CHAPTER 21
Tyler cleared his throat before answering the doctor. “I don’t mean to disrespect you,” Tyler explained calmly, keeping his eyes on Dr. Peter. “I understand that you have your own methods, and I am not trying to interfere with your work. I only want you to understand that what happened to Mr. Prescott is connected to the poison in the wine.”Dr. Peter stared at him with a displeased expression, clearly unconvinced by his explanation. Tyler, however, remained composed and continued speaking.“From the moment Mr. Prescott drank the wine, his condition changed almost immediately,” Tyler explained. “He started struggling to breathe, his body began convulsing, and he collapsed. Those symptoms are the reason I believe he has been poisoned. If you truly want to save him, I think you should do something more than simply checking his temperature.”The doctor’s expression darkened as he listened. He seemed unable to believe that someone who had not even examined Mr. Prescott was questionin
CHAPTER 22
Tyler remained quiet, allowing Dr. Peter to continue examining Mr. Prescott despite his doubts about the doctor’s approach. Dr. Peter, however, seemed determined to continue his examination without paying any attention to Tyler’s earlier concerns. He leaned over Mr. Prescott and checked his temperature again, carefully observing the reading before examining him further. After a few moments, he repeated the process a second time, apparently wanting to make sure that the result was accurate.Tyler watched him silently, his expression remaining serious. He still believed that the wine was responsible for Mr. Prescott’s condition, but he decided not to interrupt the doctor again. He had already warned the Prescott family about the danger, and they had refused to listen. For now, he wanted to see what Dr. Peter would do next. After completing his examination, Dr. Peter finally straightened his back and stood up. He adjusted his coat before turning toward Mrs. Prescott, who immediatel
CHAPTER 23
Mrs. Prescott turned toward Eva with an expression that mixed relief with anger. “Eva, did you hear what the doctor just explained?” Mrs. Prescott asked sharply, raising her voice as she pointed toward Dr. Peter. “A qualified medical professional has examined your father, and he has concluded that your father is suffering from stress and fever, not poisoning. Yet you chose to believe Tyler instead of listening to people who actually know what they are doing.”Eva looked at her mother with a troubled expression. “Mom, I heard what the doctor said,” Eva replied, trying to remain respectful despite her growing frustration. “But that doesn’t automatically mean Tyler was wrong. We still don’t know exactly what happened to Dad, and I don’t think we should dismiss his warning so quickly.”Mrs. Prescott’s face immediately tightened with irritation. She turned her head toward Tyler and looked at him with contempt before facing Eva again.“Are you actually proud of yourself for defending s
CHAPTER 24
Yet she took a deep breath and looked at her mother, determined to make her understand why she could not simply ignore Tyler’s warning. “Mom, please, I need you to listen to me for a moment,” Eva said, her voice calmer than before as she tried to control her emotions. “I’m not asking you to accept everything Tyler says just because he is the person who warned us. I’m asking you to put your feelings about him aside and consider what happened using your own judgment.”Mrs. Prescott immediately shook her head, looking increasingly impatient. “What’s there to consider, Eva?” Mrs. Prescott asked irritably. “The doctor has already examined your father and explained what he believes is wrong with him. Why are you still insisting on bringing up this ridiculous accusation about poisoned wine?”Eva swallowed nervously before answering. “Because Dad was perfectly fine before he drank the wine,” Eva explained, looking directly at her mother. “He was sitting at the table, talking to us norma
CHAPTER 25
Eva refused to remain silent as she continued, “doctor, please, I think you need to investigate the possibility that my father was poisoned instead of assuming that this is only a fever,” Eva insisted, her voice filled with concern. She glanced at her father, who was still lying on the floor, before turning her attention back to the doctor. “He was perfectly fine before drinking that wine, but immediately after taking a sip, his condition changed. Don’t you think that is something you should consider?”Mrs. Prescott immediately turned toward her daughter, her face tightening with anger. “Eva, will you shut up!” Mrs. Prescott snapped, raising her voice as she glared at her daughter. “How many times must I tell you to stop interfering? Dr. Peter is a qualified doctor, and he knows what he is doing. If you cannot offer anything useful, then keep your mouth shut and let him work!”Mrs. Prescott then forced herself to look away from Eva and turned toward Dr. Peter. The anger on her fa
CHAPTER 26
When Georgina returned with an ice cube, Mrs. Prescott immediately turned toward her and stretched out her hand to collect it. “Here, Doctor. I have the ice cube you requested,” Mrs. Prescott said anxiously as she approached Dr. Peter and handed it to him. Her eyes searched his face for any sign that he was about to begin a treatment that would save her husband’s life. “Please, do whatever you can to help him. I want him to recover as quickly as possible.”Dr. Peter accepted the ice cube, but before Mrs. Prescott could do anything else, he raised his free hand to stop her from moving closer. He wanted to complete the next stage of his treatment before using the ice cube, and he did not want anyone interfering with his work. With a serious expression, he turned toward his medical equipment and began preparing the medication he intended to administer.“Please, give me a moment, Mrs. Prescott,” Dr. Peter said calmly, gesturing for her to step back slightly. “I want to administer som
CHAPTER 27
Mr. Prescott’s condition suddenly worsened while Dr. Peter was still using the ice cube to cool his body. His arms and legs began shaking violently, and the movements became so intense that the sounds coming from his joints made everyone fear that his bones might be breaking. The unexpected development left the people around him completely terrified, especially Mrs. Prescott, who had believed that the doctor’s treatment would help her husband recover.“Ah! What is happening to my husband?” Mrs. Prescott screamed, rushing closer to Mr. Prescott as she watched his body shake uncontrollably. Her eyes widened in horror, and she stretched out her hands as though she wanted to help him but did not know what to do. “Doctor, what is wrong with him? Why is he shaking like this? You gave him medication, and you were using the ice cube to cool his body. Why is his condition getting worse instead of better?”Dr. Peter froze for a moment, staring at Mr. Prescott in disbelief. He had expected
CHAPTER 28
However, before Dr Peter could proceed, Eva quickly turned toward her mother and said."Mother, wait!" She exclaimed, raising her voice as she leaned forward in her wheelchair. Her expression was filled with worry as she looked from Mrs. Prescott to Dr. Peter. "Why are we allowing him to give Father more medication when his condition has become worse after the first dosage? Shouldn't we first find out why he reacted that way before giving him anything else?"Mrs. Prescott immediately turned toward her daughter, irritation spreading across her face. "Eva, what exactly do you think you are saying?" Mrs. Prescott demanded, glaring at her daughter. Her voice was sharp as she gestured toward Dr. Peter, who was still preparing the medication. "Are you a doctor? Do you have any medical training that qualifies you to question his decisions? Dr. Peter is the medical professional here, not you. If he believes another dosage might help your father, then we should trust his judgment instead o
CHAPTER 29
"Tyler, what are you doing?" Eva asked anxiously, her voice trembling as she stared at him. She leaned forward in her wheelchair, trying to understand what he intended to do. "Are you seriously thinking about interfering with the doctor's treatment? Can't you see how serious Father's condition is? What if you do something that makes everything worse?"Tyler turned toward her and met her frightened gaze. Unlike everyone else in the room, he appeared completely calm, and there was no sign of hesitation on his face. He understood why Eva was worried, but he knew that allowing Dr. Peter to continue treating the wrong problem would only put Mr. Prescott's life in greater danger."Eva, I am going to save your father,"he replied calmly, his eyes briefly moving toward Mr. Prescott before returning to her. His voice was steady and firm, showing that he had already made up his mind. "I warned everyone that the wine was poisoned, but nobody was willing to listen. Now his condition is getting
CHAPTER 30
Ignoring Mrs. Prescott's cries, Tyler immediately turned Mr. Prescott onto his side. Mrs. Prescott watched Tyler's actions in horror before rushing toward him from behind. She grabbed at his arm, desperately trying to pull him away from her husband. Her face was filled with fear and anger, and she could hardly control her trembling as she demanded, "Tyler, what do you think you're doing to my husband?" she screamed, tightening her grip on his arm. "Have you completely lost your mind? How dare you touch him like that when he's already fighting for his life? Let him go immediately!"Tyler slowly turned his head toward her. "Didn't your doctor just declare that your husband was beyond saving?" Tyler asked calmly, raising his eyebrows slightly as he reminded her of Dr. Peter's earlier statement. "He said there was nothing anyone could do to change the outcome, didn't he? Since he has already given up on your husband, you should step back and watch what this so-called madman can do."
