The First Rebellion
"Move! Get under the archway!" Raka yelled, his voice cracking over the deafening screech of the drill."Raka, the door is locking!" Sofia shrieked, her hand slamming against the pristine metal frame of the sliding bulkhead. "It’s a pneumatic seal!""No, it's not. I've got the bypass!" Raka tapped his thumb frantically against the amber-lit disc in his hand. "Go, Sofia! Lead the guys down the hall! I need ten seconds at this panel!""Are you crazy? The ceiling is literally coming down on us!" Leo screamed, shielding his head as a chunk of white plaster shattered near his boots."Just run, Leo! Marcus, drag him if you have to!" Raka commanded, his eyes locked on the scrolling lines of blue code on the wall terminal."We're moving! Don't get yourself killed, boss!" Marcus shouted back. He grabbed Leo by the collar of his ruined uniform, dragging him backward down the sterile corridor as the rest of the shivering classmates followed in a panicked rush."Sofia, go with them!" Raka ordered
The Patch Notes
"Raka, drop the disc! It’s burning your hand!" Sofia yelled, her voice cutting through the mechanical hum of the terminal."I can't let it go!" Raka gritted his teeth, his fingers smoking as the metal grew white-hot. "If I drop it now, the system wipes our local profile! We lose the backdoor!""Are you crazy?" she snapped, grabbing his wrist and trying to pull his hand away. "It's literally melting your skin, Raka!""He’s right, Sofia! We have to move!" Marcus shouted over the rising alarms. "The bulkhead is starting to buckle! Those gravity templars are going to breach any second!""Fine! I've got it!" Raka barked, finally wrenching the hot metal disc free from the terminal socket with a wet, tearing sound. He stuffed it into his pocket, hissing in pain. "The console is completely locked. The Developer is patching the system. We have to run!""Which way?" Leo panicked, waving his spear wildly. "You said you have the map, Raka! Where is the exit?""The secondary maintenance hatch!" Ra
The Healer's Dilemma
"Don't you dare close your eyes, Sofia! Look at me!" Raka screamed, his voice cracking as the black, smoking veins crawled further up her neck."It's... it's too heavy, Raka," Sofia gasped, her hands weakly clawing at his damp sleeves. Her fingers left smudges of dark, freezing frost on the fabric. "The update... it's overriding my core...""Marcus, get over here!" Raka yelled, his eyes darting frantically to the shivering, groaning classmates scattered on the concrete ledge of the aqueduct. "Leo! Grab her legs! We need to move her now!""Move her where?" Leo cried, his voice trembling as he nursed his own empty, aching chest. "The whole sky just glitched out, Raka! My magic is gone, my shield is gone, and she's literally turning into a shadow!""She's not turning into a shadow, she's suffocating!" Marcus barked, dropping his useless, dull sword onto the concrete and kneeling beside Raka. "Raka, she's convulsing. The dark energy is clogging her airways!""The service door," Raka said,
The Defector
Sofia blinked, the glowing blue code casting a digital pattern across her pale cheeks. She stared at her own hands, twisting them back and forth in front of her face."What do you mean, synchronized?" she asked, her voice slightly layered with a strange, metallic resonance."I mean you're reading the raw system data," Raka said, his own hand still throbbing from the heat of the disc. "You're seeing the framework of AetherCorp's network.""It's... it's like a HUD," Sofia murmured, her glowing blue eyes darting around the small, sterile room. "But it's not a game menu. I can see the grid lines of this bunker. I can see the energy flowing through the light fixtures. It's all just... vectors.""This is crazy," Leo muttered, backing away until his spine hit the metal locker. "This is completely insane. She’s not even human anymore. Raka, what did you put in her?""It was a stabilizer, Leo," Raka said, keeping his voice calm despite the exhaustion pulling at his eyelids. "It saved her life.
Low-Tech Ambush
The metal door of the service bunker hissed as it fully sealed, shutting out the damp, cold air of the outer aqueduct. Inside, the hum of the fluorescent lights felt unnaturally loud."He's really gone," Sofia murmured, her fingers lightly touching the edge of the steel table. The blue binary code in her eyes slowly spun, casting a faint, digital glow over her pale face. "Leo actually took the card and ran.""He chose his side," Raka said, his voice flat. He was carefully wrapping a clean white bandage around his blistered palm. "I'm not going to waste energy worrying about a guy who wants to be corporate scrap.""But Raka, he knows about the backdoor," Chloe whimpered, clutching her useless wooden staff to her chest. She was shivering, her eyes wide with a lingering, child-like terror. "What if he tells them where we are?""He will," Marcus said, stepping into the room from the outer corridor. His dirty high school blazer was torn at the shoulder, and his hand was resting on the grip
The Second Batch
"Are we really going down there?" Chloe asked, her voice barely a whisper as she stared at the massive black container venting steam in the mud."We have to," Raka said, his eyes locked on the glowing white star stenciled on the metal lid. "That's our gear. Whatever my older self packed in there, we need it if we're going to survive the next ten minutes.""But the guards..." Dave muttered, looking back down the dark aqueduct tunnel. "What if more of them show up?""They won't," Sofia said. Her glowing blue eyes flickered as she scanned the valley floor. "At least, not the ones from the city. But Raka... there are other heat signatures down there. Near the tree line."Raka adjusted his grip on his knife. "Are they templars?""No," Sofia murmured, squinting as the digital code in her eyes spun. "The thermal outlines are wrong. They're too light. And they aren't moving in a royal guard formation.""Only one way to find out," Marcus said, stepping to the edge of the stone ledge. "I'll go
Two Sofias
Raka let go of his knife, his hand freezing mid-air. "Sofia? But... you're standing right next to me.""I'm right here," the younger Sofia whispered, her voice shaking as the blue binary code in her eyes spun faster. "Raka, my HUD... it's going completely haywire. There's a critical error flashing in red. It says 'Data Redundancy Detected'.""That's because the system knows we're both here," the older Sofia said, taking a heavy step forward. Her boots left deep, muddy prints in the wet earth. "And AetherCorp doesn't like duplicate files, kids.""This is impossible," Marcus stammered, his dull sword trembling as he looked between the two Sofias. "How are there two of you? Is this another glitch?""It's not a glitch, Marcus. It's a timeline collision," the older Sofia said, her cybernetic eye lattice spinning slowly, casting a cold blue pattern over Jace and Kael. "We don't have time to stand around and have a psychological crisis. The Board is already tracking the anomalous signature w
The Map Update
They tumbled into the pitch-black maintenance pipe, sliding on cold steel until they crashed onto the damp concrete of the lower junction. Above them, the heavy iron hatch slammed shut with a metallic groan, sealing them inside just as the deletion beam struck the valley floor. The entire structure vibrated, a deafening, low-frequency hum that rattled their teeth and made the concrete walls groan under immense pressure."Is everyone breathing?" Raka wheezed, spitting out metallic-tasting water as he pushed himself up."Barely," Marcus coughed, his voice echoing hollowly in the dark. "I think I chipped a tooth on that last slide.""I think I landed on Marcus's sword," Dave groaned from somewhere in the pile of limbs. "And his knee is directly in my kidney.""Get off me, Dave," Marcus grunted, shoving him away. "My ribs are already cracked from the slide.""Sofia?" Raka reached out into the pitch black, his fingers brushing against damp fabric. "Sofia, are you okay?""I'm here," her voi
Infiltrating the Iron Throne
Infiltrating the Iron ThroneThe air in the maintenance shaft was stagnant, smelling of ozone and stale, recycled oxygen. Raka clutched the amber disc, his knuckles white as the light flickered, painting the faces of his classmates in ghostly, rhythmic pulses."Is everyone ready?" Raka asked, his voice low but sharp enough to cut through the hum of the facility. "We’re about to step into the primary feed. If my calculations are right, the Developer’s patch is hitting the outer sectors first, which means the city’s logic loop is going to hit a massive lag."Sofia stood beside him, her blue eyes scanning the data-stream she alone could see. "The delay is starting, Raka. Look at the wall terminal. The frame rate is dropping."Indeed, the flickering blue emergency lights on the tunnel wall began to stutter. Each strobe was preceded by a jagged, stuttering pause, as if reality itself was struggling to render the next moment."A lag spike?" Marcus muttered, resting a hand on his dull sword.
The Kitchen Assassin
The monofilament blade hissed through the air, carving a white-hot trail through the steam-filled kitchen. Raka felt the sharp, ozone-tinged sting of the weapon as it grazed his collar, shearing off the fabric of his hoodie. He threw himself backward, his spine slamming into a hanging rack of copper pots that groaned and swayed under the impact."Move, you idiots! She’s not just a maid!" Raka shouted, scrambling to regain his footing as the woman—the Patch—pivoted on a dime."She’s fast!" Sofia hissed, her blue-eyed gaze tracking the woman's movements with digital precision. "Raka, look at her kinetic output! She’s pulling power directly from the room's energy grid. She’s essentially a walking conduit!"The woman didn't wait for them to recover. She kicked a heavy metal prep table, sending it hurtling toward Raka like a battering ram. Raka ducked, the table shattering against the wall behind him in a spray of stainless steel and wood, but he didn't have time to breathe. The Patch was
