Lucien’s words were like poidon

Adrian’s fingers tightened around his throat, the pressure enough to crush bone... Yet Lucien only smiled wider, enjoying every second of Adrian’s rage.

Adrian didn’t move.

Lucien leaned closer, voice dropping to a cruel whisper.

“A mystical herb possessed only by the Dragon Clan.”

Adrian’s jaw tightened but he stayed silent.

Lucien chuckled. “But we both know the Dragon Clan went extinct centuries ago,” he said softly. “So your options are very simple.”

Then they fell.Adrian looked down at her arm.Her veins were branching across her skin like black lightning. They were dying. All of them. And he had no cure.Adrian's face hardened drew a sterile needle from his coat, found Sophia’s vein, and drew blood. The contaminated blood swirled into the glass vial like ink in water.Adrian stared at it.This… this thing Lucien put in her… it wasn’t a poison. It was torture disguised as science.Adrian slowly rose to his feet. His energy shifted—no longer bright,

Adrian froze. His palms hovered above her, trembling. The energy he’d pushed into her…The virus was consuming it.Feeding on it and growing stronger.“No…” Adrian whispered. “No, no, no…”Sophia convulsed again, screaming as her body fought against something unseen and monstrous.Adrian tried to steady her shoulders, but she writhed uncontrollably.Gerald forced himself upright. “Adrian... what’s happening to my daughter?!”Adrian’s voice dropped to a whisper he could barely speak.“This virus… it adapts.”He touched the dark veins on Sophia’s arm.His hand shook.“This is Chimera-X,” he said finally. The doctor stiffened. “That’s impossible… Chimera-X is a myth...”“It’s real,” Adrian said, his voice breaking. “And Lucien used it on them.”He stood slowly, as if rising under a mountain of rage. His face had changed. The doctor swallowed hard. “How long do they have?”The moment stretched.Adrian looked at Sophia's trembling body.At the blackened veins creeping toward her heart. The

They flew backward, crashing into walls, tables, and crates.Lucien was already running.Outside, the roar of helicopter blades cut through the air.Zane stepped toward the exit but stopped. His lip curled in disgust as he watched Lucien’s helicopter lift off, rising into the morning sky.“Coward,” he muttered. He turned back to the Aldridge family who were his primary assignment.Sophia’s chest shook as she breathed.
