Chapter 4: Crashing the Sovereign Imperial Club
last update2026-10-09 19:18:35

The heavy iron gates of the Sovereign Imperial Club towered over the rain-slicked pavement. Neon red and purple lights flickered across the marble entrance, casting a sinister glow over the dozen armed guards standing outside in tactical vests.

A matte-black armored SUV pulled up directly in front of the main archway, its engine rumbling like a sleeping beast.

The lead guard, a hulking man with a scarred face, stepped forward and tapped his heavy silver torch against the driver's side window. "Private club! Move this truck along before I blow your tires off!"

The rear door opened slowly.

I stepped out into the pouring rain, my dark leather jacket instantly soaking up the cold water. Scarlett stepped out right behind me, carrying a sleek metal briefcase.

The scarred guard sneered, resting his hand on his holstered pistol. "Look at this kid. You lost, little boy? This isn't a playground."

I didn't utter a single word. I simply stepped forward.

The guard reached out to grab my shoulder, but before his fingers could touch my jacket, my hand whipped out like a striking viper. I grabbed his wrist, twisted it inward, and slammed him face-first into the hood of the nearest sports car.

CRACK!

The windshield shattered beneath his face. He collapsed onto the pavement, unconscious before he even hit the ground.

"INTRUDERS!" another guard screamed, drawing his weapon.

Before any of the remaining eleven guards could raise their rifles, Scarlett was already moving. She blurred through the rain like a phantom.

BANG! THUD! CRACK!

In less than three seconds, eleven men were lying on the wet concrete, groaning in pain with broken limbs. Their weapons lay scattered in the puddles.

I walked past them without stopping, pushing open the heavy oak double doors of the club.

Inside, the grand hall was filled with booming electronic music and hundreds of wealthy elites dancing, drinking, and laughing under laser lights. They had no idea that the front entrance had just been breached.

We walked straight toward the VIP elevator at the back of the room. Two massive martial artists guarding the gold elevator doors stepped into our path, drawing silver combat knives.

"Nobody goes to the underground level without Master Darkwood's permission," the larger one growled.

I didn't slow my pace. I raised my right hand, formed a simple fist, and threw a straight punch.

An invisible wave of compressed air erupted from my knuckle.

BOOM!

The force blasted both martial artists off their feet. They crashed through the golden elevator doors, crumpling into the dark shaft behind them.

I caught the edge of the elevator cable, pulled Scarlett in beside me, and jumped straight down into the darkness of the third sub-basement.

THUD!

We landed softly on the concrete floor thirty feet below.

The basement smelled of damp iron and cold sweat. Rows of heavy iron cages lined the dimly lit hallway.

At the end of the corridor stood a tall, thin man in a crimson silk robe, holding a glass of dark red wine. His face was pale, and a long, jagged scar ran from his ear down to his throat.

It was Dominic Darkwood—the leader of the Darkwood Syndicate.

Beside him, two heavy iron guards stood next to a suspended steel cage. Inside the cage sat a small, trembling young girl with messy dark hair, clutching a small silver locket around her neck.

"Lily!" I called out, my heart dropping.

The girl lifted her head weakly, her pale, bruised face lighting up with wide, tear-filled eyes. "E-Ethan...? Ethan! You came!"

Dominic Darkwood let out a cold, raspy laugh, taking a slow sip of his wine. "So... the broke house-husband finally made it to the Capital. I must admit, Ethan Rhys, your entry was quite loud."

"Let her go, Dominic," I said, my voice dropping into a deadly whisper. "Right now."

Dominic chuckled, waving his wine glass dismissively. "Let her go? Do you know how much your sister is worth on the Capital's black market? Lord Sterling paid me twenty million just to keep her locked in this cage!"

He snapped his fingers. Twenty dark-robed assassins dropped from the ceiling rafters, their silver daggers gleaming with green poison.

"Kill him," Dominic ordered calmly. "Bring me his head."

The twenty assassins lunged forward all at once, creating a wall of flashing steel blades.

I took a deep breath, stepped forward with my left foot, and unleashed the full power of the Sovereign Bloodline.

BOOM!

A golden aura of internal energy erupted from my body like a violent shockwave. The stone floor shattered under my boots, sending a shower of concrete fragments flying in every direction.

All twenty assassins were blasted backward before their blades could touch me. Their bodies slammed hard against the stone walls, dropping instantly to the floor, unconscious and bleeding.

Dominic’s wine glass slipped from his numb fingers, shattering on the floor. His face turned paper-white.

"I-Impossible..." Dominic stammered, backing away until his spine hit the iron cage. "That... that's the Sovereign Imperial Force! You... you're not just a house-husband... You're the Sovereign Lord?!"

I closed the distance in a fraction of a second, grabbing Dominic by his throat and lifting his six-foot frame high into the air.

"Where is Lord Sterling?" I growled, my fingers tightening around his neck.

"He's... he's at the Sterling Manor!" Dominic choked out, his eyes bulging in pure terror. "Please... spare my life! I was just following orders!"

I looked into his eyes, cold and merciless. "You held my sister for four years. There is no mercy for you."

I snapped my wrist.

CRACK.

Dominic’s limp body fell to the floor like a sack of stones.

I rushed over to the cage, grabbed the heavy iron lock, and pulled with my bare hands. The thick steel lock snapped in half like dry wood.

I opened the iron door and gathered Lily into my arms, wrapping my leather jacket around her shivering shoulders.

"Ethan..." Lily sobbed, burying her face into my chest, her small hands clutching my shirt tightly. "I knew you would come for me... I knew it..."

"I'm here, Lily," I whispered, stroking her messy hair softly as tears filled my own eyes. "Nobody will ever hurt you again. The Rhys family is taking back everything they stole from us."

Scarlett stepped up beside us, holding her tablet as a red alarm began blaring throughout the underground facility.

"Young Master," Scarlett reported urgently. "Lord Sterling has just received word of Dominic's death. He has mobilized the entire Sterling Clan private army at his estate."

I lifted Lily into my arms, holding her securely as I turned toward the elevator shaft.

"Tell Duke Vance to bring the heavy artillery," I commanded, my eyes glowing with pure, unyielding fury. "Tonight, the Sterling Clan falls."
