"Xavier, are you out of your mind? The hospital has been calling me nonstop for hours!"

The moment Xavier answered the call, Selene's sharp voice exploded through the speaker, carrying obvious irritation and impatience.

"They said you were unconscious after a car accident. Do you know how many meetings I had to interrupt because of this? If you're trying to get my attention by throwing a tantrum, congratulations, you've succeeded."

Xavier sat quietly on the hospital bed, his expression completely indifferent as he listened to the familiar accusations.

In his previous life, he had desperately explained his injuries to her, hoping to receive even a trace of concern from the woman he loved.

Instead, she had merely replied that she was busy before hanging up.

At the time, he had convinced himself she simply had too much work.

Only later did he discover the truth. Selene's so-called important work had never been work at all. More often than not, she had been accompanying George while leaving the company's responsibilities and endless burdens on Xavier's shoulders, expecting him to handle everything without complaint.

Remembering that now, Xavier almost wanted to laugh at his own stupidity.

"Are you even listening to me?" Selene snapped impatiently.

Xavier lowered his eyes slightly before speaking in an unusually calm voice. "Bring your lawyer tomorrow."

There was a brief silence on the other end of the call.

"...What? For what?” 

"We're getting a divorce."

The silence lasted only a second before Selene's voice rose several octaves.

"Xavier, what nonsense are you talking about?"

"I've already made my decision."

"Because I didn't visit you in the hospital, you're threatening me with divorce?" Selene scoffed coldly. "How old are you? Stop behaving like a child."

Xavier listened quietly before replying with a calmness that even surprised himself.

"Selene, this isn't a discussion.” 

Before she could continue shouting, he ended the call and tossed the phone onto the bed beside him.

In his previous life, he would've apologized first.

This time, he simply hung up.

For several seconds, the room fell silent.

Then suddenly, the phone vanished.

Xavier froze as his gaze landed on the empty space where the phone should have been. His eyes widened in disbelief as he instinctively looked around the room.

The phone was gone. It wasn't on the floor, under the blanket, or even beside the pillow where he had left it moments earlier. It had simply disappeared without leaving behind a trace.

Before he could process what had happened, a familiar sensation appeared in his mind, almost like an extra space that shouldn't exist.

The next moment, the phone reappeared in his hand.

Xavier stared at it for several long seconds before his breathing became uneven.

His spatial ability had returned with him.

Xavier slowly closed his eyes as memories surfaced once more.

Instead, Selene had convinced Xavier to try it. She told him the company had already completed safety testing and assured him there was nothing to worry about.

Most importantly… She was the woman he loved, so he trusted her blindly.

The phone in his hand suddenly vibrated once more.

This time, Xavier ignored Selene's incoming call and instead searched for another number.

A few moments later, the call connected and a woman's amused voice came through the speaker.

"To what do I owe the pleasure, Mr. Lancaster?"

Xavier smiled faintly as he leaned back against the hospital bed. "I have a business proposal for you, Ms. Harrison."

"Oh?" Daisy sounded genuinely intrigued by his words. "Should I be worried about what kind of proposal this is?"

"That depends," Xavier replied calmly. "Would you be interested in acquiring thirty percent of Horizon Technologies?"

The line instantly fell silent.

Several long seconds passed before Daisy finally spoke again, disbelief evident in her voice.

"...You're joking."

"I'm not."

A disbelieving laugh escaped her lips.

"Your shares?" she asked incredulously. "The same shares you spent years building alongside Selene? The same shares everyone in the industry knows you'd rather die than sell?"

Xavier's expression remained completely indifferent as he listened to her reaction. "Do you want them or not?”

Daisy remained silent for several moments before laughing again, though this time there was unmistakable excitement in her voice.

"Of course I want them."

Everyone in the business world knew that Daisy Harrison and Selene had been rivals for years.

If Daisy acquired his shares as well, Selene would lose control of the company overnight.

"As a matter of fact," Daisy continued, "I've already quietly acquired ten percent from some smaller shareholders."

A hint of surprise flashed across Xavier's eyes as he quickly ran through the numbers in his mind.

Selene currently owned thirty percent of the company, while he held another thirty percent in his own name. Daisy had already quietly acquired ten percent from smaller shareholders, and the remaining shares were scattered among investors and minor stakeholders.

If Daisy successfully acquired his shares as well, the balance of power within the company would shift overnight.

The thought of seeing Selene's expression when she discovered that her greatest rival had become the company's largest shareholder almost made Xavier laugh.

"Let's discuss the details in person," Daisy said cheerfully, unable to hide the excitement in her voice. "Meet me at Platinum Restaurant in an hour.”

"Fine."

After ending the call, Xavier changed clothes, completed his discharge paperwork, and left the hospital in no time.

The familiar streets outside the hospital felt strangely unreal to Xavier as he stepped onto the bustling sidewalk. People walked past him while laughing with friends, cars moved steadily through intersections, and children chased one another along the pavement without a single worry in the world.

None of them knew that in just three months, this peaceful and lively city would become a graveyard. The roads would be littered with abandoned vehicles and dried blood, towering buildings would turn into hunting grounds for the infected, and the civilization humanity had spent thousands of years building would collapse almost overnight.

Fortunately, Xavier had been given a second chance. This time, he had three precious months to prepare for the apocalypse that was coming.

An hour later, Xavier arrived at the Platinum Restaurant. Just as he was about to step inside to discuss the details of the share transfer with Daisy, a familiar voice suddenly called out from behind him.

"Xavier?”

The faint smile on Xavier's face disappeared instantly as he slowly turned toward the source of the voice.

Standing near the entrance were two people he knew all too well.

Selene stared at him with undisguised disbelief, as if she couldn't comprehend why he would be here. Standing beside her was George, his arm resting naturally around hers, while the surprise in his eyes quickly gave way to unease when he noticed the woman sitting across from Xavier.

For several long seconds, an uncomfortable silence settled over the restaurant as Selene's gaze moved from Xavier to Daisy Harrison before finally returning to him.

Then, slowly, Selene frowned.

"What the hell are you doing here?”
