Aiden's Heroic Comeback

Chapter 1

Aiden took one more glance at the man who sat in the backseat through the rearview mirror of his car.

He seemed wealthy, like one who owned a Fintech or biotech company. He had a three-piece crisply ironed suit on, and Aiden thought that a review from him would help.

He needed every single cash he could get to pay his rent and university tuition. A five-star rating could give him extra bucks, and he was determined to get it from all his customers.

"I would love it if you could drop a five-star rating for me sir," Aiden said with an enthusiastic smile as his eyes went from the rearview mirror to the road before him.

Jason, who all along stuck to going through his phone, finally took a glance at the rearview mirror locking eyes with Aiden projecting a dead stare, but then he looked away without a word.

Aiden was disappointed, but he was not discouraged.

"It's easy. Log in to the app and then click on the five-star rating." Aiden implored with a persistent tone.

"And what does a five-star rating do for you?" Finally, Jason was forced to pause whatever he was doing. That singular act, boosted Aiden's excitement to continue.

"The Uber company gives you two dollars per five-star rating," Aiden answered enthusiastically. Jason chuckled before he looked up at Aiden.

"And how much do you earn per day with this job of yours?" He asked with a sneer.

"Fifteen dollars on good days, and ten dollars on a rainy day," Aiden replied innocently, without noticing any iota of ridicule from Jason.

"How miserable can you get?" Jason asked rhetorically after a thread of outbursts, causing Aiden to regret asking the question in the first place.

If only fate could smile on him and elevate his status, he would have no reason to serve people like Jason.

"I see you have a girlfriend as well," Jason broke into his silence as he reached out and grabbed a picture on Aiden's dashboard. A tinge of recognition crossed his eyes as he looked at the lady in the picture, but he concealed it with a faint chuckle.

"So how do you expect to cater for a woman as beautiful as this with your miserly daily pay?" The man asked.

"With all due respect sir, she knows that I work so hard for us," Aiden said firmly, tightening his fist to the wheel in rage. "No matter what you say, stay out of my relationship life!" Aiden added between gritted teeth, bringing the car to a halt.

Jason, on the other hand, chuckled. "Of course, I won't interfere. Only that, you never can tell what's coming next because life is full of surprises," Jason sarcastically replied with a smirk as he alighted at his location, jamming the door heavily.

Every single thing Jason had said came playing into his head, his grip tightened to the wheel more as he watched Jason disappear from sight.

If Aiden was given the opportunity, he would definitely beat Jason to a pulp. However, he let it slide, stepped on the gas, and was just about driving off when he heard his phone chim.

A glance at it, his anger intensified.

"What do you want?" Aiden asked, taking deep breaths to let go of his anger so Jason would not choose an unfair review.

"I left a bag in your car, and I need you to bring it upstairs for me," Jason stated, completely ignoring his rage. "The house number is the penthouse," he added.

Aiden hung up first and looked at the backseat. There was a white paper bag lying there which seemed to contain another item.

He was still raging within him, as such, all he wanted was to deliver the damn bag and get the hell out of the place.

Following the given address, Aiden realized it took him to the front of a glassy building, obviously meant for the wealthy.

No wonder Jason could insult him all because of a mere question. Aiden thought to himself, made use of the elevator and he soon got to the top floor.

The moment he approached the stated door, attempting to press the doorbell, he was interrupted by moans from a lady coming from within.

"This guy is a real asshole." Aiden said to himself, but then his actions were once again cut short when the voice. sounded oddly familiar.

However, he brushed the thought off his mind immediately and pressed the doorbell, first, second time. Attempting the third, the door flung open, giving way for a feminine figure.

With his fist hanging in the air, Aiden's jaw dropped, sighting the lady before him.

"Alice?!" he felt cold chills run down his spine. Running his gaze over her body, he as well realized she was on a short towel.

A perfect evidence that it was her voice he heard all along.

"Alice! What the hell? What are you doing up here?"
