. They were blessed by the Divine, but their love was forbidden.” Vella paused for a while and took in a deep breath, which she let out slowly before she continued in a low tone. “They had duties that they were obliged to carry out in their different worlds, but they decided to abandon them for the sake of the love they had for each other. The safest place to hide was on Earth, this realm where supernatural creatures co

CHAPTER FORTY After a few hours of sound sleep, Kelvin woke up from sleep and stood up from the bed. He went into the bathroom and took a long shower before he put on fresh clothes, walked out of his chambers, and headed to the dining hall. “Good evening, Lord Kelvin…” “Good evening, Belinda,” Kelvin greeted the middle-aged lady who was standing by a corner of the dining hall, smiling with her hands clasped together. “You are right on time for dinner. I was almost about to ask Mr. Michael to knock at your door.” “Oh, I see…” Kelvin sighed softly while he reciprocated the smile from the middle-aged lady. “Well, I am here now. What do you have for me?”“Why don’t you just have a seat and find out yourself?” Belinda gestured to the table, and Kelvin grabbed the seat by the right end of the table and sat down slowly. He adjusted himself almost immediately and placed his hands on the table. “Well?” He turned to look at Belinda, who quickly grabbed the dish cover to reveal the food
