[Warning: High-Tier Spatial Reflection detected!]

[An 'Optimal Variant' has manifested at the Core Meridian!]

The cold air inside the glass cavern seemed to freeze entirely.

Beyond the golden-runed archway of the Core Meridian stood a circular mirror framed in black iron. Emerging from its center was a figure clad in a tailored charcoal trench coat, holding a gleaming violet blade.

It looked at Noël.

Noël looked at it.

The face was his. The posture was his. Even the slight slope of the left shoulder was identical.

However, the eyes were completely different.

While his left eye burned with an unstable violet light, both of the reflection's eyes glowed with a crystal-clear purple hue. There was no tremor in its hands, no blood beneath its fingernails, and no fatigue in its breath.

It was Noël Voss without the defects.

An 'Optimal Variant'.

[Variant Entity: Noël Voss (Optimal Draft)]

Classification: High-Tier Spatial Construct

Tier: Tier 1 (Peak / Gear-Breaker)

Characteristics: 0% Emotional Interference, 100% System Efficiency, Zero Fractures.

"N-Noël-ssi..." Tally whimpered from Noël's coat pocket, its tiny hands shaking. "T-That thing... its stat efficiency is at one hundred percent! It doesn't have a single structural flaw!"

Gideon took a step forward, his hand snapping to his rapier hilt. "Another reflection? Noël, stay back. If it's a Tier 1 Peak entity, we need to coordinate."

"Do not move," Noël said flatly.

"If you step within five paces of the archway, it will execute a three-stage spatial severance strike," he continued without turning his head. "It will sever your right arm, shatter your guard, and decapitate you in 0.4 seconds."

Gideon froze. "How can you know its exact opening move?"

"Because if I were unburdened by pain and human doubt, that is the exact move I would execute."

The Optimal Variant opened its mouth.

"You are inefficient, Noël Voss," it spoke coldly. "You carry eleven timeline fractures in your Mnemonic Ledger. You spend Tribute on useless companions and hesitate during critical tactical pivots."

The Variant raised its violet sword, aligning the blade tip with Noël's heart.

"In ninety-four percent of calculated projections, your path leads to total collapse before Arc 3," the reflection stated. "Surrender your vessel. I will clear the remaining Cataclysm Trials with maximum efficiency."

Tiiiing!

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' adjusts its spectacles, deeply intrigued.]

[The Gallery-being 'The Crowned Ember' demands to know which version is stronger!]

[The Gallery-being 'The Hollow Cartographer' holds its breath in intense anticipation.]

[Current Viewers: 3,420]

[Current Tribute: 32,400]

The viewer count was climbing rapidly. The Gallery loved watching a mortal confront the cold, perfect version of himself.

"Surrender my vessel?" Noël muttered softly.

He made a dark expression and took a step forward.

"It's a very compelling argument."

Gideon gasped. "Noël! What are you saying?!"

Of course, it was a lie.

Noël had no intention of giving up his body to a hollow mathematical equation.

"You claim to be optimal because you have zero fractures," he said, walking toward the golden-runed archway. "You think you are superior because you carry no erased memories, no failures, and no grief."

He pulled the Chronometer of the Unseen Clerk from his vest pocket.

"However, you misunderstand the fundamental architecture of the Codex."

The Optimal Variant narrowed its eyes. "Explain."

"A perfect System line cannot adapt to an unscripted anomaly," Noël said calmly. "The Cataclysm Trials were not built by theoretical maximums. They were built by broken, desperate mortals who cheated."

Click.

He pressed the silver crown of the pocket watch.

[Relic Effect: 'Chronometer of the Unseen Clerk' activated.]

[Local System Scan delayed by 3.0 seconds.]

At the same time, Noël activated his Gyre Eye, channeling the raw energy of his eleven Fractures into his left pupil.

Kuuuuong!

A wave of phantom agony struck his brain. The ghost-memories of eleven dead timelines, the burning sky of the Zenith District and the freezing snow of the Iron Tomb, erupted as a suffocating violet aura.

[Warning! Timeline bleed-through surging!]

[Mnemonic Ledger: 11 / 60 Fractures manifesting as spatial pressure!]

The Optimal Variant's calculation engine stalled for a microsecond.

"What... is this?" the Variant muttered, its purple eyes flickering with static. "This data... it is chaotic... it serves no combat function!"

"To you, it serves no function," Noël said, stepping into its threat zone. "To me, it is eleven lifetimes of knowing every single way I have ever died."

He didn't draw a sword.

Instead, he reached out his bare right hand and grabbed the glowing blade of the Variant's violet sword.

Puuu-shk!

Blood sprayed from his palm, staining the pristine glass floor. The sharp blade bit deep into his flesh, but he didn't flinch. At Tier 1, pain was merely a signal packet transmitted to the brain.

"W-What?!" The Variant's voice cracked. "You voluntarily accepted a critical injury?!"

"A perfect construct never accepts damage," Noël said, his left eye burning with violet light. "Therefore, your predictive algorithm has no protocol for an opponent who intentionally lets you stab him."

He dug his heels into the ground and pulled the Variant forward by its blade.

"Gideon! The right shoulder joint! Strike now!"

Gideon sprang forward like a released spring. His silver rapier transformed into a line of white-gold light, passing through the precise structural flaw Noël's Gyre Eye had exposed.

Claaang! Kack!

The Variant's right arm was severed cleanly at the joint. Its violet blade clattered onto the floor, dissolving into purple sparks.

"Kuh... Ah...!" The Variant stumbled backward, its body fracturing into silver cracks. "You... you will break before the end... You cannot carry sixty timelines..."

"Maybe," Noël replied flatly, wiping blood onto his coat. "But today is not that day."

Kaaaaa-bang!

The Optimal Variant exploded into a brilliant shower of silver light and golden Tribute coins.

Tiiiing!

[Main Trial #8: The Sea of Hungry Mirrors CLEARED!]

[Clear Time: 00:42:19]

[You have earned 8,000 Tribute.]

[Tier 1 Superior Skill Scroll: 'Void-Weaver's Tread' acquired.]

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' is standing and applauding your tactical madness!]

[The Gallery-being 'The Crowned Ember' is roaring in triumph, throwing Tribute!]

[The Gallery-being 'The Hollow Cartographer' marks your victory in the archive.]

[10,000 Tribute has been sponsored!]

[Current Tribute: 50,400]

The glass cavern dissolved, returning them to the damp stone reality of Tally's pawnshop.

Gideon sheathed his rapier and looked at Noël, letting out an exhausted breath.

"You let yourself get stabbed just to lock its blade?" Gideon asked, shaking his head. "Are you insane?"

Noël looked at his bandaged palm, then at the floating System window.

"It was the most efficient choice," he replied calmly.

It was a monumental monolithic pillar devoid of windows. He leaned on his right foot, his silver rapier drawn, its white-gold solar ether flickering against the gale. "My ether flow is lagging.""Keep your breathing steady," Noël said, wiping sweat and blood from his chin. The Second Spire isn't built from solid stone like the first."Through the swirling haze, the Second Spire loomed before them like a hollow iron cage.Unlike the solid obsidian walls of the First Spire, the Second Spire was composed entirely of thousands of rotating brass gear-platforms, suspended in midair around a pulsing blue energy core."A mechanical puzzle spire," Lyra said, her eyes brightening beneath her helmet visor.
