Chapter 021
“What the fuck?” Hans barked, pulling his dick out of Vicky’s mouth and stepping away abruptly. He yanked his pants up around his crotch, zipping himself up and threading his belt through the buckle in a hurry.“You useless piece of shit!” Hans’s words were clearly directed as Perry, as he scurried over and flung them in his face. Perry flinched. I decided to let him go, but left him a parting gift. As he took a step away, I reached out with my knife and slashed at him, opening up a long gash on his forearm. Perry yelped, clearly still terrified after having been so close to death, and pressed his hand to his arm immediately.“Do I have to do everything myself?!” Hans continued, spittle flying from his mouth and hitting Perry in the face. “You said you knew how to fight! You said you were the strongest man and could stand up against this loser Forrest Chaplain and take him on! You’re nothing but a moronic fucking
Chapter 022
The distinct, rhythmic whooshing of helicopter rotors rang out, and I ran out of the cave to wave frantically at the sky.“Here! Here!” I shouted, jumping up and down in an effort to be spotted. The chopper pilot banked toward us, and the noise intensified to a point where I had to cover my eyes or risk being deafened. Yvonne, Elsa, and Euphie joined me, and they all waved and shouted at the pilot. Slowly, the helicopter began to descend, and it landed on the grassy plain in front of the cave. The backwash from the rotors forced us to retreat to the mouth of the cave, where we waited until the helicopter stopped buffeting the surrounding air.“There’s a woman inside the cave. She’s dead,” I informed the first member of the rescue team as a squad of jumpsuit-clad men approached us. “And there’s one more man, too. He attacked me and I had to defend myself. I don’t know if he’s dead or not.”Right before m

“That’s so cool!” Yvonne gushed, sounding as though she were a schoolgirl fangirling over her favourite pop star for just a moment. I grinned awkwardly, still a little taken aback by the fact that Yvonne Louis, the top influencer at our company, found me cool.“That’s the plant,” I pointed out when I spotted a little cluster of clove trees. We had walked for only twenty minutes so far, but I was already feeling a little tired. Fighting with Perry and Hans had been more draining than I had accounted for, since I had been wounded, after all. The laceration on my forearm was throbbing painfully, and I grimaced.“Forrest! Is your arm hurting very badly?” Yvonne gasped, taking my hand. Her palm was soft and cool as she laced her fingers with mine, lifting my arm so that she could take a look. The bandages she had wrapped around my forearm were still intact, and it looked like the gash hadn’t reopened, since there was no fres

Claire and Rosie looked disbelievingly at Elsa, unsure of whether to take her words at face value or not. After all, both of them were not very familiar with Elsa. Elsa oversaw the department that edited their videos, and bossed around the minions like me who did the grunt work, but was she to be trusted? Yvonne stepped forward, a big, welcoming grin on her face. Maybe they’ll believe Yvonne, since she’s in the same department, I thought. And Yvonne’s so well-respected within the ranks, too, since she’s been the top streamer for months now.“It’s okay. Really! You’ll be fine with us,” Yvonne chimed in, nodding eagerly. “We take turns to keep guard at night and we do it in pairs, so you won’t ever be the only one awake. We also share all our food with one another!” At the mention of food, Claire and Rosie perked up.“Sorry. I think we finished off most of the chicken in the stew. There’s some cass

“Okay, Elsa,” I stammered, disentangling my fingers from hers successfully this time. “I… I do like you, too. But the fact is that before the plane crash, you never thought of me as anything more than your employee. You were just my manager back then, and you didn’t think I was worth pursuing. What do you think is going to happen when we get rescued? It’s been days, and I think the rescue team has to be on its way.”“I don’t know. I guess we go back and keep working, and maybe we’ll be in the news for a while since we did work for a pretty big company,” Elsa replied, her tone uncertain.“Exactly, Elsa. We’re going to go back and keep working, and you might change your mind and find me absolutely boring when we’re back in our own roles,” I explained, trying not to sound frustrated. How had she not worked that out already? “I think you might just be starting to like me because yo

The next day, our good luck held out. We went out hunting - or foraging, rather - again, and we managed to locate more cassava in another location. Since one of our concerns had been the possibility that we would wind up overpicking or overusing the natural supplies that we had found, the discovery of numerous cassava plants had been most welcome.“It’s already been a week. Do you think we’ll be rescued soon?” Yvonne asked, spooning some mashed cassava into her mouth when we sat down for lunch.“I agree. We should have been rescued by now,” Elsa added, her brows meeting as she frowned. We had done quite a fair bit to ensure that we could be found. Since it was difficult to keep a fire going on the beach while we took shelter in the cave, we gathered large stones and arranged them so that they spelled out “SOS” in huge letters on the beach. We took turns to go down and check that they had not been washed away by the tide, and

Now, we numbered six. Seven, if you counted Hans, but I knew that none of us was about to waste our precious resources on him, so we were six. Even though we were careful to conserve what we had, we knew that the biggest problem was the constant need to distill water. It was the most time-consuming task, because the tools we had to work with were just too limited. We were limited by the amount of distilled water we could collect at once in twolittle tuna tins, and we were limited by the small surface area of the lid we held over the large tin for water vapor to condense on.That was the foremost concern I had the second day we were at Hans’s camp. Day had broken, and we were just setting about our daily tasks. Euphie had gone to collect seawater, which Elsa was dutifully boiling so that she could distill it. Rosie was taking care of breakfast, and Yvonne and Claire had gone out to forage.“You motherfuckers,” Hans rasped. And as for my task? Well, I

“What! Fresh water?” Yvonne exclaimed, her face lighting up instantly. The rest of the girls were just as eager, and Elsa and I led them there. First, though, we tied Bernard up and left him with Hans. Although Bernard had led us to the river as he had promised, none of us was under the illusion that he would behave himself if we let him loose. If we left him alone in the camp with Hans and all our supplies… I shuddered at the thought, and made sure that the ropes binding both Bernard and Hans were knotted as tightly as possible.“Wow, the water is so clear!” Claire marveled as soon as we arrived. The girls and I stood by the river bank, clearly grateful for our good fortune. The river was indeed very clear - it was so clear that we could see all the way down to the river bed, which wasn’t very far away. The water was shallow enough that we could stand comfortably in it, which meant that we didn’t have to be afraid of being washed away

“Wait. Aren’t Yvonne, Elsa, and Euphie right there?” I hissed, not daring to turn around. Rosie stilled, her hand on my cock ceasing to move, and I felt rather than saw her head turn. Her wet hair brushed against my back as she did so, then I felt the brush of hair again as she turned back around.“No. They’re getting ready to leave,” she whispered, standing up on her tiptoes in order to speak into my ear.“Okay. Then we’d better hold off until they do so,” I whispered back. Rosie huffed, but she let go of me. I did like sex, yes, but being an exhibitionist wasn’t quite what I was aiming for. I dove underwater, swimming a short distance away from everyone, taking the chance to enjoy the solitude. Back in the city, I would have considered myself lonely. But now, with five women around me all the time, I wanted a little solitude.A few minutes later, Rosie swam up to me. “They’re gone,” she in

“Where did Hans go?!” I shouted, my words exploding out of me in a deafening yell. I whipped out the kitchen knife I had stashed in my pants, the crude sheath of leaves I had constructed falling away as I charged straight into the heart of the cave, pointing my knife into the darkness. Horror washed over me as I sprinted into the cave, the girls following behind me, hot on my heels. We had left Hans in a shady spot out of the sun’s rays, along with Bernard. Although Bernard had cooperated with us and had given us vital information about the river, we had not trusted him enough to leave him unbound, since he could have raided all our supplies for himself. Leaving him in the cave alone with Hans had clearly been a mistake, even though both of them had been tied up.Only Bernard remained. However, he was lying so still that I knew that something had to have happened. Did Hans attack him, or did Hans simply eliminate him because he didn’t want to take him al
