Ryan’s expressionless face moved from one officer to the other. He could see it clearly as daylight, the confusion and doubt etched across their faces as their eyes swept over him.

He wasn’t the same man in a hospital gown stained with blood and grave dirt. Rather, this man was clean, and the well-fitted clothes he wore now stood in contrast to the disheveled man they had encountered days ago.

“What the hell! You're right, Officer Branden, that’s him, the homeless man,” the second officer said

"Return the watch and I won't report you for violating academy regulations." For the first time, the lazy look vanished from John's eyes, replaced by a cold seriousness.Luke's jaw tightened, and his pride clearly wanted him to resist, but Ryan could see the internal struggle playing across his face.Several emotions battled within him, ranging from anger, embarrassment, and humiliation to, most of all, resentment. He hated the fact that his friend had been defeated and now he was being forced to surrender.Eventually, Luke released a long sigh; he looked down at his wrist, and his fingers moved toward the strap. His face burned with irritation. Then he glared at Ryan. "If it weren't for him—" He clenched his jaw.The unfinished threat hung heavily in the air, but Ryan said nothing, which deepened it. Luke's frustration. With an angry grunt, he swung the watch through the air, and Ryan reacted instantly, and it landed perfectly in his palm.Ryan scanned the watchman series. The screen

Luke shifted his gaze from Ryan's face to his friend groaning on the ground. The boy's body was curled to one side, with both hands clutching his stomach as painful groans escaped his lips and every attempt to rise only ended with him collapsing back down.Even the girl standing beside Luke seemed shaken by the unexpected outcome of the fight. Her eyes moved between Ryan and the injured student several times, as though her mind were struggling to accept what she had just witnessed."No way! Did a Tier Three student seriously defeat a Tier Two in less than a minute?" she muttered with disbelief masking her features. She lowered her gaze toward the fallen student. "There has to be some mistake,’ she quickly added, as her brain tried to make excuses for her.The other boy standing beside Luke looked far less surprised and more furious. He clenched his fists tighter until his knuckles turned white, and the sight of his friend lying helplessly on the ground seemed to ignite a fire inside h

  • Chapter 122: Too Slow

Ryan turned his head toward him, and the boy pointed a finger directly at Ryan's chest. “Just because you've been training with some Tier Two students doesn't mean you're suddenly important,” the boy sneered. “You're still a nobody.”Ryan stared at him for a second, and then he simply looked back at Luke. The dismissal was brutal as he didn't acknowledge him, and the boy's eye twitched, with veins in his neck bulging.Luke finally sighed. “What if I assume you're right and if I refuse to give it back?” he asked.Ryan didn't hesitate. “Then I'll take it myself.”For a second there was complete silence. Then the entire group erupted into laughter; one student nearly doubled over. “You hear that? He's going to take it himself! From Luke?”“This is getting embarrassing. "The girl shook her head. “I think you've finally gone insane.”Ryan furrowed his brow and his eyes swept across the group. “I don't want to hurt any of you,” he said, and the statement instantly killed the laughter. “This

  • Chapter 121: What's Mine

Night settled over Iron Gate Academy like a blanket, swallowing the last traces of daylight and replacing them with a cold silence that stretched across the academy. The loud cheers of the afternoon training sessions had faded away, leaving only the sound of distant conversations and footsteps traveling through the academy grounds.Across the neatly trimmed lawns shimmering beneath the moonlight, rows of lanterns cast long shadows across the stone pathways that connect the dormitories and training halls. Students lingered on the path as they were finally returning to their rooms after an exhausting day of training. Among them was Luke walking confidently down the pathway with three of his friends surrounding him. The confidence on his face was obvious, and his lips carried the familiar smirk.A blonde-haired girl walked beside him, with her eyes practically glowing with admiration. "Today was amazing, Luke," she said excitedly. "The way you defeated your opponent during the sparring

"Why is Harry still holding onto this?" another student asked nearby.A girl shook her head sadly. "I don't think he can let it go, and I can't blame him,” she added.Another girl sighs. "After what happened, he probably wouldn't be able to move on either.""What exactly happened?" A curious voice chimed in."You don't know?" The surrounding students leaned closer, and the girl sighed again. "A year ago Harry fought Danwin during the ranking matches. Everyone knew Danwin was stronger, but Harry challenged him anyway because he wanted a chance at promotion."The crowd stared at her with wide eyes. Her voice softened. "During the match Danwin broke Harry's leg,” she revealed, and several students winced. "The injury healed eventually, but not completely. Harry was out of training for months, and by the time he returned, everyone else had surpassed him.""And he never caught up?"The girl shook her head. "No."Ryan instinctively lowered his gaze toward the angry young man. Only then did

  • Chapter 119: Improvement

Ryan's intensive training continued for several days, and by this point none of the ex-Tier students held anything back. The earlier days of controlled sparring and careful corrections had completely disappeared, and now they fought him exactly as they would fight a real opponent.Every lesson was delivered through bruises, and every mistake was complimented with punishment. The training hall had become a battlefield where Ryan was forced to evolve or be crushed. His mornings started with Odessa dismantling his combat habits, followed by Nile's overwhelming aggression. Ruby and Alex switch between teaching him coordination drills and throwing him into impossible situations designed to overwhelm his senses. The process was brutal, and yet the results were impossible to ignore. Ryan was improving, and his improvement wasn't gradual but at a terrifying rate that even the ex-tier students were beginning to notice. The loud crack of colliding wooden weapons echoed throughout the training h
