CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE “This is ginger but from Africa, these are bitter kolas, they help stabilize the blood pressure. This is segmented tobacco, this is citrus liquid, you already know what this is. Do I really have to explain all these or should I continue with trying to cure your family members?” Rowen asked suddenly realizing that he had wasted a lot of time explaining some of the items on the table. “Please! Carry on.” Mr. Gomez said and shifted the way. Rowen slowly lifted the mortar and moved with it towards the beds. As soon as Scarlett saw him approaching, she stood up and wiped the tears in her eyes. “May I?” Rowen asked requesting to start with her mother. Scarlett walked away from the side of the bed, allowing Rowen to walk through. Just a look at the poor woman, Rowen bent over and checked her pulses, then he looked at Silvia and then at Silas. “These are similar symptoms to yours Mr. Gomez. I fear this could be manipulated. There is only one way to find out and I must

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE “Very well, I hope we have an understanding that once I am done, I get what we bargained for.” “Definitely! That won’t be a problem.” Mr. Gomez replied still not aware of what was involved. He looked at Scarlett, but she was all over her mother, looking to see if she needed anything. Rowen sighed slowly, then he picked up the mortar and headed over to Silvia in a slow but steady voice. As he moved, gradually Mr. Gomez changed his attention to his daughter. Rowen also took a spoonful of the substance in the mortar, and just as he had done to Clara, he applied some on Silvia’s nostrils and also in her mouth, then he stood up and went towards Silas. He also did the same to him, then he went back to the table where his properties were and kept the mortar with the instrument that looked like forceps on the table. Carefully, he unfolded the white napkin to reveal the area which he had used to wipe the blood that came out from Clara’s ears. As he gazed upon it, his

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE “Thank you!” He said surprisingly to the amazement of Rowen who responded with a smile. Then he extended his hand to the bedspread and scooped some of the blood with his fingers. With his fingers rubbing hard on the blood, he observed the blood and sighed in satisfaction. “Silas? Silas are you alright?” Clara asked, straining from her bed to look at her son who seemed rather quiet and didn’t move. “Yeah, I am fine,” Silas responded without recognizing the voice that had spoken to him. Gradually, he turned to see who it was as the voice sounded faint but familiar. “Mum? What is going on here? Scarlett? Dad?” He said blinking his eyes gradually as a result of the blurry vision he had. “Rest son, everything will be explained to you later.” Mr. Gomez said to his son still holding on to Silvia’s hand tenderly caressing it. “Oh, Rowen! Thank you very much! I am super grateful, my family and I would forever be indebted to you!” Scarlett said as she got up and embrac

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN “Thank you for you time, I will go now.” Rowen said, then he turned and made his way towards the exit with the burden of disappointment weighing him down gradually. Rowen knocked on the door and one of the guards opened it to let him out. Taking in enough air, he exhaled sharply as he took the first step out of the room through the large wooden door.As she looked at him going out, Scarlett was pained that she couldn’t meet up with her own end of the bargain. She looked at her mother, but her eyes were closed and she didn’t look like she was going to open them anytime soon. “This is not right Dad! Not right at all.” “Maybe when you know what plans I have you would appreciate me.” Mr. Gomez said but by the time he had finished talking, Scarlett had already stormed out of the room. “Come back Scarlett! Why do you bother yourself so much.” Mr. Gomez called out to his daughter but she was already out of the room and far from sight. “Wait Rowen! Please wait I beg

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE “Is it ringing ? Has he picked?” Sandra asked impatiently but the look on Fred’s face showed that the person he was calling was not taking his call. After about a few seconds, Fred angrily took down the phone from his hand and clutched it tightly in his palm almost crushing it in anger. “Why isn’t he taking his bloody calls?” Fred yelled angrily almost startling Lady Brooks was so so deep in thoughts that she lost balance. “What’s happening? Why do you all look so worried.” Said the deep male voice ascending from the door of the hall. They didn’t even realize that someone else was amongst them. “Dad? There is a little problem.” Sandra said to her father almost letting out the tears that were gathered up in her glands ready to stream down. Seeing the look on his daughter’s face, Silas hastened his steps towards her and embraced her warmly still trying to figure out what was really the problem. “What troubles you my dear?” He asked as they both pulled out from
