The black sky finished its argument at dawn. The descending opening did not slow. Residual margins collapsed in a continuous curve until the circular fracture met the upper atmosphere over the eastern range and tore sideways—not one clean gate, a ripping of adjacency that turned the cloud layer into a wound. Sound arrived late: a pressure-change that blew windows in the living-side districts and sent every residual net into continuous scream. Through the tear, the Lower Realm’s depth became a vertical highway. Demon armies poured through. Not a single court banner. Mixed formations—blade lines, residual-heavy infantry, heavier shapes that the Sense filed as siege-class and worse—dropping on wings and on structured fall-paths the crimson channels had trained them for. They hit the range first, then the soft edges of the district, then the open approaches toward the city. The planetary seals burned red on Mira’s boards and held in places, failed in others, and nowhere held enough to mak

The headquarters became the center of the battle the moment the massive residual strike landed.Upper floors opened to the torn sky. Dampening layers failed in sequence. Demonic density poured into the gaps—blade-forms in the corridors, heavier residual shapes climbing the exterior, the continuous scream of a structure that had been built for containment and was now being used as a kill box. Emergency lighting died and came back on battery. The boards in the hardened core still painted seal margins and extract corridors in failing colors.Romeo refused the pull-out.Mesh leads still inside the ring, med techs moving wounded toward a loading ramp that existed for another four minutes if the residual maps were honest, continuity staff who had stayed when the Vice President stayed. “We do not leave our people in a burning node,” he hit the internal channel. “Hold the ramp corridor. Account every name on the last roster. If you can walk, you walk someone who can’t.” It was the opposite of

The collapsing sky did not finish its first full descent.A second demonic presence cut into the residual map above the plaza—dense, formal, complete in a way Elias’s broken restraints still only approximated. Not Seraphine’s controlled signature. Not court-blade noise. The Sense hit it and the hitch under his sternum answered with recognition before the mind caught up: the same cadence as the armor’s whispers, the same weight as the man on the black glass, the same residual structure the cracked pendant had once been built to quiet in a child.Elias’s father stood in the torn air between the Sovereign’s pressure and the burning headquarters.Wings of a formal configuration Elias had only worn in pieces. No crown. No throne geometry. A prisoner’s absolute posture turned outward at last. The residual wind around him carried house marks the Lower Realm cities still carved into walls. Elias’s own wings stuttered mid-hover. Blood on his lip. Kira’s hand tight on his arm. On the ground, Ro

Elias attacked without a count and without a leash. The forced power sat in him like a second skeleton. Formal configuration continuous—scales, full wings, armor locked, the gold in his eyes only a thin personal ring away from finished interface. He did not inventory exits. He did not price memory gaps. He drove into the residual density above the burning headquarters and tore through the demon generals that had been anchoring the descent: blade-lords, siege-cores, formal house traitors who still wore CROWE marks like borrowed authority. Black flame left his hands in wide matte sheets that consumed residual structure and fall-paths and the clean geometry of formations. Where the flame passed, the battlefield became absence—no bodies to loot, no banners to plant, only the smell of spent power and the continuous scream of a sky that would not close. The First Sovereign was finally forced to fight him seriously. Not a measuring thrust. Not an editorial pressure from altitude. Full displa

He reached her before the core finished taking the fall.Wings and shadow and a spend of forced power that opened the irregular storm in his chest into continuous pain—Elias cut across the residual distance she had bought with the push and caught Kira as the dimensional energy tried to claim the rest of the drop. They hit a failing shelf of residual structure at the edge of the collapse line, hard enough to crack what remained of his formal armor. Her weight in his arms was wrong. The gold-and-silver frequency was almost gone. Blood from the wound the Sovereign’s thrust had opened through her barrier soaked the plates over his chest.Around them the war continued—Romeo’s broken mesh, Mira’s stuttering dampers, the torn sky, the weakened Sovereign reloading geometry a sector out. On the shelf, for a moment that the architecture had no right to grant, everything became quiet.Kira’s eyes found his. The thin personal ring still left in his almost-total gold reflected there.“I’m not afra
