The morning air was crisp as Julius ran through the secluded trails bordering his private estate. His boots crunched against gravel, rhythm steady, breath calm. The sky was still pale with the early light of dawn.

It was a rare moment of quiet, until his phone buzzed.

He checked the caller ID, and it was a private number.

He slowed to a jog, then answered with a clipped, “Yes?”

A smooth voice, male and amused, replied, “I’m looking for the God of War.”

Julius halted. Very few knew that name and even fewer dared to use it since only the top level government executives and aristocrats were aware of this identity.

He was intrigued and answered the call.

“Who is this?”

“A friend,” the man replied lightly. “Though you have made more enemies than allies after last night’s gala. I figured you could use one.”

Julius narrowed his eyes, his military instincts flaring. “How can I trust a friend who doesn’t trust me with his name?”

A chuckle rumbled from the other end. “No wonder you're in su

  • Guilt...

David Beldham stepped back into the house, his polished shoes silent against the thick Persian rug. The hallway, once bright with natural light, now seemed dimmer, as if the life had been drained out od it completely. He removed his gloves slowly, one finger at a time, before heading toward the lounge where the doctor was placing his stethoscope gently into his worn leather case. The old man straightened slightly as David approached, his face composed, but his eyes weary.“Well?” David asked, voice low but firm. The doctor gave a small sigh. “It’s as I suspected. She is really weak, your Grace. Her pulse was faint, and her blood pressure is extremely low. It's not just emotional distress anymore, actually, she hasn’t been eating properly for quite some time, which is likely what led to her collapse.”David’s jaw clenched. His eyes flicked toward the staircase, then back to the doctor. “And there is nothing you can do?”The doctor shook his head. “Your Grace, my apologies but I ca

  • Loyalty

The fire had dulled into soft embers in the hearth, casting a fading glow across the sitting room. Julius remained composed in his chair, his face unreadable as the Duke of Beldham leaned forward, trying one last time to push his offer across the line.“You must realize that I can give you more than Glamorgan ever could: more money, more resources and connections, access to assets you haven’t even dreamed of. I can offer you support from circles that are going to matter significantly more after the upcoming elections.”Julius said nothing, so the duke pressed on.“Miley will remain the heiress to Morgan’s empire, whether you stay with Glamorgan or not. That won’t change. Her legacy is untouched. All I’m saying is, you don’t need to chain yourself to a man like him. I can make sure you have your independence… and your influence.”Julius rose smoothly from his seat, eyes cold. “I think we’re done here.”David’s brow furrowed, surprised. “You’re walking away from—”“Some bonds,” Julius

  • Glorified war dog!

The ministerial estate was bathed in silence, its opulence hidden behind tall, wrought-iron gates and surveillance cameras. But inside, the stillness was shattered by the violent slam of a crystal glass against the mahogany wall.Wine splattered like blood across the polished wallpaper.Dominic Valen, Minister of Trade and a man known for his cold efficiency, stood seething in the middle of his private study. His fists clenched tightly at his sides, his face a mask of cold fury.“He what?” he barked again, voice thundering through the chamber. His chief aide flinched but didn’t dare hesitate. “Mr. Colton restrained your son, sir. Publicly. At Duke Morgan’s state dinner. He also… uh… umm…”“WHAT!”“He actually intercepted a drink that was allegedly laced with a sedative and accused Jackson and Mr. Dross of attempting to drug the heiress, Miss Miley Hammonds.”Dominic's jaw ticked as he stalked toward the nearest lamp and swatted it off the table. It shattered on the floor, pieces skitt

  • Big talk?

For a moment, the ballroom seemed to freeze. The chandeliers sparkled overhead, music played faintly in the background, but the tension between Julius and Jackson Valen crackled like a live wire. Guests nearby turned curiously, sensing the undercurrent of conflict but not yet understanding its weight.Jackson recovered quickly, his lips curling into a smirk as he leaned in and said under his breath, “Big talk coming from someone like you! You think just because you managed to get a Heiress to marry someone like you, you can speak to me like that? When she doesn't have any problem, why do you!”Julius didn’t respond at first. He raised the glass he had snatched and sniffed it once. His eyes narrowed slightly. Julius raised an eyebrow and said, “What do you think you're trying to prove?”Jackson became bolder due to his dumbness and assumed that now, the public will definitely be on his side if he works carefully and makes himself the hero in their eyes. “I'm taking a stand for her!

  • Heiress

The ballroom shimmered under golden lights, with music drifting in the air like silk. It was the kind of evening that made even the sharpest minds soften, and the most careful hearts lower their guard. While Julius remained in the private lounge with Duke Morgan, discussing political threats with grim focus, the rest of the party was in full swing.Miley stood near the grand piano, her laughter light, her silhouette graceful in a deep emerald gown that hugged her figure with effortless elegance. She chatted with the daughter of an ambassador, holding a flute of champagne delicately in her hand. Her eyes sparkled with a natural charm that turned every head in her direction. It wasn’t long before someone near the string quartet murmured, loud enough for others to hear, “That’s Miley Hammonds, isn’t it? Duke Morgan’s heiress.”The words spread like fire among the elite crowd. All eyes drifted toward her. Whispers turned to greetings, and greetings turned to conversations. Diplomats, gene

  • Little guest

Julius leaned back in his study chair, phone pressed to his ear as he listened to the Duke’s deep voice echo from the other end.“A state dinner?” Julius repeated, his tone even.“Yes,” Duke confirmed. “It’s a formal affair ministers, top-ranking officers, international journalists. I want you there, Julius, and Miley too.”Julius didn’t hesitate. “We’ll come.”“Good,” Duke said, the smile audible in his voice. “It will do you both some good, and I have barely seen you after your wedding.”“We will be there, my Lord.”Julius’s brows lifted slightly, though his tone didn’t change. He wasn't going anywhere without assigning four of his assistants to trail them everywhere through the party– two of them for Miley, and two for Rory. After all, they were his girls now and he wasn't going to take any risks with their safety. ---The Duke’s estate glowed under amber lights and glistening chandeliers, the marble floors polished to a mirror sheen. The evening air was filled with refined musi

  • Locked up!

Rory’s little legs swung back and forth from the edge of the chair as Julius waited patiently, still kneeling in front of her. His broad frame was still, but his gaze was sharp, steady and fixed at her. The tension in the air was growing with time, but he kept his voice calm.“Tell me, Rory. Who are you? And why are these people chasing you? And mind you, I only want honest answers.”Rory looked down, twisting the hem of her shirt between her fingers. She stayed quiet for a moment, then gave a small sniffle. Her lips trembled, and tears began to well up in her big brown eyes.“I don’t know,” she mumbled.Julius tilted his head slightly. “Rory…”Her bottom lip wobbled. “The people who came to kidnap me.. today… and followed our car… they’re the same ones who wanted to catch me before…”Julius leaned forward. “Before?”“They are after me just to catch and lock me up,” she whispered, her voice cracking. Then why don't you tell any of us earlier? Also how do you know they wanted to catc

  • Truth

The car’s tires screeched as Julius merged onto the highway. The city lights blurred past them, Rory clutched in Miley’s arms in the backseat, still a little shaken by the events. Miley was whispering softly and reassuring her that they were safe now, even though her own heart was also hammering as fast as the car moved.Julius kept his jaw clenched and his eyes sharp on the rearview mirror, not letting his guard slip for a single moment. They were nearly ten minutes from the zoo when two black SUVs appeared behind them like predators sensing wounded prey. One closed in fast, the other came up beside them, trying to box them in.“Hold tight…”Julius muttered, reaching down to flip open a hidden panel near the gear shift. A hidden button etched inside the panel labeled glowed red.“Julius—”Miley began, but before she could finish, he hit the button. The car lurched forward with a sudden roar, propelled by an extra surge of power. The SUVs tried to adjust, but Julius was already weavi
