The Azure Sect was not a place for the weak. It had never been. But lately, Kai felt its walls close in tighter than ever.

It began subtly. Food slips started vanishing from his pouch and his spirit stones got misplaced. The training yard gates were locked when he arrived. Then came the stares, the whispers that carried too loudly to be accidents.

“Trash shouldn’t waste space in the cultivation halls.”

“He’s clinging to a girl now, pathetic.”

Kai ignored it outwardly. His expression was calm, as though the petty jabs didn’t pierce him. But inside of him, he wasn't happy. He didn’t need to guess who orchestrated this. Zhao was too careful to dirty his own hands, but his influence spread like poison through the sect’s veins.

And Li Shen’s arrogance only added fuel to it.

One evening, Kai entered the training pavilion to find the spirit well. Normally a glowing pillar of energy already drained dry. His ration slot had been marked used.
