I should have known that it was all a bait but still I took it. Maybe just to prove to Jeremiah that I was not scared of him. I noticed Layla was having a blast with her friends. She stole a few glances at me and laughed.

I need to get my head in the game. I needed to find Cassie before something bad happened to her. She was more of my lifeline than I had expected her to be.

The disco light was doing more than enough damage to blur my vision. I could barely see anything in them. But then, my gaze caught him.

Dennis.

One of Jeremiah's lackie. He looked around the room like a thief before he entered the room. I don't need to be told that it was where they were holding Casse.

I bolted towards him but when I got to the door, it had a sign up head.

V.I.P

I knew I was not. At least not now. I saw two muscular men standing guard like the main door for those going to heaven.

“ What do you want?” One of the men asked, looking at me like I was a missing rat.

“ I need to get inside. My g

The last thing on my mind was my mother being paranoid. I knew she wouldn't believe anything I told her. I mean, who would believe that a mysterious system bestowed me wit money on every quest that I tried to accomplish. Well, on the good part most of my quest was about taking down Jeremiah. I still don't know what to tell her. We have alot of debts to offset. Maybe the system was trying to help me out of this mess or maybe I haven't just realised what the system wanted with me. I looked at the pictures, the videos and my head began to boot immediately. I have seen Sandra drove that exotic car. Maybe I can pin all of this on her?“ She helped out.” My lips parted and the word flew out unknowingly. “ Who? Who are you talking about?” My mother eyebrows arched. I don't want her worrying about me. “ Sandra. She is my new girlfriend. She helped with everything you are seeing on there, mum.” My gaze bored into her. Did she believe me? Not sure yet. “ Are you sure about this, Pontius

Funny when you think you are alone and boom, somebody shows how to save the day. I was still in shock. That moment when you think you are down, no helper, no girlfriend, nothing but there is something in your life giving you joy. Sandra was not my girlfriend. At least, not yet. Cassie and Layla had taught me the hard way. I can't fall for a lady even if I want to. It was best for us to benefit ourselves. You scratch my back and I scratch yours. I know a lady like Sandra wanted more. Attention, cravings and most importantly being truthful. I stared at the card in my hand and smiled. I was like that before. I was truthful to Layla and even Cassie but they used it against me. I was not going to make that same mistake again. I tucked the card into my pocket with the key I had just won dangling between my neck. For some weird reason, most of the kids wanted to be my friends. It was quite funny, most of them laughed at me and even talked behind my back. But everything changed the mo

I could feel all eyes literally staring at me. Am I in trouble? “ Is he in trouble?” One of the bystanders stared at me. His hand gently draped over the shoulders of his girlfriend. “ Are you Pontius?” He asked gently, his hand pocket inside the black pants he was wearing. “ Yes. That is my name.” I replied, my eyes fully pressed on him. “ Well, this is for you.” The man simply brought out a black card and handed it over to me. At first, I felt scared to collect it. I don't know who he was and trust me, I don't care. I have never expected any help from anyone aside from the mysterious system. My eyes darted towards Jeremy who wanted me to fall at all cost and of course, there are my ex's who wanted to see me crash and burn too. “ Is that a black card?” “That is impossible! Only the elite use it.” “ Who's Pontius? Is he some rich man’s kid?” “ What does his father do?” “ Do they own a company or something?” I myself was not sure why the heck is going on?” I held the bla

A loud roar echoed through the hall. Most of the students were all throwing themselves at me. Some of the big girls who felt they were too big to come near me stayed right behind to watch. The guys carried me high, throwing me up like I was a sack of potatoes and I cannot stop grinning from ear to ear. I don't know if I should be happy or scared. The fact that I don't have the money yet or the fact that I had managed to humiliate the one person scares the shit out of me. I stared at Sandra who was seated at the corner of the grand hall. Her hand clasped between her two laps and she couldn't stop staring at me. Maybe frightened? Or wondering where the hell I had gotten that huge amount of money from. I smiled sheepishly looking at Layla and then Cassie. The two women who I had believed were the right choice for me. Philip's voice ran through again. “ Can you please come? We need you to please pay the money for this and the key is yours.” The auditorium fell into a deafening sile

It felt good actually. Doing the impossible. Have you ever wondered what it felt like? Wiping the smug grin of your foes off their faces. Pontius the pauper! Pontius the wretched!I knew they were all surprised. I was not some fancy boy in a fancy school uniform or a fancy suit from Italy. Oh! I miss the way they call it. Those fucking rich brats!. They made life for the poor unbearable even though the university was mainly for the rich and the elite but we all know the truth. The calibre, the power and the dominance was always there. And I was the underdog. At least I used to be until the system found me. I wonder what my life would be like. My house, my mother, was sacked. I wonder how I was going to survive the bully on my own but then, I don't have to bother myself anymore. The room erupted like a hive struck with a stone. I know most of them were not sure they heard me. I was not sure if I was thinking straight too. I mean, the system has not even offered me anything y

All eyes were on me. Most of them were eager to see what I was going to do. Everyone knows one thing, Jeremiah was like a kingpin in the school. His power was unchallenged and not to mention the fact that his father was a big man in the society. They both were feared. I was scared too, a part of me was but I couldn't go back now, not when the boat had sailed. I looked at Philips who had a sly smile on his face. “ You can't win this, you know.” Sandra said, looking at me. I could see the fears in her eyes. “ And why can't I? Do you think Jeremiah is better than any one here?” I said, rolling up my sleeve. “ Because he always finds a way to win. And you, I don't think you have the balls to match up to someone like him. I heard his father even ended up sacking your mother from his hospital.” She said again. I clenched my hands in anger. Her words hurt me more than I cared to admit but of course, she was right. Jeremiah had been torn in my flesh for a very long time. And the though
