Chapter 1: Failed Summoning
That fateful night… Mike clearly remembered standing in a narrow, filthy alley, his white lab coat stained a deep, vivid red. Blood—some of it his victims', most of it his own—flowed steadily into the drainage grate at the end of the street. Bodies lay scattered around him like broken dolls. Mike stood there, scarcely out of breath, his chest rising slowly as more men marched into the alley with guns drawn and torches held high. The flickering torchlight illuminated the gruesome scene, landing squarely on him. The leader of the group stepped forward, his voice rough with barely contained rage. "Looks like you pissed off a lot of people, Doc." Mike looked at the man calmly. "Remind me—which organisation do you work for again?" The leader's jaw tightened, anger flashing at being so easily forgotten. "You forgot me already? But you can't forget what you did. You put a lizard's heart inside our boss!" Mike put on a thoughtful expression, running a bloody hand through his hair a
Chapter 2: The Hollow
“Darkness.” “Where am I?” Light slowly returned to Boros’s vision, but it revealed nothing useful. Thick black fog pressed against him, heavy and cold, thick with a smell he knew all too well—the iron stench of fresh blood and scorched stone. “What is this fog?” Then voices drifted through the mist—harsh, guttural syllables rising and falling in eerie unison, completely alien to anything stored in his memory. ¡Kthul farrak zorn! ¡Veyra thul’nak sor! ¡Athiel keth’voss! He could not understand a single word. “What’s that sound? From the way it’s spoken, whatever is making that sound is intelligent.” “It seems I really am in another world.” The footsteps grew louder, vibrating through the stone and into his unstable form. From outside the fog, four voices rose in perfect unison. “Disperse.” A sudden gust tore through the chamber. The black mist shredded apart and vanished. Standing in the absolute center of the magic circle was a slender, inhumanly tall figure. Its frame
Chapter 4: First Mutation
Boros remained suspended in the dark solvent, utterly still, yet his awareness sharpened with predatory focus. Through the thick glass, he watched Alistair restrain the small Surong on the stone slab and feed it a fragment of his own severed flesh. The creature wasted no time. It snatched the piece and devoured it with frantic hunger.*I honestly thought it would refuse to eat it. This body was created through unorthodox methods, after all. But it consumed the flesh so eagerly… that raises far too many questions.*The Surong’s entire body suddenly spasmed. If one looked closely, faint dark lines could be seen rippling beneath its fur as Boros’s cells spread like a living plague through muscle and vein. The convulsions lasted only seconds before the creature went limp and collapsed onto the table. It lay still.…Then—a twitch.Boros knew it was not dead.*How curious.*He closed off his vision and extended his s
Chapter 3: Biomancer
The Overseer wasted no time once the High Priest had left the chamber. He turned sharply to four of the remaining mages, his voice clipped and cold.“You four. Take the containment vessel to the High Priest’s laboratory. Be extra careful if you value your lives.”“Yes, sir,” they answered in unison. They cast Levitate without hesitation. The heavy cylindrical tank rose smoothly from the blood-stained floor and floated between them as they hurried out of the ritual chamber. The corridors they traversed were narrow and torch-lit, the stone walls slick with condensation and old blood. One of the mages broke the tense silence.“What do you think the High Priest will be able to achieve with this summoned creature?”The mage beside him snapped immediately.“Stop talking nonsense. The Head Priest will obviously conduct research on it and share his great discoveries with all members.”The first mage lowered his hea
Chapter 5: Trials of Flesh
The next day, in a large, mostly empty chamber lit by harsh torchlight, six violet-robed initiates stood clustered near the center. A row of heavy torturer’s chairs waited in grim silence, their leather straps and metal restraints gleaming dully under the flickering flames. One figure spoke in a hushed, eager tone.“Did you hear? The Overseer said if we are compatible with the drugs the High Priest made, we could gain immortality.”Another answered quickly, voice edged with excitement.“He told me we would grow far stronger than we are now and could even become mages.”A third figure added shyly, almost embarrassed.“Well… he told me I could increase my size.”All eyes turned to him at once. Faces twisted into expressions of pure disbelief, the air thickening with awkward silence. The third figure slowly backed away, shrinking under the collective stare as if the stone floor might swallow him whole. The tense moment shattered as the far door creaked open.Alistair von Vaneford entered
Chapter 6: The Hollow's Counterattack
Alistair scanned the room, his gaze darting from face to face. Most of his attention lingered on Stone—the old man still held his rapier with the same deadly precision he had always shown. He was well into his eighties, his head bald across the top but framed by a ring of thinning grey hair. A short beard covered his jaw, but there was no moustache beneath his nose. Despite his age, his lean, wiry frame remained steady beneath his robes, every movement controlled and deliberate. When he turned to look at the young man who had hurled the fireball moments earlier, something was already wrong. The initiate stood perfectly still. Blood began to pour from every orifice—eyes, nose, mouth, ears—streaming down his face in thick, steady rivulets. His body swayed once. His knees buckled. He collapsed forward and hit the stone floor face-first with a wet, final thud. The other controlled cultists paid their fallen comrade no mind whatsoever.Alistair’s voice was cold and clinical.“Casting a fir
Chapter 7: Glyphweaver
“Bind the space before me,Strangle all motion.Let the world fall still.Stagnation.”Nothing.Alistair completed the final, harsh syllable of his chant, one hand clamped tightly against the bleeding gash on his stomach. Blood leaked continuously through the shredded purple fabric of his robes, warm and slick against his palm, but he forced his footing to remain absolute as he took out a vial and downed the healing potion in haste. He stomped his heel into the center of the stone tile beneath him.The atmosphere within the chamber changed in an instant. The physical space itself grew impossibly thick, dense, and sluggish, turning the atmosphere into something resembling liquid iron. It did not stop time; instead, everything came almost to a halt. The charging hulking muscle-mutant, mid-leap with its grotesque fists raised, froze in place—its forward momentum dragged down to an agonizingly slow creep. Beside it, the spear-limbed initiate stiffened, its elongated bone blades locked mid
Chapter 8: Dominion Established
"Center of all, Draw the world to thy heart. Let the many become none. Collapsing void.”Alistair completed the harsh, desperate syllables of the chant, sweat mixing with blood as it poured down his face. Cold, biting panic clutched at his chest as he felt the utter silence of his ruined utility networks. The instant-casting floor runes were gone, his spell acceleration was dead, and the female acolyte in the rear was already gathering fire while the aura-wielding swordsmen closed the distance. He was being pushed into a corner, stripped of his advantage.*No... I won't die here to these meat puppets!*His fingers gripped the few remaining chant-shortening charms hidden in his inner robes. He knew Stone was still down in the lower corridors, ruining his major arrays. A desperate, dark sneer formed on his lips as he muttered through clenched, blood-stained teeth:“I’ll drag you back here with my teleportation array... I’ll pull your broken body right into the core of the collaps
Chapter 9:
A New Form
After shutting the door behind him, Boros walked up to the front of his captive. He stretched his hands across the room, lifted a chair, brought it in front of her, and set it down backward before sitting. He looked into the eyes of his captive, then lowered the gag tied around her mouth down to her neck. “Let’s start simple. What’s your name?” The black-haired woman refused to respond. Boros tilted his hollow face. “This is you.” He stretched out his hand and morphed his fingers, shaping them into a perfect miniature female model. “My cells are distributed all over your body. This is you.” He paused, letting her stare at the tiny figure. “If you don’t answer my questions…” The model exploded and melted away in his palm. He reshaped his hand back to normal. “Now do you understand?” The female cultist sneered. “Go ahead and blow me apart.” Boros slapped his own face. “I’m no good at interrogating women I want to bed.” *What to do,* Boros thought. *I can’t safely read the me
Chapter 10: Name and Ecstasy
Boros stood there for a moment, posing in his new body while looking down at the face of his shocked captive. *That was reckless,* he thought. *From now on, I should practice any new skill on something other than myself. Ouroboric Transmutation… what a decision. Breaking down matter and reconstructing it. It has plenty of room for further testing.* The female cultist on the bed murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, “What are you?” Boros ignored her. He stepped forward, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her up toward him with effortless strength. Catching her by the waist, he dropped onto the edge of the bed, pinning her in place. He began his interrogation without hesitation. His grip tightened around her, his heavy authority overwhelming her resistance as she shivered under his cold, calculated stare. Leaning in close, his lips brushed past her ear, his breath hot against her skin as he exerted his dominance. She jolted in surprise, trying to pull back from his overwhelmi
