chapter 41
With Mara on his side, Andrew knew he wouldn’t need to worry about almost half of the stuff needed for the movement. Andrew knew that no matter what, Mara must have some type of connection, so let her do the job. He does not want to get to involved in this job because this was something that he despised.Mara was well connected. She knew who and who in the city could outsource the vehicles needed. She knew who in the police department would collect a little token and let the truck pass, and she knew who would drive the truck to the city centre without breaking or ruining the business.Andrew presented her with his draft. She glanced carefully at it as they drove out of the estate in his car, and then she placed it on her lap.“I bet Marlon would provide us with a van,” she said. “A truck would draw unnecessary attention to us.”Andrew gave her a curt nod.“Take left.”Andrew obeyed, and then the journey dragged for half an hour before coming to an end at a massive junkyard. Andrew al
Chapter 42: What his friends became.
Mara returned shortly with her face bowed like she’d gone for confession and earned a penance from the priest. She looked up as soon as she arrived at the pew. Andrew’s head was still bowed in silence. She cleared her throat, and Andrew jolted up. She winked at him, and he joined her.Together, they strolled out of the church building.“What did you discuss with the priest?” Andrew asked.“I asked him to receive the gifts coming to the church tonight,” Mara replied and passed the car key to Andrew. “Half of your problem is solved. Now, it’s time to meet your client for further arrangement.”Andrew grabbed her arm. “There’s no further arrangement. I already signed the contract. He would call me and inform me when the consignment is shipped in.”Mara rolled her eyes. “Okay, take me home then.”She shrugged her arm off Andrew’s grip and made for the car. Andrew followed her to the car. “Marlon never mentioned he would deliver the vans tonight.”“Shhhhhhhh…” Mara placed an index finger on
Chapter 43: A Grandfather’s love
Andrew was on his way back home when he received a call from his grandfather. He answered the call.“I want to see you. When can you make time to come and see me?” his grandfather asked him.Andrew thought about it. After the shipment arrived tomorrow, he might not have any time to come and see his grandfather because he would be busy with everything that needed to be taken care of.So, he told his grandfather that he was going to see him today. His grandfather ended the call and told him he would be expecting him.Andrew made a sharp U-turn and drove to his grandfather's house. When he got there, the maids bowed respectfully and led him to the dining table, where his grandfather was sitting.“Have you had something to eat this afternoon? Join me and eat,” his grandfather gestured to the seat beside him.Andrew walked over and sat down. He greeted his grandfather, and the old man only nodded.Andrew began eating, and for a while, everywhere was quiet. Then his grandfather suddenly sai

The next day came more quicker than he expected. Andrew has no liking for cigars, but Jan offered him the big brown one left in his box, and Mara focused more on the cannabis as they watched men Andrew had arranged load a forty-ton load of cocaine into two black vans. Mara had retrieved the vans from the church where Marlon had left them with the priest.Andrew, on the other hand, had arranged how the consignment would move from the docks to the city center without obstruction. Mara had already done her thing with the corrupt cops just to ensure nothing stopped the vans if ever the police were able to uncover the movement of the vans. They watched in silence as the last load entered the van, then Andrew made his way to the vans along with Mara and shut the vans. Jan, on the other hand, stood still at his spot, smoking a white cigar. He had offered Andrew the big brown one because he wanted to accord the honor of the man doing the largest end of the job to him.Andrew nodded at Mar
Chapter 45: A bad friend.
Andrew was not even surprised that he has fainted, because no matter how much he wanted to deny it he knew that he was sick even it's not physically, his mind was not at rest and he could barely sleep these days.He sighed. He just wanted to help his friend, but the guy screwed him over.Did Jan find out he wanted to arrest the drug buyers.Andrew thought that he fainted because he was tired, but the doctor told him he was poisoned. Jan didn’t just elope with the money. The cigar he had gifted Andrew was poisoned with a kind of poison that doesn’t strike quite fast. It took time, but it was deadly. Andrew had been lucky to survive it. He had been lucky to have Mara with him. If not, he could have passed on in his dream, and no one would ever talk about the money.Andrew could not believe it, he just wanted his friend to take the Money and leave and he will report the people that bought the drugs to the police and his friend actually decided to poison him so that he will die.He sco

“I have a gift you would appreciate, Don,” Jan uttered as soon as a lady in a skimpy white gown walked into a massive chamber where he was nestled with a lean old man donning a tuxedo. The old man gave him a curt nod. “Can’t wait to have the gift you speak of. I just hope it’s worth it.”Jan smiled. “Sure, it is.”Jan snapped his fingers, and the lady moved towards him with the cigar box. She opened it, and Jan grabbed a big brown cigar stick from it and passed it to the man.“This is the gift I brought you,” he said. “Original Italian cigar, the type Don Coreon smoked in the days of the Italian Mafia.”The man raised the cigar and glanced at it for a while, then he lit it with a metal lighter and fixed it between his lips, sucking and puffing smoke into the air as Jan watched with a weak smile.“Do you like it?” Jan asked. The man nodded.“Great,” Jan said, still smiling. “Well, how much did you make from the sales of the white powder?”The old man stopped. He pulled the cig

The bar was lively inside with all the people drinking and making merry. Well, all except one person, he looked out of place in his suit. He was Andrew.“What's taking him so long?” He cursed under his breath, glancing at the wall clock for the umpteenth time.Andrew knows that he disappeared for 4 years and he has a lot of friends who needed his help and that was what he wanted to do now.“Do you want a refill of sugar?” A waitress paused by the table, sizing Andrew up. She was intrigued by him; it wasn't everyday people like Andrew popping up in a bar like the one they were in. She could tell from the gleaming black Cadillac parked outside that he came from money. Probably some hedge fund manager, she must've thought. She couldn't be further from the truth; he was bigger than that.“No thanks." Andrew shook his head. He reached into his wallet, getting ready to pay when the door opened and a man walked in. He glanced around and his eyes met Andrews.Andrew sat back down. “Actua
Chapter 48
“I got to where I am today by sheer grit and struggle. Who does he think he is?” Andrew snapped, talking to himself. He slammed the door and switched on the light; the light illuminated the penthouse suite he'd bought just over a year ago.He plopped on the couch, tossing his keys on the side stool. He'd accomplished nothing. He'd failed to reel in Rex, and he'd ended up making a scene at the bar with William. But Andrew wasn't bothered; he knew William would cover it up.The second most important thing to William after his ego was his public profile. He wouldn't let a whiff of scandal get to the public; even the circumstances surrounding the death of Andrew's wife had been covered up, by his ex in laws. In the public eye all they knew was she'd passed away due to an illness and she'd been buried quietly. No one would've guessed that Williams, whose wealth rivalled that of entire economies, would refuse to pay for his son's wife's treatment.Andrew resented him deeply for that; he'd
Chapter 49
When the morning light came through the window blinds, John was fast asleep, a little drool on his lips. After Andrew's deductions, they'd spent the night working through the clues they had; a lot of it was just deduction, but Andrew was fairly satisfied with their findings.Judging by John's exhausted face, getting him satisfied was far from easy.“Wake up,” Andrew tossed a pillow at John, startling him awake. He was already dressed to go; he checked the clock. 8:49.“What happened?” John jumped with a start; his sleepy actions made Andrew chuckle.“Get some rest, and chase down all the things we mentioned,” Andrew instructed. A man appeared mysteriously; he supported John, leading him away. He would drop him off at home.Andrew headed to the office after sending John home; he might've been wealthy, but his work ethic was as gruelling as that of a soldier. He'd learned early on that if he couldn't be lucky, he might as well outwork everyone and decide his fate. And it'd worked. The y
Chapter 50
Andrew was surprised when the security guard told him that his cousin was here to see him because nobody is supposed to know his identity as they were assistant CEO of Harrison group. He dismissed the man in his office. The door was pushed open, and a woman flashed a smile at him.“Hello, Andrew. Long time no see.”His cousin walked into the office. She was dressed in a white trench coat that accentuated her figure, her hair was packed in a ponytail, and her eyes were as dark as ever.“I like what you've done with the place,” she murmured, looking around the office. Andrew remained silent, his eyes fixed on her. She'd grown from a young girl with mischief in her eyes to the lady before him; even he was impressed.Andrew asked her how she knew that he was now the one here, and she just laughed and said nothing."I have my ways," she winked at him.“What do you want?” Andrew demanded, skipping all formalities. His cousin wasn't a friend, she wasn't a colleague, and she certainly wasn't
