Chapter 10: Challenge accepted

"What is going on in this room?"

Ms. Hedge turned to the doctor. "I gave the authorization, Dr. Henderson."

"Ms. Hedge, you're here.." A smile crossed his face seeing her. He had always liked and wanted to get closer to the Heiress and he was looking every means to get her approval. This was another chance and he was glad he came in before it was too late. His voice dropped to a softer edge, crossing the polite border to a romantic dip. "You shouldn't have here all by yourself, Ms. Hedge. You could have simply give a call and we'll come over to your aid. I am always here to help you. What is the situation?"

He pushed towards the bed and shoved Zane to the side.

"You're going to kill him! Why place your hand on a dying patient chest? This is crude!" He hissed, his voice carrying across the room with command.

"Dr. Henderson you don't just walk into a room and stop a treatment I authorized."

He turned and a sharp laughter escaped his lips. "Authorized? For him?" He waved at Zane at the side like he was something insignificant on the bottom of his shoe. He stared at him intently, rating him zero with just glance. "This man doesn't look like someone with any medical qualifications. Dr. Max were you the one who allowed them bring into my ward a scammer?"

Dr. Max's heart dropped.

"Dr. Henderson..I tried to talk Ms.." He stuttered.

Zane exhaled sharply, annoyance flickering in his eyes.

"Who the heck is this old man with no proper training?"

Dr. Max gasped in shock. Dr. Henderson is the medical director in the hospital and he can just fire him with one single word if knew he knew Zane was his friend.

Dr. Henderson's head snapped to Zane. Anger flashed through his eyes. He won't take it for anyone speak to him disrespectfully when Ms. Hedge is present.

"Are you talking back at me right now?" He closed the gap one step with Zane. The tension built up between them. "Do you have an idea who you are speaking to? You walk in here after twisting lies to force Ms. Hedge into believing you. You are an unwanted piece of shit in this room."

Zane had the urge to teach this man a lesson but he didn't want to reveal his power in the room. That will bring him unwanted attention.

Ms. Hedge took stood between the men, facing Dr. Henderson with an angry glare. Seeing the woman he was interested in standing like a wall of defense before Zane evoked jealousy and flared his anger even more.

"Ms. Hedge, this man is obviously a scam." His voice rose to an octave, dripping with jealousy and anger he could barely contain. "He's using your desperation to convince you to believe he could heal your father. If anything should go wrong with your father, I won't be responsible for it. And neither with this hospital be." He stated. He spun to Dr. Max and sneered. "And as for you, I'll get make your job ends here today!"

Dr. Max trembled, panicking under the threat and blaming himself for bringing Zane into the ward.

"I took the decision to try something different because five different experts in different hospitals couldn't treat my father." Ms. Hedge defended, anger laced in her voice. "Step away and let him do his job!"

Dr. Henderson's grin faltered slightly but he reinforced back the next second. His expression hardened.

"If he fails to prove himself, he'll knee right before my feet and lick my boot clean."

"And if I prove you wrong?" Zane raised a brow.

"I'll fall at your feet and lick your boot and I'll also resign from my job."

He said confidently, smirking imperceptibly. He had received calls from Superior doctors from the hospital the old man was taken to before they brought him to Life Priority hospital. None of those experts with not less than 20 years experience could treat him. Zane, a simple man with apparently no medical background couldn't even rival with these men.

He was confident Zane was just bluffing and wanted to Scam Ms. Hedge. The best punishment was humiliating him before Ms. Hedge to make him pay for the insult.

"Challenge accepted."
