Adrian finally forced the coughing under his control as both of his hands shot up into the air. Every gun and blade in the room was still pointed straight at him, and with one pull on the trigger, he would be joining Sarah sooner than expected.

He was confused and had no idea why the weapons had come out in the first place.

Seconds passed by, and Adrian stayed completely still, his heart beating so hard in his chest.

No fangs, no red eyes and no sudden bloodlust. Just a man who choked on a cup

  • CHAPTER 52 — THE SHOPPING TRIP

After paying for their meals, the group left the restaurant and continued exploring the shopping district. Kellan wanted to visit an electronics store, while Emily wanted to look through a few shops selling accessories. Adrian had no particular destination in mind and simply followed them. That changed when they passed a clothing store. Adrian stopped in front of the display window and looked at the clothes on the mannequins. "What is it, man?" Kellan asked as he noticed Adrian. "My clothes are getting smaller." "Interesting. And here I thought clothes didn't grow smaller on their own," Kellan said as Adrian gave him a flat look. "Don't start." Kellan grinned. "Just admit you've been spending too much time admiring yourself in the mirror." "It's because I've been visiting the gym frequently, you idiot. My old shirts barely fit anymore." He had noticed the problem recently. His shoulders had broadened, and his chest and arms had become more muscular. Some of his shirts fel

  • CHAPTER 51: AN UNEXPECTED COMPANION

Lirielle pulled out the empty chair beside Adrian and sat down, making herself comfortable as though she had been part of their group from the beginning. She placed her phone on the table, removed the lollipop from the corner of her mouth, and glanced at the three people staring at her. "What?" she asked innocently. "Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Kellan blinked before looking at Adrian. "Bro, who is this?" "Her name is Lirielle. She's a friend of mine," Adrian replied with a sigh. "A friend?" Kellan repeated, raising an eyebrow as he turned toward Lirielle and extended his hand. "I'm Kellan, Adrian's best friend and the most handsome man at this table." Lirielle glanced at his outstretched hand before shaking it. "Really? Then I feel sorry for the other men in your life," Lirielle replied as Emily burst out laughing while Kellan slowly withdrew his hand with a smile on his face. "Wow. I like her already," Emily said. "That's because you haven't spent enough ti

  • CHAPTER 50: A WEEKEND OF SURPRISES

Adrian locked his front door and slipped his phone into his pocket before stepping onto the pavement. He glanced at the large tree standing in front of his house and walked over to lean against its trunk while waiting for Kellan. The morning was peaceful, with a few cars passing along the street and some neighbors going about their usual activities. Adrian took a deep breath and stretched his arms. For once, he had nowhere important to be, no vampires to hunt, and no training session waiting for him. He could definitely get used to this. A few minutes later, the sound of a car approaching caught his attention. A black jeep pulled up in front of his house, and Adrian recognized the driver immediately. Kellan lowered his window and leaned toward it. "Look at this guy! Standing outside his house like he's waiting for his wedding escort car," Kellan said, and Adrian rolled his eyes. "Unfortunately, I can't enter this trash you call a car because it's poorly decorated," Adrian re

  • CHAPTER 49: A DAY AWAY FROM BLOODSHED

CHAPTER 49: A DAY AWAY FROM BLOODSHED The sound of the alarm on Adrian's phone rang multiple times before he finally opened his eyes. He had been awake even before the alarm started ringing, but his body was too lazy to turn it off. He was not a morning person. Adrian pushed the big wolfdog lying beside him away, pushing her until she reached the edge of the bed before lying back down. “It's my bed, yet you're occupying the whole damn thing,” Adrian muttered as he sighed and looked up at the ceiling. Today was Saturday. A free day for him, and he wasn't going to let it go to waste. He was thinking of going to Black Cross, but he quickly scrapped that thought. He had been killing vampires, training, and going out too much. At least for today and tomorrow, he planned to rest and clear his head before the new week came with its problems. Adrian got up and walked into the bathroom to wash his face. He allowed the water to trickle from his hair down to his chest and simply stared

  • CHAPTER 48: A NIGHT OF EASY SLAUGHTER

The abandoned factory stood on the outskirts of Ashvale, surrounded by rusted fences and overgrown vegetation.Several broken windows lined its walls, and the enormous metal doors at the entrance were partially open. From the outside, the building looked like an ordinary abandoned facility, but unfortunately, it was anything but ordinary.Adrian stood beside Lirielle, examining the building while holding the new silver dagger she had given him."So, this is the place?" he asked."Yep.""Come on. Let's get this over with. I've got better things to do than stand outside a dirty factory," Lirielle said as she led the way.The moment they stepped through the entrance, Lirielle suddenly cupped her hands around her mouth."HEY, YOU BLOOD-SUCKING BASTARDS!"Her voice echoed throughout the enormous facility, gaining the attention of everyone inside."BLACK CROSS AGENTS ARE HERE! EVERY VAMPIRE IN THIS BUILDING IS ABOUT TO DIE!""...Do you always announce yourself before a fight?" Adrian asked,

  • CHAPTER 47: AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

Adrian had barely reached his house when he noticed someone standing in front of it. The person wore a dark hooded jacket, with the hood pulled low enough to conceal their face. Their posture was slightly hunched, and one arm was wrapped in bandages and supported against their neck. Adrian slowed his steps as he didn't recognize the person. Considering the fact that the stranger had chosen to stand directly in front of his house, he wasn't particularly pleased about the situation. He glanced around the street, but nobody else was nearby. Adrian adjusted the strap of his bag and cautiously approached the stranger. "Excuse me?" he called out, but there was no response. "Can I help you with something?" He stopped a few steps away, but still got no response. "Hey, I'm talking to you." Adrian frowned as the stranger remained motionless. For a moment, Adrian considered simply walking past them and entering his house. However, the person's strange behavior made him hesitate
