CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE He fell on both feet, and almost immediately, he went after the screecher that had let go of one of Lucy’s arms and left her to dangle in the air while it hovered above the Greenland. “Why don’t you let her go, you silly creature?” Patrick said angrily while he continued running after the screecher, who wasn’t aware that he had gotten down from the tree. “I am coming, Lucy,” Patrick said calmly while he increased the speed of his legs, making use of the strength and speed boosters that helped him to catch up with the creature that had to slow down as a result of the deep injury it had on its left eye. He jumped up really high and grabbed the tail for the second time, and since the screecher was still in pain and had little strength left in it, it couldn’t go higher than it already was. “Get down! You are not going anywhere!” Patrick dragged the screecher down with his left hand, and when the creature realized that it could no longer keep up with the struggle, it

CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE He continued to look at the three of them, who were not aware that Lucy had blinked severally and moved a few parts of her body, especially her fingers and her legs. Suddenly, Lucy groaned loudly, and then they all turned to look at her. “Lucy! You are awake!” “Take your hands off her! Take your hands off her!” Borius ordered Patrick, who grabbed Lucy on her shoulders the moment he realized that she was awake, and he was forced to let her go when he saw that the elves were ready to attack him if he didn’t. “Lucy? Are you okay?” Borius asked in a low tone while Heather moved closer to her, pointing her weapon at Patrick, who moved away at once. “Lucy? Are you okay?” Heather asked while Lucy sat up and touched the back of her head, grunting lowly. “I feel a sharp pain at the back of my head. It hurts.” Lucy grunted again, and Heather moved closer to her before she withdrew her arrow from her bow and returned it to the quiver hanging behind her. “Come, let me

CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR Patrick took about ten steps before he suddenly stopped when a thought occurred to him, causing him to turn to look at the others who were staring at him. “Where is Dwayne?” He said with his brows lifted, and that was when he realized that everyone that the other elf was nowhere to be found. “Dwayne?” Heather called out to him while she looked around, but when she realized that her voice wasn’t audible enough, she decided to clear her throat to speak louder. “Dwayne! Dwayne! Where the hell is he?” She continued, scouring the large area in search of the elf who was not seen. “Dwayne! Dwayne! Where are you?” Borius joined his sister in calling out to him, and when he couldn’t get any response, he turned to look at Seth, whom he gave an inquisitive stare. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Seth asked instantly, looking at Borius, who refused to take his eyes away from him. Then others joined almost immediately, and it became obvious that Borius wasn’t

CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE “There! I think we should start from that place. I saw him running toward that area when the Screechers attacked.” Patrick pointed to a deep area in the woods, and the others looked in that direction as well. “Let’s go then. There is no time.” Lucy said after a while, and then she started going slowly toward the area Patrick pointed to. “Are you sure about this, Patrick? That place looks very dangerous.” Seth expressed his worry while looking at the dark area Patrick had pointed to. Lucy was forced to stop almost immediately, and then she turned to look at him, wondering why he was too afraid to go even though he wasn't going alone. “What is it, Seth? Why are you behaving like a baby?” Heather asked angrily, looking at the Centaur with an unpleasant expression while he looked very nervous, and his face showed so much nervousness. “I am not acting like a baby! Why would you say that?” “Yes, you are! Centaurs are brave and fierce warriors, and I wonder why you

CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX Borius was the first to take a step backward as he was in front of everyone, and the sound was heard closer to him. “Did you guys hear that?” He asked in a whisper, turning to look at the others who kept quiet, with their eyes scouring the entire place in search of anything that could be responsible for the sound. The sound was really fast, like the movement of an animal, and they couldn’t detect where it went to as it ran across them in a flash.“What was that?” Seth asked with a shaky voice, but no one said anything as they continued to turn around in search of what they knew nothing about. “Everyone should remain calm,” Patrick said amidst the silence that was accompanied by so much tension that lingered in the air. Suddenly, the sound came back again, but this time, it was a bit slower and happened where they were not looking, causing them to turn around instantly to know what had made the sound, but they saw nothing. “Guys? I think someone is here with us;

CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN “I am tired, guys. Whatever it was should either show up or continue hiding in the woods; I don’t care.” Lucy gave up almost immediately, and then she slowly lowered her weapon while she took in a deep breath, which she let out slowly. The rest of the crew joined her almost immediately while she walked toward her right with her dagger hanging in her left hand while she held onto it casually. “I guess she was right, after all; it was a false alarm,” Heather said calmly and with a smirk on her face. She slowly took the arrow off the string on her bow, and then she sighed before looking at her brother, who lowered his weapon almost immediately. The two elves turned to look at Patrick, who was still skeptical about letting go of their guards. He had his eyes looking everywhere around him while he got ready to make sure of his energy blade. “I think you need to lower your weapon, Patrick. There is absolutely no need to be worried; nothing is coming to attack us.” B

CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT “Patrick? What do you think?” Borius asked coldly, looking at Patrick, who stared at him for a while without saying a word. Again, Heather wasn’t pleased that her brother was asking the Human for his opinion, but for some reason, she decided to be quiet about it even though her countenance showed the displeasure that she was unable to hide. “This is really a tough situation, Borius. I am not sure what to think about this. We might end up in a very difficult and deadly situation if we continue without the map, and it is already looking like we are going to be meeting worse situations with each passing moment.” Patrick said eventually, and Heather scoffed with a smirk on her face. “Of course, he will not have any meaningful thing to say.” She said only to her hearing, and even though Patrick heard something from her that he wasn't sure of, he decided to maintain his decision of ignoring her tantrums. “Do you guys think Dwayne left us to continue the mission all

CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE “What do you think, Seth? What does this mean?” Patrick asked politely, looking at Seth, who briefly looked around him before he returned his gaze to Patrick. “Well? Do you have anything to tell us?” “Why don’t you let him think properly, Heather?” Borius said angrily, and then he grunted at his sister’s behavior, which was making him really angry. “Alright, I will not speak again, I promise.” Heather lifted her hands to indicate full surrender while she held onto her weapons. “I really hope you keep to your promise. This is not the time to be sarcastic, Heather. Let him do what he knows how to do.”“And I already said I was not going to speak again, Borius! He can go ahead and do whatever he wants to do; I am not stopping him, am I?” Heather said almost immediately, and then she changed her gaze from her brother to Seth, who was staring at him with an expression that showed that he didn’t believe her. “I am sorry, Seth. I am sorry for being so unreasonable. P

CHAPTER SEVENTY The sounds of strange chirping and noisy rustling met their eyes a few minutes into the woods, and they felt chilly tingles engulfing their bodies. “Are we not there yet?” Seth asked in a whisper, looking around while he tried to take complete control of his shaky legs that displayed the fright that was trying to totally get rid of his nervousness. The path ahead of them was filled with a lot of dry leaves that had fallen from the trees, and with each step they took came several rustlings that made them wary of the party ahead of them, but Lucy seemed a bit calm even though she was walking slowly as though she was trying to avoid a snare set along the path they trod on. “Are we not there yet?” Borius asked nervously, looking at Lucy, who turned around slowly to look at him with a smile on her face. “Almost, Borius. We are almost there.” She said without letting go of her smile, and then she returned her gaze to the direction she was headed and continued walking at

CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE “Lucy?” “Yes! Yes, I am here! I am okay! I am fine!” Lucy drifted back to reality, and then she nodded instantly to affirm her words, but Patrick was still skeptical about the response she gave to him, even though her smile stood as a backup for her claims. Patrick observed her for a while out of concern, and when he saw something strange about her, he couldn’t stop pointing it out. “Your dagger? Where is it?” Patrick asked in a low tone, looking all over Lucy for the dagger she seemed to be very fond of. “Mmmh?” Lucy mumbled almost immediately, looking all over herself as though she was completely clueless about what he was talking about while the others turned to look at her as well. “I meant your dagger, the one you said was very special to you. Where is it?” “Oh! That?” Lucy chuckled as though she had finally come back to her senses while everyone waited to hear what she was going to say. “I don’t know, it must have fallen off somewhere,” Lucy said calm
