The once-celebratory atmosphere at the Langston Mansion had turned ice-cold.

Christie stood in the middle of the grand hall, her face twisted with rage, the contract trembling in her grip.

“Langtech is listed as a partner… and Langston Heights… is just a processing plant?” she hissed, her voice rising with each word.

Then—smack!

She hurled the document onto the marble floor. Pages scattered like fallen leaves.

“WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?” she roared. “Who dares make a fool out of me!?”

Carson, pale-faced and stunned, stumbled forward, flipping through the pages again in disbelief.

“F-Fuck…” he muttered, panic flooding his expression. “I was tricked! Someone… someone pulled a fast one on me!”

From the corner, Ava’s head snapped up.

Eyes wide, she rushed over and dropped to one knee beside the scattered papers. Her hands trembled as she snatched up the file, scanning it with frantic eyes.

“What…?” she gasped. “Langtech is the main partner?”

She checked again—confirmed.

Tessa lifted her hand, letting the light catch on the diamond so large it could cut the air between them. The stone blazed cold and merciless, like it was mocking him.Adam’s smile froze mid-curve, his jaw tightening until the muscle in his cheek twitched. His voice was low but edged like glass.“A diamond ring… on your ring finger? What the hell is this supposed to mean?”Tessa’s gaze didn’t waver, but there was a faint apology in her tone.“I’m sorry, Adam. I just accepted Mr. Boros’s proposal.”The words landed like a slap.“What?” Adam’s voice cracked in disbelief before it rose into a sharp, echoing demand. “You’re my wife! How could you accept someone else’s proposal? And wait—are you talking about Christian Boros?”“That’s right.” Tessa’s tone was calm, almost too calm, as if she’d rehearsed this.Adam took a step toward her, his eyes narrowing. “We’re still married, Tessa.”“You and I aren’t in a real marriage,” she replied, each word deliberate. “We signed the divorce agreeme

Everyone knew Tessa’s personality — once she set her mind on something, there was no moving her. They couldn’t force her, so they went for the one thing that always worked: guilt.“I’ll figure something out for the company,” Tessa said firmly, her voice carrying that stubborn edge her family hated.Eleanor’s eyes shimmered with frustration. “Tessa, it’s been too long. The business isn’t improving. Now that Mr. Boros has come with a ten-billion-dollar contract, it’s the perfect opportunity — our only opportunity. Please just say yes. I beg you.”As Richard spoke, his face flushed red with urgency, and then — to Tessa’s shock — he dropped to his knees right in front of her.“Dad! What are you doing?” Tessa’s eyes widened.“Please, Tessa,” Eleanor said, and without hesitation, she followed her husband’s lead, kneeling as well.“Mom! Get up!” Tessa rushed to grab them both by the arms, her hands trembling, but they stayed rooted to the ground. The sight of her own parents kneeling before

"What?"Tessa froze. Her lips parted, but the words caught in her throat. She’d suspected Christian had come with an agenda, but hearing it out loud—so brazen, so shameless—still blindsided her.Christian’s smirk widened as if her shock was the reaction he’d been hoping for. Without warning, he reached into his tailored jacket and produced a small velvet box. The lid snapped open with a crisp click, revealing a diamond the size of her thumbnail, catching every bit of light in the room. Then, in one smooth, deliberate motion, he lowered himself to one knee."Marry me, Tessa," he said, voice heavy with a confidence that made her skin crawl. "I’ll make you the happiest woman on earth.""Please don’t do this, Mr. Boros." She instinctively took a step back. "Please, get up."But Christian didn’t move. His eyes locked on hers, unblinking. "If you don’t say yes, I won’t get up."His tone was steady, but there was a stubborn finality in it—a challenge as much as a declaration.Eleanor clapped

Gerald caught Adam by the arm before he could leave. His brows were furrowed, his voice weighed with urgency."This isn’t your fault, Adam," he said, his tone almost coaxing. "But we’re a family. Why don’t you have a word with Ms. Zarholt? See if she’ll let Brielle go?"Tessa hesitated, then added softly, "Adam… maybe you could try? Just this once?"Adam’s gaze flicked to her. He didn’t owe Brielle a thing—if anything, she’d earned every ounce of trouble coming her way. But Tessa’s eyes lingered on him, expectant, almost pleading. That was enough."Fine," he said flatly. He took out his phone and dialed Ese’s number. His voice was calm, clipped, professional. A short conversation later, he hung up."She’ll be sent home," Adam said simply.Relief flickered across Tessa’s face."Let’s go back to our room, Tessa," Adam suggested, his tone low, deliberate. He could sense the shift in her lately—the guarded walls she’d kept between them were beginning to crack. Tonight, he intended to brea

Gerald bowed his head in pity, he wanted to help his granddaughter but, 200 million isn't a small amount.Furthermore, he couldn’t stomach the thought of throwing away two hundred million dollars like it was pocket change.“Dad, Brielle is your granddaughter,” Belinda said, her voice laced with desperation. “You can’t just give up on her like this.”“I never said I was giving up on her,” Gerald replied, his tone clipped. His brows knitted together, deep lines forming on his forehead. “But this is two hundred million dollars, Belinda. Look at our current state—where exactly do you think I’m going to pull that kind of money from? I say we contact Mr. Iron. He’s the one who poured the wine; he should pay for it.”“But we can’t reach him!” Belinda shot back, her words trembling with frustration. Her eyes darted toward Adam, who sat across from them casually sipping tea as though none of this chaos concerned him.“This is all your fault,” she spat suddenly. “If you hadn’t brought that bott

After Ese left, Gerald leaned forward like a child about to unwrap a gift. “Adam, how do you know Ms. Zarholt? What’s the connection between you two?”Every head turned toward Adam, curiosity thick in the air. Even Tessa was looking at him, brows slightly raised, eyes searching his face for a clue she hadn’t seen before.Adam leaned back in his seat, calm and composed. “I treated her father.”His voice was flat—honest but indifferent. That made the room go quiet for a second.“You treated her father?” Gerald echoed, clearly hoping for more.“Cain Zarholt had an old injury. I helped him recover. That’s all.”It was the truth—but it wasn’t the whole truth. Adam didn’t owe them that.Belinda’s nose wrinkled. “Pfft. That’s it? Just a doctor-patient relationship?”Her tone dripped with disappointment, followed by a mocking laugh. “You had us thinking you two were close. I was about to be nice to you, too. Guess I overestimated.”She tossed her hair with an exaggerated scoff, trying to hide
