CHAPTER NINETY-TWO Left with no choice, Borius joined the others at once, after he had struggled with the attempt to conBorius himself that he didn’t need to get something to eat even when he knew deep inside himself that he was entirely hungry. He sighted a huge fish moving slowly inside the river, and he quickly stabbed it with his spear and lifted it gently from the water. “Well, that was very quick,” Lucy said excitedly, surprised at the fact that Borius was the first to catch a fish even though he seemed to be entirely against them stopping to get something to eat. “I didn’t know you were hungry, brother.” Sierra turned to look at her brother with a smirk on her face, while she held onto the arrow she attached to her bow. Her brother didn’t bother to look at her, knowing that she was a bit frustrated after attempting to shoot the fish he caught twice to no avail. The effects of her pursuit made the fish swim slowly which made her brother catch it really quickly with just a

CHAPTER NINETY-THREE “Yeah, you shouldn’t have moved through this path.” He chuckled softly while looking at the fish that dangled in his hands, struggling to free itself from his grasp with the last strength it had, but Patrick held onto it tightly without any attempt to let it go. After he had become the second person to catch a fish, Patrick continued to while the others eventually caught some others which they piled up on top of a rock close to the river, a few meters away from the spot where Seth had set up a blazing fire with some of the dry sticks he found lying waste on the ground. When they were certain that they had caught enough fish, the six of them gathered around the fire that Seth had set and roasted the fish which they ate in delight. The moment they were done eating, they stood up one after the other and walked to the river to scoop some water to drink, beginning with Seth who was the first to finish eating. “Centaurs…” Sierra scoffed while she looked at Seth w

CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR The path ahead of them was deserted, but they had each other, and that was all that mattered. Wielding their weapons and ready to fight off any form of attack, the six adventurers walked through the path with moderate and steady steps, eager to get to their destination as soon as possible. “We need to hurry, guys! We have to get to the seven mountains before sunset. We do not know what lies ahead of us.” Jarden said, inviting them to increase the speed of their steps while they walked along the path. They didn’t realize it, but they had been rejuvenated after eating the fish from the river, and the speed of their steps increased while they marched energetically through the path. Now long after, Seth began to whistle a particular rhythm in a straight pattern while he maintained a bright smile on his face. It was obvious that he was basking in the euphoria of the thoughts that lingered in his mind, probably from the memories he shared with his beloved whom he cou

CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE “But we can’t hear anything, Jarden,” Sierra said with a smirk on her face, looking at Jarden who was still certain of what he heard. “Maybe it was an animal. Something very small.” Borius said, turning toward the valley, after he had stared at it for a while, he returned his gaze to Jarden and sighed softly. “Yeah, maybe it was an animal or something…” Jarden sighed softly, giving in to the words he heard from the other elves even though he seemed to be a bit certain that he heard something that he wasn’t supposed to overlook. “Alright, guys. False alarm. I am sorry about that, but we need to continue.” Jarden gestured to his companions who had stopped, and they continued walking through the path close to the river until Jarden heard the same sound again, and turned immediately to look at the direction of the valley. “Did you guys hear that?” “Yes! I heard it! I heard it! That wasn’t the sound of an animal, I am sure of it.” Borius said with a nervous voice

CHAPTER NINETY-SIX Standing still amidst the suspense that engulfed them, the adventurers kept looking around while Patrick held onto the arrow that puzzled him entirely. “Listen, guys…” Seth said to his companions, looking in the direction of the valley while the rest of the adventurers turned toward that direction as well, their ears eager to hear what was going on. “Can you hear that? Is no one hearing what I am hearing?” Seth asked after a few seconds, looking at his companions who seemed confused and unable to grasp what he was talking about. “What is that, Seth? What are you talking about?” Borius asked almost immediately, confused just like the rest of the adventurers who gave up their attempts to find out what the Centaur was talking about. “I am surprised you guys didn’t hear that, now it’s gone…” Seth sighed softly, looking at Patrick who seemed to be the only one listening to hear what he was talking about. Sierra sucked her teeth, and then she rolled her eyes at Se

CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN Unable to see the arrow on time, Seth couldn’t dodge it as it hit him the moment he saw it, and he tried to swerve away from it. He fell to the ground and went silent. “Seth! Seth!” Lucy gasped loudly, looking at Seth who remained still while he was sprawled on the ground. “No, Lucy! It’s too dangerous!” Patrick stopped Lucy from running toward Seth, holding her hand while he looked into her eyes to see that she was almost in tears. At that time, Sierra couldn’t stop herself from feeling sorry for Seth whom she wasn’t even sure was still alive as he lay still on the ground with the steel arrow still pierced into his skin. “Lower your weapons, guys. This is not the time to play hero. Look at them, it doesn’t look like they have toasted any form of civilization, and I am certain that they might be ready to feast on us.” Patrick suggested with a whisper, looking at the savage men who surrounded them slowly, marching with similar steps while they glared at them,

CHAPTER NINETY-EIGHT Eventually, the leader of the savage men changed his mind about moving closer to Sierra which was somehow understandable even though no one knew his reasons, and the other adventurers had their eyes on him while they wondered why he stopped. He walked up to a spot where he was certain that the five adventurers were going to see him clearly, and then he cleared his throat twice. “Kneel.” He said calmly, but the five of them were so bewildered that he could speak after they all behaved that they were unable to produce any other sound apart from the hootings he made alongside his men who were ready to attack. “Kneel!” He commanded with a compelling tone, causing them to go on their knees without any hesitation, grunting in so much pain the moment their knees hit the rocky ground. Lucy turned almost immediately to look at Seth who was still not moving as he lay still on the floor, his sword lying waste on the floor glittered under the effects of the sunlight. Th

CHAPTER NINETY-NINE“But you also killed one of us…” Sierra said with a shaky tone, still looking at the dagger for a while before she lifted her eyes to look at Kael who sniggered at her instantly. “You attacked first, elf. You shot our brother without being provoked…” “That was because he was about to kill one of us!” Sierra retorted at once, looking at Kael who smiled at her for a few seconds before a smirk appeared on his face. “Fierce! I have always heard that female elves are fearless, and seeing you, I have no doubt about the things I have heard. You seem to be very brave, and you could be more courageous than your brothers.” Kael looked at Jarden and Borius, who already knew he was talking about them, and lifted their faces to look at him, one after the other. “You are going to fight one of us, whoever wins is free to go, and the peace and order of things can be restored. Accept the challenge, that is the only way to restore the balance that you have destroyed.” Kael withd

CHAPTER HUNDRED At that time, Sierra expressed the displeasure she felt from the rules that Kael was still mentioning. She felt they were one-sided, but it looked like he was aware, and didn’t care about their opinions even though they grumbled instantly. “Finally…” Kael continued with a low tone, looking at Sierra with a confident smile on his face while he got ready to mention the final rule. “The challenger is allowed to pick multiple weapons, but the opponent is only entitled to just one weapon. I suggest she makes the right choice or be faced with a lesser chance of lasting longer than expected.” Kael walked up to Sierra, and after leaning forward to her right ear, he whispered to her with a smirk on his face. “I can’t wait for him to tear you into pieces. I wonder how long you are going to last before he breaks all your bones and chops off your head.” Kael sniggered with a low tone while he took backward steps away from Sierra who looked at him at once, and attempted to pret

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND ONE “I think we are almost ready! Now, it’s time for you to choose weapons!” Kael announced after a few seconds. He gestured to some of the savage men who quickly brought forth all the weapons they had taken from Sierra and her companions which they displayed on the floor in front of her, stepped backward, and joined the others in their hooting. “Now, choose your weapon. Remember! You are only allowed to choose just one weapon throughout the challenge. I suggest you make the right choice and pick something that can enable you to last a little bit longer than expected.” Kael sniggered again while looking at Sierra who struggled within herself not to give in to his attempts to make her fear. She looked at Rico for a while, and after she had made several observations about him, she looked down at the weapons displayed on the floor, taking her time to make a choice. “I hope she doesn’t pick that bow and arrow. She definitely won’t last long with them.” Lucy said wi
