The world around him slowly faded, as he could barely open his eyes. He heard voices, footsteps, and the sound of a car moving through traffic, but he could no longer understand what anyone was saying. Eventually, everything became completely dark. When Scott opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was a bright operating-theater light above him. He blinked several times and moved his head slowly, trying to understand where he was. “Where am I?” he whispered.A female doctor entered the room and immediately noticed that his eyes were open. “You're awake,” she said, approaching the bed. Scott looked at her for several seconds before asking, “What happened to me?”“You were brought here in critical condition,” the doctor replied. She checked the monitor beside him before continuing, “You had gunshot wounds, and you lost a dangerous amount of blood.” Scott looked down at his body, realizing only then how serious the situation had been.“But you're lucky,” the doctor continued. “Whoe

“I only asked for your account details because I wanted to thank you,” Scott said. The man stared at him as though he had suddenly discovered that the injured patient lying in front of him was not an ordinary man.“You didn't have to do this,” the man said. Scott slowly stood despite the pain and approached him. The man instinctively moved as though he wanted to kneel.Scott quickly grabbed his arm and stopped him. “Please don't do that.” Instead, Scott lowered himself and bowed his head slightly. “Thank you for saving my life.”The man looked overwhelmed. “Anyone would have done the same.” Scott shook his head. “Not everyone would have stopped to help.”Scott turned toward the doctor. “You said the remaining fee is two thousand dollars?” The doctor nodded slowly. “Yes.”“I'll send five thousand.” Scott picked up his phone. “Use the remaining three thousand for yourself.” The doctor's eyes widened.“Mr. Scott, I can't accept that,” she said. Scott smiled. “You can.”“But why?” she ask

Suddenly, a pop notification sound sounded in his brain.Ding!Scott stared at the screen in silence, his breathing shallow as the new mission appeared before his eyes.[New mission][Objective: Rescue Host's Manager][Time Limit: 33 Hours.[Reward +10 Super Points][Failure Penalty: $250,000,000 deduction from Host's balance][Additional penalty: Host skills would be locked for 24hrs]His fingers tightened around the phone when he realized the system had given him another stronger mission. He wanted to do it alone but with the presence of the system, he must adhere to the system's instructions. But before he could even think about the mission, pain shot through his wounded body again.“I’m badly injured, and I need to be healed before I do anything,” Scott muttered, leaning back against the elevator. He had just been discharged from the hospital, under a different circumstance and the wounds from the attack were still fresh enough to remind him of every second he had spent fighting f

Less than ten minutes later, Spike hurried inside the building. His eyes immediately moved over Scott's body, and confusion appeared on his face when he saw that there was a trace of the injuries on him. “master, what happened to you?” he asked, unable to hide his surprise.“There's no time to explain,” Scott replied as he walked toward the vehicle. “My manager has been kidnapped, and the people holding her have given me conditions.” Spike opened the door for him, but his expression became serious the moment he heard how serious he looked.Once inside, Scott told him to drive while he pulled out his phone and contacted Richard. He explained everything about the call, including the demand to stop helping the Cape Town university epidemic and the stranger's insistence that certain people be returned. “I want every piece of information you can find about Rhoda's disappearance,” he ordered.“Alright. I'll try my best” Richard muttered immediately. While Spike drove through the city. “Do w

He also took with him another set of documents showing that Zaha, Smith, and the had been released under his authority. The documents looked official enough to satisfy someone who only wanted proof, but Scott knew they would discover the truth if they investigated too deeply.“Let them believe I surrendered,” he said quietly. “Once they show themselves, we'll know exactly where they stand.” Spike nodded without asking another question. The armed security personnel were divided into two groups and positioned around the hidden facility. They remained out of sight, using nearby buildings and concealed positions to ensure the kidnappers would not realize that Scott had brought reinforcements.Scott arrived at the location later that evening with only Spike visibly accompanying him. The one hundred thousand dollars was placed inside a heavy black briefcase, while the documents were kept in a separate folder beneath the cash.He looked at the hidden facility from a distance before stepping

The caller gave a furious laugh before replying, “You will find out soon enough.” The line suddenly went dead, leaving Scott staring at the phone pressed against his ear as the silence settled around him. He slowly lowered it, his fingers tightening around the device while the calm expression on his face became colder than before. For several seconds, Scott said nothing as he stared at the dark screen. The man's voice kept replaying in his mind, especially the confidence behind those final words. Whoever was hiding behind that call knew something about him, and Scott had no intention of letting the matter end there. He slipped the phone into his pocket, shifting back to the woman he had come to rescue. Still held in her arms, with her hands trembling slightly as one of the security officers helped her to her feet. Scott stepped closer and looked at her carefully. “Are you hurt?” Rhoda shook her head again.“Not seriously,” she answered. Scott with his whole focus on her asked out of

Scott stared at the unknown number on his screen before answering. “Who is this?” he asked, his voice low and authoritative. At first, there was a brief silence from the other end. After a moment, Scott ended the call and turned to Richard. “Forget the number. Find the man who escaped.”The operative had planned his escape, likely preparing several routes before the rescue. Chasing him blindly would only drive him deeper underground, Scott ordered Richard to follow quietly and identify his destination before making a move.“I want to know where he sleeps, who he talks to, and who pays him,” Scott said.Richard nodded. “And if we find him?”“Don't touch him yet.”Richard raised an eyebrow. “I want the person he's working for, and that's all.”Several minutes later, Richard returned with the first lead. He set a tablet in front of Scott and opened a company profile that looked almost painfully ordinary.“We found the trail,” Richard said. The company was called Black Stone Security, a p

Scott stepped out of the vehicle with Rhoda beside him, but his eyes remained on the road behind them. The rescue had ended, yet the feeling of danger had not. One of the kidnappers had escaped, and Scott knew better than to believe that meant the matter was over.Rhoda noticed his silence and touched his arm. “Mr. Scott, you saved me. You should at least breathe for a moment.”Scott looked at her and softened slightly. “Are you hurt?”“I’m fine. Shaken, maybe, but I’m fine.” She forced a small smile. “You came for me. That is what matters.”“I would have come no matter what.”Rhoda lowered her eyes for a second. “I know. That is why I’m still trying to understand why someone would target me.”Scott was silent for some seconds. His mind returned to the phone call, the unknown man's confident voice, and the warning he had given before ending the call. You will find out soon enough. It echoed across his mind that he must pay attention to it, at all cost.He had no intention of waiting a

"You'll need her”Scott was dumbfounded at first, his eyes and his full attention were drawn to what he held in his hand. He couldn't fully understand the message it was passing but he grabbed it, putting it rightly in his briefcase. He was still trying to process everything and to ask further deeper questions when he heard a sound. It was his system, silent and invisible, that only he could see.[Ding!][New Incoming mission, hidden mission][Protect the Heiress.][Reward: $50,000.00][Failure: Host #Medical ability will be locked]Scott's expression changed for a moment, that the sudden appearance interrupted his concentration. The wording immediately made him suspicious. Protect the Heiress sounded simple, yet Scott sensed something far more complicated behind it. He glanced at the lady seated opposite him before slowly pushing his chair back. “Excuse me for a moment, I need to use the restroom.”The lady nodded, seemingly unconcerned by his sudden departure. Once he reached the r

Scott barely had time to process her words before several men suddenly appeared in their path. Their movements were deliberate, and the moment they surrounded her, Scott sensed danger even without any warning.“Stay behind me,” Scott said quietly. She looked at him with confusion, but before she could respond, one of the men stepped forward.“Move aside,” the man ordered. Scott looked at him calmly.“Why?” he asked, his eyes fully focused on him.“This doesn't concern you,” the man replied. “Walk away!”“You're making a mistake, and it will be the decision you'll regret in your entire life,” he said. The man frowned, clearly annoyed by Scott's refusal to move.“You don't even know who you're talking to,” the man said. Scott looked at the others surrounding them and replied, “And you don't know who you're talking to either.”The men exchanged glances before one of them suddenly lunged at Scott. Scott shifted aside at the last moment and struck him hard enough to send him stumbling back
