Ting!
A message arrived on Brian's phone.
"[Your girlfriend is cheating on you!]"
Brian stared at the screen for a few seconds longer than necessary.
The message was short, with no sender's name and no explanation. Just one sentence that felt like a brick to the head.
He let out a shaky breath and locked his phone. He dismissed it as a prank or just the work of someone with nothing to do.
But the messages didn't stop there.
The next day, the same message came in again. The day after that, again. Until, before he knew it, tonight was the seventh day Brian had received similar messages from the same number, at almost exactly the same time.
"Shit! What does this person want?" Brian muttered in annoyance.
Not only were they annoying, but they were also starting to make him sick. Every notification sound felt like a taunt.
But on the other hand, there was a part of him that wanted to prove this was all nonsense. Lily wasn't that kind of woman. Lily was loyal. He was sure of it.
Brian hadn't known Lily for a day or two. They'd been together for four years. Four years filled with little habits, trivial arguments, and future plans they often discussed over cheap coffee on the apartment balcony.
Brian was a final-semester student. His life revolved around three places: campus, the cafe where he worked part-time, and the cramped apartment he rented with the last of his monthly allowance.
His days were busy and tiring, but they always felt enough because Lily was in his heart.
That night, after a long shift that left his back aching, Brian decided not to ignore the message.
He started his old motorcycle and drove to Lily's apartment. The night air was cold, but his head was far hotter with his own thoughts.
He was sure this visit would only prove one thing, the message was a lie.
Lily's apartment wasn't far away. It was a well-maintained old building, with quiet alleys and dim lights.
Brian stopped in front of Lily's unit door and stared at it for a moment, as if catching his breath.
Tiiit!
Brian entered a few numbers into the apartment door. They did know each other's codes. There were no secrets between them, at least that's what Brian believed.
They were even planning to get married after they both graduated from college. Everything felt real, plausible, and safe.

The door opened.
Brian stepped cautiously inside. The apartment was dark and quiet. The living room lights were off, and the television was off. He assumed Lily was asleep.
But a few steps later, he stopped.
There was a sound.
It wasn't the television. It wasn't music either. It was faint and muffled but distinct enough to be recognized. A low moan was coming from the bedroom.
Brian's body tensed.
The sound was too familiar to be mistaken. He knew it. He knew it. It was Lily's voice.
Brian's heart beat faster. His feet felt heavy as he approached.
Each step seemed to drag his own conviction. And between Lily's voice, there was another voice. A man's voice. Low. Choppy.
Brian's hands began to tremble.
He stood right in front of the bedroom door. It wasn't locked. It was just firmly closed.
With a gasp, Brian pushed the door open slowly.
The sight before him made his entire body freeze.
Lily was there. With someone Brian knew very well. Not a stranger. Not a random guy.
But Alex—his own friend. Someone he often hung out with, someone he'd sat at the same table with, laughed with, and shared stories with.
Brian froze.
All the voices in his head seemed to disappear. The world felt silent, even though the reality before him was so noisy.
Lily's face paled when she realized his presence. Alex looked shocked, trying to move, but it was too late.
In the next instant, Brian's anger exploded.
He stepped quickly and slammed into Alex's body without thinking. Punch after punch landed, filled with suppressed emotion. Alex fell, trying to hold on, but Brian was already losing his temper.
"You bastard! What are you doing?" Brian shouted, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and devastation.
Lily could only scream softly, unable to say anything. Her face was wet with tears, but to Brian, none of that mattered.
All that remained was the feeling of betrayal—by the two people she trusted most.
"I'll kill you!" Brian shouted angrily.
"Brian! STOP!"
It was Lily's voice that made Brian immediately stop his hand.
Lily glared at him while protecting Alex, who was lying naked on the floor.
"You..."
"I love Alex," Lily replied hoarsely and softly.
But it was a blow to Brian's pride. Lily didn't even apologize but instead confessed her feelings.

Diego leaned back slightly, but his gaze remained intense, locking onto Brian's every movement, as if he were trying to read the young man's mind. There was a clear suspicion in his eyes, especially after Brian mentioned a name that shouldn't be known to just anyone."Are you testing me? What do you know about me?" Diego asked in a lower, yet more threatening tone.Brian didn't answer immediately. He remained calm, his shoulders back, as if he wasn't under any pressure. However, deep down, he knew the situation was extremely dangerous. One small mistake could ruin his entire plan, possibly even endanger his life."Nothing," Brian finally replied calmly. "Do I look like someone who's lying?"His tone was even, neither high nor low, but that was precisely where his strength lay. Brian himself was surprised, as this was the first time he'd encountered someone like Diego, who clearly possessed such influence and a pressuring aura. But for some reason, he didn't feel excessive fear. Chapter 53
Brian maintained a faint smile, even though the atmosphere in the room felt incredibly tense after his statement.Mr. Thomas's hand, which he had just held, still felt warm, as if a sign that the agreement had truly been reached, even though it was fraught with uncertainty and hidden interests from each party."Hopefully, this collaboration won't be detrimental to us," Brian said in a calm tone, yet filled with implicit pressure."Of course," Mr. Thomas replied quickly, almost too quickly, as if afraid the opportunity would be lost if he hesitated even a little. That evening's meeting ultimately ended on a less-than-comfortable note. While it appeared to be a business deal, each person in the room was actually harboring their own thoughts and plans.Brian had successfully thwarted the wedding plans that night, and at least given Lyna a year to breathe. However, when Mr. Diego rose from his chair, his face still showing dissatisfaction, Brian immediately raised his hand, signaling for

"Who are you?" a deep voice echoed through the room, shattering the previously tense atmosphere of serious whispers and concerned stares.Everyone present seemed surprised to see someone enter unannounced, especially during such an important discussion.Several pairs of eyes immediately focused on the young man standing tall in the doorway, dressed immaculately with an air of confidence unusual for his age."My name is Brian, CEO of Aztech Company," Brian said loudly and firmly, without a hint of hesitation in his voice.Although his face looked young, even too young for the position he claimed, the way he stood, the way he looked at each person in the room, and the calmness he radiated made it difficult for anyone to underestimate him.The authority he carried wasn't feigned; it felt real, as if he were truly used to being in the position. The two people who had been engaged in a serious conversation now exchanged glances, then furrowed their brows, trying to discern who this uninvit

"The police station isn't always a place for the guilty," Emily said casually, a faint smile spreading as she glanced at Lyna through the rearview mirror. Her tone was light, but there was a firmness that couldn't be ignored.Lyna, sitting in the back seat, seemed increasingly anxious. She gripped the hem of her shirt tightly, trying to calm herself, which had been filled with fear. "But what can I do there?" she asked in a slightly stuttering voice, clearly not fully understanding the meaning of the suggestion."Yes, take shelter," Emily answered without hesitation, as if it were the most logical thing. "Brian also said you need a place to take shelter, right? If you rely solely on Brian, you're not necessarily safe. Besides, he himself doesn't necessarily have a safe enough place to hide you."Those words made Lyna pause. She slowly looked at Brian through the gap between the front seats, her eyes hopeful, as if waiting for an answer that would give her some comfort. But Brian remai

“Where are your parents?” Brian asked then, trying to dig deeper so he could understand the gravity of the situation the girl was facing.“At home,” Lyna replied quietly, her voice still holding lingering anxiety. “Tonight they’re having a meeting with that person and several other parties to discuss the wedding.”Brian nodded slowly, trying to connect the pieces of information he’d gathered. “A meeting to make sure everything is going according to plan?” he asked again, confirming it.“Yes,” Lyna replied quickly. “This is my last chance to escape. If I go back home now, I’m sure they won’t let me out again. I’ll probably even be under heavy surveillance until the wedding day.”Lyna’s tone was growing increasingly panicked, making Brian realize how short their time was. However, even so, he couldn’t make a rash decision without careful consideration.“Let’s wait for my master first, okay?” Brian finally said calmly, trying to calm the situation. The words made Lyna’s eyes widen, and h

"What's wrong?" Brian asked after opening his car window slightly, staring at the woman standing outside with a look of hope yet a hint of doubt evident in her eyes. The woman seemed hesitant to speak, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something, but her voice caught in her throat. She clutched the hem of her shirt nervously, her gaze darting around, as if afraid someone might notice her."I…" she said softly, but the sentence trailed off."Just tell me, what's wrong?" Brian urged in a softer tone, trying to reassure her enough to speak. He then opened his car door and moved slightly, making room for her to enter.Without further thought, she quickly got into the car and sat in the passenger seat, as if afraid she would lose the opportunity if she hesitated too long.Brian closed the car door again and studied the woman closely. Her face was familiar, as the typical student on this campus, but he was certain he had never truly met her before."I'm Lyna," the woman finally said,
