Dr. Max burst into an amusing laughter.

"Zane, what are you talking about?" He said, "this is a hospital. Not a casino where you can gamble with people's life. The only thing you're good at is gambling, dude."

"You're the one joking around, Max." Zane said firmly. "That man is going to die in the next ten minutes from a parasite eating up his heart and causing him a heart disease. You can't save him before that time but I can help you."

Dr. Max's smile wavered slightly. He hasn't seen Zane this serious with any other conversation that wasn't gambling. But he still thought he was only pushing it this time after he strictly told him he'll never lend him any money again.

Ms. Hedge, the young beautiful heiress of the hedge family walked over to them with her tear streaked face. Two huge bodyguards flanked behind his back.

"Can he save my father? Then let him do it!" She snapped, her voice trembling with desperation.

"Ms. Hedge... he's not one of our doctors..he's just a friend of mine. He doesn't even have any medical qualifications. He major in economics while we were in college. It's unrelated to medicine."

Zane scoffed, shaking his head and muttering. "Mortals are blind."

Then he stared at the woman who had began to look at him suspiciously.

"Tell me if you haven't taken him to five hospitals in this city and yet they kept telling you he's fine. He'll recover. But he's dying. Quietly. If you don't do anything right now then I'll advise you to get a coffin ready."

"Zane...are you crazy?" Dr. Max gasped. "You're speaking to the Heiress of the Hedge family like that."

Ms. Hedge who was in shock. She wasn't angry. People who made provocative statement less severe than what this man just said would have been dead by now. But instead, her Interest piqued.

"He's right." She said, her voice still carrying shock. "But how did you know?"

"I'm just intuitive." He simply said.

"Ms. Hedge.." Dr. Max wanted to interfere again but a simple hand raised by the heiress shut him up.

She closed the gap with Zane, her heels clicking sharply against the marble. Her expression hardening, almost dangerous. Zane didn't even Blink.

"If I give you the chance to treat my father and you fail. I swear I'll kill you."

Zane scoffed, slightly amused.

"I'm the one helping you yet you're talking about giving me a chance." He said and shook his head. "humans with their empty entitlement to command a room they couldn't even handle. I'll help you because I can't watch him die when it's not yet his time."

He said, leaving everyone stunned with a statement that cut the heiress's pride. The bodyguard guards exchanged stunned glances, expecting the heiress to flare or give a command to bring this man down. But in contrast to that, the heiress of the Hedge family who would shoot anyone that speaks to her crudely didn't find his statement offensive.

"Take me to his ward, Max." He said, his voice sharp and commanding.

Tara tugged his sleeve. Her expression carried concern.

"Are you sure this won't cause you any trouble, Zane?" She stammered, her voice panicking.

Zane smiled at her softly. "Trust me, Tara." He simply said.

Tara nodded, smiling back gently. "I'll wait at the lobby. The smell of chemicals turns my stomach."

"I'll be back with you quickly."

"I'll be waiting."

With that, Zane turned and walked towards the emergency room, led by Dr. Max with Ms. Hedge and his bodyguard flanked behind them.

It wasn't up to ten minutes when Tara settled down at the lobby when her phone rang.

It was a call from her step-sister. Dora.

"Help me..Tara..help me.."

She called, her voice quiet, the voice of a mother who was about to give late night advice to her beloved daughter. Her voice carried understanding. "I understand your anger. You feel neglected. Your brother had made mistakes in the past, but that's what makes him a human. That is what human beings do. We all make mistakes, pick irrational decisions and regret it later. But that doesn't stop him from being your blood."The words hit something inside of Agatha but she didn't soften yet.Mrs. The Coker held her hand, squeezing it gently. Everyone settled behind the wooden dining table. Zane and Tara juxtaposed, Agatha sat across from them with Rose beside her while Mrs. cooker sat at the head of the table. The air smell with the Aroma of Chicken and mushroom pasta prepared by Agatha and the sound of cutleries clicking against ceramic plates filled the room."I hope you'll enjoy the meal." Mrs. Cooker said, glancing over at Zane and Tara. "This is the best meal we currently have at home. The village is facing a lot these days. Insecurity and taxmen collecting our little penny is hindering us to get provisions from the main city. Most of the time, we pay them with our agricultural products when we don't have any money."Zane paused his meal, setting the fork against the plate with a faint sharp click. "Taxmen disturb you people here too, despite how local this place is?" He raised a brow. "You people are struggling here, they shouldn't make life harder for you more." He picked the fork and continued to eat. "But th
