"What about the $20 million investment from the Hedge family to Sterlings corporation?"
Dora asked, turning to face him with the slight from still on her face. "That is simple, Dora." He broke the hug, his shoulder raised with confidence. Too sure of himself. "The Blackthorn family has been partnering with the Hedge family for a long time. They promised the investment already. When it's the right time, you'll sign." Dora's frown loosened, her expression taking a bright excitement. Her finger traced map on Jackson's chest. "That is why you are the best, Jackson." She said, her voice softened at the edge, almost romantic. "You always have your way around things with your family connection and influence." Jackson drank in the appraisal with a wide grin. He turned to his men. "You all should secure all the door. I'm going to be busy for a while." "Yes sir." The chorused and bowed, straightened up and walked out of the room. The door clicked shut. Jackson engaged the lock and turned back to the room, standing beside Dora with a cruel grin on his lips while Dora had a disgusting expression twisting her face like even in her unconsciousness, she was a sand in her soup. "So, what do you plan for her?" She asked. "We'll send a video to Zane," He said, still smirking cruelly. "I'd like to see him throw his little fist to save her wife." He walked to the nightstand beside the bed. A silver tray with vials containing chemicals was already prepared for Jackson's plan. He took one of the bottle and grinned wickedly. "This is going to be interesting, sweetheart." He filled up a syringe with all the Vial content and sat on Tara's unconscious body, pressing the syringe into her neck and emptying the contents into her body. "Are you killing her with that?" Dora's voice carried no humour. Not even pity or guilt. "This is an Aphrodisiac." Jackson waved the now empty syringe. "She's not going to die, she'll be under intense heat and acting crazy." "You gave her all the dose?" Jackson grinned wider, pulling her hair back. "It'll make it work faster. Zane will see his sweet stammering woman yearning for another man's rod. Interesting, Huh?"" He threw his head back and burst into a sickening laughter that bounced off the way. Meaningwhile at life priority hospital, Zane, Dr. Max and the heiress walked into the sterile room. The old man was already laid on another bed, pipes connected to his body and sorrounded by beeping machines and heart monitors. Yet, his chest moved up and down, too slow. Like his life was just at the tip of fading off. Zane saw the parasite eating up his heart with his divine eyes. He simply pressed his hand down on the man's chest. Invisible energy flowed from his palm into the man's chest. The people behind him stared at him in confusion as though he was crazy. Suddenly the door of the room burst open. A matured man wearing a white lab cloth strode into the room, his loafers cutting sharp sound through the room. A stethoscope snaked around his neck. Dr. Henderson the Hospital Director. A deep frown tightened his brow immediately he saw what was going on the room. "What the heck is going on here? Who the heck is this man?!"Latest Chapter
Chapter 77: The reunion
Mrs. Coker knocked the door gently, once, and she pushed it, stepping into the room quietly.Agatha sat at the edge of the bed, doing nothing, her expression hardened, arms crossed on her lap.Mrs. Cooker stared at her silently without moving for about two seconds before she walked over and sat closely beside her."Agatha." She called, her voice quiet, the voice of a mother who was about to give late night advice to her beloved daughter. Her voice carried understanding. "I understand your anger. You feel neglected. Your brother had made mistakes in the past, but that's what makes him a human. That is what human beings do. We all make mistakes, pick irrational decisions and regret it later. But that doesn't stop him from being your blood."The words hit something inside of Agatha but she didn't soften yet.Mrs. The Coker held her hand, squeezing it gently. "Listen, most people won't even see their wrong as wrong. But he realized it and came back to make this right. Please, don't kick h
Chapter 76: Over the meal
Everyone settled behind the wooden dining table. Zane and Tara juxtaposed, Agatha sat across from them with Rose beside her while Mrs. cooker sat at the head of the table. The air smell with the Aroma of Chicken and mushroom pasta prepared by Agatha and the sound of cutleries clicking against ceramic plates filled the room."I hope you'll enjoy the meal." Mrs. Cooker said, glancing over at Zane and Tara. "This is the best meal we currently have at home. The village is facing a lot these days. Insecurity and taxmen collecting our little penny is hindering us to get provisions from the main city. Most of the time, we pay them with our agricultural products when we don't have any money."Zane paused his meal, setting the fork against the plate with a faint sharp click. "Taxmen disturb you people here too, despite how local this place is?" He raised a brow. "You people are struggling here, they shouldn't make life harder for you more." He picked the fork and continued to eat. "But th
Chapter 75: Rose is back home
"If you drop that hand on her, " A deep commanding voice came from the back, "I swear it will be the last time you ever use it." Andrew's hand froze in the air. He turned around, standing there, a tall, broad-chested figure loomed over him, his expression carved from steel.Zane Mercer.Flanked at both sides were Tara and Rose."Who the heck are you riffraff!!" Andrew spat, struggling to break free from the iron grip. "Get your hands off me you damn village security!!" Zane held his gaze without blinking."You dare raise your hand at an old woman." He said, voice laced with disappointment. "You're disrespectful. Go on your knee now and beg!" Andrew burst out laughing now. He earlier didn't recognize Zane, his ex brother-in-law."So, it is you, Zane, the most useless dude in the community. Where the hell did you crawl out from you pathetic scumbag. Get your dirty hand off me!"Zane's expression remained cold indifferent. "I said...Knee.""Are you crazy?!" Andrew squealed, trying to
Chapter 74: The Land Waiver agreement
Agatha looked into the paper in her hand in confusion. The heading stared back at her in bold ink. LAND WAIVER AGREEMENT.He raised her head and looked back at Andrew, her ex-husband and Rose's father. Her brow tightened slightly in confusion."Land waiver agreement... Andrew I don't understand?""Cut the crap, Agatha!" Andrew cut her off rudely, spit flying from his alcohol polluted mouth. "The land at Raven ground. Sign it if you want me to help you with Rose's case. Without your signature, I'm not involved." Agatha's Brow knitted in surprise, her voice almost a whisper. "Andrew, Rose is our daughter. We both gave birth to her. How can you say something like this?" She berated quietly, her voice breaking slightly with emotions. "That land is the only inheritance left by my mum. Her grave is on that land. How can you make a materialistic attachment to saving your daughter? Our daughter?" Andrew scoffed, unmoved by the breaking woman. "From the moment you kicked me out of the marri
Chapter 72: Agatha and Andrew
Tara walked up to Zane slowly and reached out for the collar of his new shirt. The collar jutted up wrongly."You will be seeing your sister today after a long time," She said gently while adjusting his collar properly, folding down the flap. "You should look your best."A gentle smile formed on Zane's lips. He nodded gently."You're right." He said quietly, "It has been a while. I haven't checked on her for a long time yet indirectly, I brought trouble into their peaceful life. I'll make it up to them."Tara nodded her head gently, a genuine smile lingering over her face."I know you will." Tara said, trusting his words. Then a thought suddenly struck her mind. "Then I'll suggest you get her some gifts since it has been a while since you've last seen her.""You're right." Zane nodded at the suggestion. He held Tara's hand gently, his expression carrying a genuine smile. "Without you, what could I have done?" He teased and Tara's cheek flushed shyly. Zane also purchased some clothes
Chapter 72: The debate proposal
"What proposal do you talk about?" Zane asked.Mr. Fred Caldwell cleared his throat. "It is an international debate. Your cousin looks bright for the task and her talent will be useful in this aspect. This debate comes with a lot of opportunities like scholarships, exposure and funds. All the expenses required for the debate will be handled by the school." Hearing all that, Rose's expression brightened. Tara smiled along with her. Zane didn't need to ask her any questions before he realized that she's interested in the discussion."So, she'll have to quit her former school and join your school?" He raised a brow.Mr. Fred Caldwell nodded his head gently. "Yeah. I'll make arrangements for her stay at Westbridge before the period. That is if she passes the school audition, and also she'd be given a scholarship to continue studying at Westbridge Elite academy pending the time of the international debate." Zane looked down at Rose. Her excitement was palpable, plastered all over her
