"Let him search," Noël said.

Gideon looked at him as if he had grown a second head. "Did you not hear what Lyra said? Malakor is a Tier-3 Inquisitor. He is the Warden of the Iron Tomb. He has three hundred heavily armed Syndicate enforcers shutting down every exit from Sector Three!"

"I heard," Noël replied softly.

He pulled a piece of yellowed parchment from Tally's counter and picked up an ink quill.

He wrote:

Do not speak his title or name aloud from this moment on.

He showed the parchment to Gideon, Lyra, and Elara.

Lyra blinked as she read the message. "Why can't we say..."

Noël raised a finger to his lips, cutting her off.

In his erased memories of the 1st and 3rd timelines, Inquisitor Malakor possessed an exclusive Tier-3 trait: Senses of the High Auditor. Anyone within a five-kilometer radius who spoke his name or title instantly transmitted their exact visual and acoustic coordinates into his mind.

It was the main reason the Iron Tomb had an absolute zero escape rate for penal labor vagrants.

Gideon read the note again, his eyes widening. As a noble from the Pathfinder Academy, he was familiar with high-tier surveillance traits, even if he didn't know the exact mechanics of Malakor's domain.

He slowly nodded and kept his mouth shut.

Noël pointed toward the floating broadcast screen.

Tally immediately hovered closer, clapping its tiny white gloves over its beak-like mouth. It nodded frantically.

Ti-ri-ring!

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' leans forward, adjusting its monocle.]

[The Gallery-being 'The Crowned Ember' grumbles at the sudden silence.]

[The Gallery-being 'The Hollow Cartographer' chuckles silently in anticipation.]

The audience in the higher domains was already familiar with Noël's operational style. They knew that when he stopped speaking, a high-density System exploit was usually coming.

He picked up the quill again and wrote rapidly across the parchment:

Malakor's legal jurisdiction is strictly confined to Penal Zone 4. Sector Three Sanctuary is governed by Codex Charter Article 19, a neutral refuge domain.

He turned the paper toward Gideon.

He is executing an illegal blockade to recover Syndicate property. If he triggers a forced audit scan inside a Sanctuary, the System will classify him as a hostile invader.

Gideon took the quill and wrote beneath Noël's lines:

Then why is he doing it?

Noël wrote back:

Because he assumes everyone here is too ignorant to invoke the Charter.

It was a simple calculation.

Powerful factions in the ruined sectors routinely weaponized information asymmetry. They relied on low-tier vagrants knowing nothing about deep Codex administrative law. Without an official jurisdictional grievance, the System's automated enforcement grid remained dormant.

Malakor was betting he could sweep Sector Three, seize them, and withdraw before anyone challenged his authority.

However, he picked the wrong timeline.

Noël unclasped the Chronometer of the Unseen Clerk from his vest and held it in his palm.

The silver hands of the pocket watch pulsed with a faint blue light, dampening the spatial vibrations around their bodies.

He gestured toward the back exit.

Elara. Lyra. Follow me.

They moved in absolute silence.

Their boots made almost no sound against the damp cobblestones as they slipped through the rear door and into a narrow maintenance tunnel. The air smelled of rusted iron and stagnant ether-water, but Noël's Gyre Eye revealed the structural conduits beneath the walls.

Heavy mechanical thuds echoed through the ceiling vaults.

Kuuong! Kuuong!

The steel treads of Syndicate enforcer armor were stomping across the upper bazaar.

"Attention, vagrants of Sector Three!" a mana-amplified voice boomed through the cavern. "By order of the High Auditor, all trade stalls are suspended. Submit your network identification badges immediately for security indexing!"

Screams and panicked shouts erupted from the upper rings as merchants were shoved aside by Syndicate soldiers.

Below them, Elara trembled slightly, her knuckles white around her spear. Lyra held her breath, adjusting her heavy supply pack.

Gideon kept one hand on his rapier, his eyes fixed on the ceiling vault.

Noël didn't look up. He opened his left eye.

The Gyre Eye spun, tracing the glowing crimson threads of Malakor's sensory net spreading across the upper plaza like a giant spiderweb. The threads searched for vocal resonances matching the keywords Malakor, Inquisitor, and Warden.

Because they hadn't spoken a single word, the crimson net passed directly over their heads without detecting them.

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' giggles silently at the clumsy search net.]

[The Gallery-being 'The Crowned Ember' is impressed by your party's discipline.]

[1,500 Tribute has been sponsored.]

[Current Tribute: 17,900]

They reached the end of the maintenance tunnel and emerged near the automated public Registry Terminal at the base of the central sanctuary pillar.

The Terminal was a massive obelisk of polished black brass, covered in ancient Aethelgard runes.

Noël approached the console.

Gideon watched nervously, tapping his lips to remind him not to make a sound.

Noël didn't need to speak.

He pressed his right palm against the cold brass interface plate and channelled a precise pulse of ether into the Aethelgard circuit board, using his Gyre Eye to locate the correct connection.

Tiiiing!

A pale blue UI window materialized before his eyes.

[Codex Registry Terminal Node #03]

[Select Option: 1. User Status Check / 2. Trade Ledger / 3. Administrative Grievance]

Noël selected Option 3.

[Filing Official Grievance against: External Authority 'Inquisitor Malakor' (Tier 3).]

[Claim: Unlawful Deployment of Military Force within a Designated Sanctuary Zone.]

[Filing F*e: 5,000 Tribute.]

He pressed Confirm.

[5,000 Tribute has been consumed.]

[Current Tribute: 12,900]

[Grievance Processed!]

[System Audit Notice dispatched to Regional Administration Core.]

Kuuuuuong!

An ear-splitting vibration shook the foundational pillars of Sector Three Sanctuary.

Above them, the heavy mechanical footsteps of the Syndicate enforcers abruptly stopped.

A blinding crimson light erupted from the ceiling vault as a massive, translucent System Seal materialized directly above the central plaza.

[System Enforcement Protocol Activated!]

[Jurisdictional Conflict Detected!]

[Inquisitor Malakor's administrative authority inside Sector Three Sanctuary has been SUSPENDED pending tribunal review!]

[All Syndicate forces are ordered to vacate the Sanctuary precinct within 60 seconds!]

In the upper plaza, a furious roar echoed through the cavern. It was quickly drowned out by the thunderous hum of the Sanctuary's automated defense cannons powering up.

Noël withdrew his hand from the Terminal and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

He looked at Gideon.

"Now," he said calmly, "we can talk."

He leaned on his right foot, his silver rapier drawn, its white-gold solar ether flickering against the gale. "My ether flow is lagging.""Keep your breathing steady," Noël said, wiping sweat and blood from his chin.
