Tessa lifted her hand, letting the light catch on the diamond so large it could cut the air between them. The stone blazed cold and merciless, like it was mocking him.

Adam’s smile froze mid-curve, his jaw tightening until the muscle in his cheek twitched. His voice was low but edged like glass.

“A diamond ring… on your ring finger? What the hell is this supposed to mean?”

Tessa’s gaze didn’t waver, but there was a faint apology in her tone.

“I’m sorry, Adam. I just accepted Mr. Boros’s proposal.”

The words landed like a slap.

“What?” Adam’s voice cracked in disbelief before it rose into a sharp, echoing demand. “You’re my wife! How could you accept someone else’s proposal? And wait—are you talking about Christian Boros?”

“That’s right.” Tessa’s tone was calm, almost too calm, as if she’d rehearsed this.

Adam took a step toward her, his eyes narrowing. “We’re still married, Tessa.”

“You and I aren’t in a real marriage,” she replied, each word deliberate. “We signed the divorce agreeme

“After we separated, I thought you’d grow up. I thought you’d finally learn to control yourself.” Tessa’s voice cut sharp through the air, her eyes burning with anger and disappointment. “But you’re the same as ever—reckless, childish, doing whatever you want without caring about the consequences. Adam, I’m so disappointed in you.”Adam’s expression turned to stone. His voice came out like ice cracking. “You’re wrong. I’m not the disappointment here. You are.”Her lips parted as if to argue, but before she could speak, Eleanor snapped from the side. She practically spat the words. “Tessa, why even waste your breath on this trash? He dared to lay hands on Mr. Boros. Nobody can save him now. Not you, not anyone.”Christian, still reeling from the stinging slap across his face, suddenly spat blood onto the marble floor. Two bloody teeth clattered out with it. He stared down at them in disbelief, his chest rising and falling like a mad beast’s.“My teeth…” His face twisted in rage as he s

The crowd erupted, their voices overlapping in anger as they pointed and jeered at Adam, ordering him to get out. These weren’t ordinary people. Every face in the room carried status and wealth, men and women who were used to being obeyed, not challenged. Their presence alone was enough to make any average man lower his head and bow out.But Adam didn’t even flinch. He stood tall, unshaken, his expression a mix of disdain and boredom, as if the room full of elites wasn’t worth a second of his concern. He sneered, his voice cutting through the noise.“You low-life nobodies want to kick me out? None of you are worthy.”The words hit the hall like a thunderclap.“Did he just call us nobodies?” a man roared, his face flushing red.“The audacity of this bastard!” another spat. “Arrogant fool! You dare insult us to our faces?”“Kid, you’re courting death! Offend one family and you’ll regret it, but offend us all? You won’t survive a single day in Storm City! Kneel right now and apologize if

Trent sneered and stepped forward, his voice laced with mockery. “Loser, if I were you, I’d leave before someone drags you out like a dog.”Adam’s eyes narrowed, his voice dropping to an icy register that silenced the nearby murmurs. “I said none of you have the right to kick me out. Do you not understand, or do you simply enjoy testing my patience?”The temperature in the hall seemed to plummet. Christian’s jaw tightened, his pride pricked in front of so many distinguished guests. “Today is the signing ceremony between Bulgart Industry and the Armand Group. I am one of the hosts, yet you dare say I have no right?”Adam’s lip curled into a disdainful smirk. “A host? You’re just a department manager at Bulgart Industry, puffing your chest like you can represent the Bulgart Group. Don’t make me laugh.”“You little—!” Christian’s fists clenched, veins popping against his skin, his body twitching with the urge to lunge at Adam.“Mr. Boros!” Eleanor darted in front of him, gripping his arm

As Christian spoke, he flicked a bank check toward the ground with an arrogant snap of his wrist. The paper fluttered down like trash, landing right at Adam’s feet.Brielle’s eyes gleamed with disdain as she quickly added, “See that? That’s generosity. Five million dollars handed to you without a second thought. You should be grateful—thank him before you crawl away.”Adam’s lip curled. He didn’t even glance at the check. Without a word, he turned as if to walk out.“Stand right there!”Eleanor’s sharp voice sliced through the air. She hurried forward, blocking his path with a face twisted in scorn. “What are you trying to do, Adam? Do you want to ruin Tessa’s signing ceremony? You’ve done enough damage already!”Tessa, pale with anxiety, quickly followed and tugged lightly on Adam’s sleeve, her voice low and urgent.“Adam, please… I beg you. The signing ceremony means everything to me. If something goes wrong here today, all of my efforts will be wasted. Please don’t cause any troubl

Eleanor’s face tightened, her voice dripping with disapproval. “Tessa, what are you thinking? He wasted years of your life. It’s already generous you’re not asking him for anything in return. But giving him money?” She let out a short, incredulous laugh. “That’s insanity.”Brielle, perched beside her like a shadow ready to echo every word, leaned forward with a sharp nod. “She’s right. You can’t just throw the family’s money around like loose change. If you pity him so much, fine—give him twenty thousand. That’s a blessing, not a payout. That’s what you’d give a beggar on the street.”Tessa’s tone stayed level, but there was an edge beneath the calm. “He’s saved my life more than once. I think he deserves a hundred million as compensation.”That made both women freeze for a beat before their voices rose again in overlapping protest."This is outrageous Tessa, have you lost your mind?""You absolutely can't give him that much, he doesn't deserve it! He should be the one paying you for

“How did this piece of trash manage to get in?” Eleanor’s voice cut through the air like a whip. Her heels clicked sharply against the polished floor as she stormed forward, face twisted with indignation.“Mom, forget it. Just ignore him,” Tessa said quickly, stepping in her mother’s path, her hand brushing Eleanor’s arm in a vain attempt to hold her back.“Tessa, don’t be naïve.” Eleanor brushed her daughter aside like she was swatting away a fly. “Do you have any idea how important this signing ceremony is for us? This isn’t just business—it’s survival. And this—” she jabbed an accusatory finger toward Adam, “—this piece of trash came here for one reason: to stir up trouble. I won’t let him.”Before Tessa could say more, Eleanor was already standing in front of Adam.Adam didn’t so much as glance her way. Leaning against the wall, he swirled the deep red wine in his glass, eyes half-lidded, posture as casual as if the chaos around him was happening in another universe.“Hey!” Eleano
