“What if I don’t want to?” Quinn grimaced. “What are you going to do if I don’t want to?”The man smiled and gestured toward him. At once, the shadows around Quinn surged forward and wrapped around his body like thick ropes, pinning his arms and legs against the stone floor.“What if you don’t want to? Do you think you have a choice in this matter?”Quinn narrowed his eyes. He paid little attention to the shadows binding him and instead studied the man in front of him. “So, you’re going to take me and do what exactly? You still haven’t told me who you people are.”The man snorted. “Let me guess, you’re buying time so someone can come to your rescue, right? No one will come. I’ve already separated us from the outside world with illusions. Besides that, the people with me are enough to finish the job.”Quinn’s heart sank when he heard that. Things were clearly worse than he had expected.Still, he refused to simply surrender.Words were weapons too. People used them to get inside an opp

The beast had the long neck of a vulture, but scales covered its body from head to tail. Its torso was short and rounded like a duck’s, while its wings stretched far wider than its body. It flapped them gently as it descended, sending cold gusts of wind toward the people below. The Dragonkin riding on its back stared directly at Quinn.“So, you are the Dragon.”Shadowwind was tall and lanky, with sharp, hawk-like eyes that looked even more severe beneath the pale moonlight. He stepped off the beast and floated down until his feet touched the ground as lightly as a feather. At that moment, the jellyfish beast vanished in a small burst of light.Shadowwind touched down and gave Quinn a polite bow.“Good to meet you, Lord Quinn. I am here to bring you to the boss.”Quinn raised his brows. This was the first time he had encountered such a polite kidnapping. A kidnapper who introduced himself properly before dragging his target away? He almost found it amusing.Taurus moved slightly in fro

Quinn could barely follow their conversation as his mind struggled to process everything happening around him. More than anything else, one fact kept dominating his thoughts.Captain Yemi was standing right in front of him.Captain Yemi, who was supposed to be dead.Captain Yemi, who now wanted his head.Quinn gave a bitter smile. “Eh… I’ll really like to go with Shadowwind.”Both men turned toward him.Yemi sneered. “You little shit. What are you talking?”Before Quinn could say anything else, Yemi disappeared from his position. His speed was so great that it almost looked as though he had teleported. In the next instant, he was already in front of Quinn, his sword descending toward Quinn’s neck with enough force to stir the air around the blade.Quinn did not even try to dodge.Ping! The sword struck a mass of hardened air and bounced away.Yemi immediately turned toward Shadowwind, anger flashing across his face.“You have already done your part. You should leave now. I don’t give

Disappointment settled over Quinn as he watched Captain Yemi turn around and walk away.He had hoped the conflict between Yemi and Shadowwind would give him the opening he needed to escape. Unfortunately, neither of them had any intention of fighting each other. What a waste of tension.Quinn sighed and raised his hand toward Taurus’s shoulder. He would have to return to his original plan and continue feeding Void energy into Taurus. Yemi had interrupted him before he could finish, but there was still time.Shadowwind turned his attention toward the retreating Captain, making sure Yemi was actually leaving. That was when the ground suddenly shook. The earth directly beneath Shadowwind exploded upward with tremendous force, sending stones flying into the air with a thunderous roar.Shadowwind reacted immediately.A current of wind carried him upward along with his beast, lifting him away from the blast just in time.Something burst from the ground where he had been standing.A massive

Shadowwind’s beast spread its wings wide, and a powerful gust burst from beneath them. The wind shot forward with a howling shockwave, carrying countless blades of compressed air that spun through the courtyard. They sliced into the stone walls one after another, carving through them as the wind blades curved around and tore the structures apart.Quinn stared at the display of power. The stones groaned before collapsing in great chunks, raising a thick cloud of dust. Shadowwind swept his arm through the air, and twisting currents immediately drove the dust away.Captain Yemi stood on top of the ruined stones, staring up at him with a flat expression.Shadowwind snorted. “Why create walls? I have no intention of running. I have already decided that you will die. And so you will.”Yemi said nothing. He crouched low, and the muscles in his legs expanded. The next instant, he exploded forward like lightning. The stones beneath his feet were crushed into dust from the force of his accelera

Shadowwind’s expression hardened with annoyance. “You’ll meet him soon enough.”Quinn smiled, and there was a faint trace of madness in his eyes. “Shadowwind, do you know the history of that red that’s above in the sky?”Shadowwind did not bother looking up. He had already seen the strange color while fighting earlier. “No. What is it?”Quinn spread his hands as if inviting him to consider something much older than the battle around them. “Long ago, in the West and even in the Empire, anywhere people saw the red eyes, they came to know it as a symbol of war and bloodshed.“The Dragon isn’t always only the symbol of the Drakemont. We are red. The red of blood. The red of anger. Before the pathways, before the first stone of the Empire, there has always been the red.“The red of the Drakemont. The red of war.”“What are you talking about?” Shadowwind asked, his voice tightening.Quinn raised one hand toward the area where the palace and the great hall should have been. At the same time,

They hunted.Just as Quinn had promised.Taurus and Quinn raced through the blood fog, their red eyes allowing them to see through the crimson haze as easily as if it were not there. They moved like streaks across the castle, leaping over walls and broken structures as they followed the sounds of battle. The blood fog made it easy to locate areas where fighting was still taking place, and whenever they sensed a clash nearby, they immediately headed toward it.“Don’t get killed, Captain,” Quinn ordered as they reached the first battlefield. What greeted them was a slaughter. The blood fog had completely disrupted the senses of every Dragonkin who did not possess the Drakemont’s red eyes, regardless of how high their Advancement Stage was. Many of them stumbled around in confusion, unable to determine where their enemies were. Some threw wide punches at empty air, hoping to strike anything that came close, while others unleashed techniques and skills in every direction. It did not matte

The sun was already up.Its light spread across the castle grounds, gradually burning away the last traces of the blood fog that had covered Blanktar through the night.Quinn Drakemont stood in the courtyard with his robe soaked in blood and his face splattered with it. One hand rested behind his back as he surveyed the countless bodies scattered across the ground. The sight did not seem to bother him much.“What a mess,” he muttered.Taurus remained beside him, acting as his guard. Most of his swords were gone, leaving only the single blade still gripped in his hand. His clothes were just as stained with blood as Quinn’s, evidence of the fighting he had taken part in throughout the night. Before dawn arrived, the blood fog had already alerted the rest of Blanktar to what was happening at Dragon Castle. The different stations throughout the city quickly dispatched their men, and by the time the sun rose, the situation had changed considerably. The surviving intruders had been captured

Quinn returned to his room after finishing his orders. The first thing he wanted was a bath to wash the blood and dirt from his body. Several members of the Dragon Guards who had survived the night followed him, along with a few people from the New Dawn. Quinn did not question them or tell them to leave. He simply allowed them to do as they pleased. Judging by the way they now treated him, it was clear that their view of him had changed after everything that had happened.“What a shitty night,” Quinn muttered as he lowered himself into the large tub prepared by the servants. The water was warm, and for a moment, he simply sat there while the dirt and blood slowly washed away. The water had already become filthy by the time Quinn climbed out and moved to another tub that had been prepared for him. He lowered himself into the clean water, soaked his head, and rubbed his face before releasing a tired sigh.“Time to do some thinking. There are a lot of people involved in tonight’s executi

Quinn studied Arthur as he entered the room. The Dragon Lord looked pale and slightly thinner than he had the night before, but his eyes were still burning with the same intensity.…He must have been caught completely off guard by yesterday as well…Quinn almost smiled.…I’m glad you didn’t die, you bastard maker… I still haven’t felt the satisfaction of having your blood on my hands…His gaze moved across the room, taking in everyone else who had been called to the meeting.Vyyar Drakemont sat near the table, her face tired and worn from the night’s events, yet her eyes still carried their usual sharpness. Beside her sat a red-eyed man. Opposite him was another man with black hair streaked with white and a pair of brown eyes.Quinn immediately noticed something strange about the second man.He had no Dragonkin aura at all, yet there was something about his presence that suggested someone accustomed to giving orders and being obeyed.Farther away from the main table was another smalle
