“Alright. We should just about be wrapping up the first segment of this round of questioning. Theres just one more question you need to answer before we proceed onto the next segment.”

“The question is: do you harbor any resentment or hatred towards me and the people here who are holding you against your will?”

Selene asked the last question after which she fell silent and began watching Cale, waiting for his response.

Cale didn’t answer immediately because he had not expected to be asked this question at all. For all intents and purposes, the answer to the question was very clear. But knowing he still had to respond, Cale said sarcastically, “Isn’t that pretty obvious already?”

“Please answer the question clearly and without ambiguity,” Selene said before falling silent again.

“Well since you insist…” Cale began

“Yes, I harbor resentment toward all of you holding me captive against my will and not just a small amount too.”

But Cale didn’t stop there after answering. Giv

  • Cale’s Death*

In the world on the other side of Cale’s rifts, his entire consciousness hid, cut off from the rest of his body. As a mental projection of his physical state within the other world, Cale still maintained a connection to his physical body but he could not feel what was happening to him while he was in here. There was only a faint sense of understanding of his body’s current state and if information one what was happening to his body was sent to him without any sensations to accompany it. Like if somebody touched Cale’s body while his mind was in the other world, Cale would sense that someone was touchin him but he wouldn’t be able to feel their hands on his body, or if somebody was whispering in his ear, Cale would definitely know somebody was standing very close to him but he wouldn’t be able to hear a word that was being said to him. So while Selene and Trevor tried to wake Cale up, he had an idea of what they were doing but he couldn’t feel anything. So when Selene started e

“Damn it!” Selene in a fit of rage threw a tablet across the room with considerable force, causing it to shatter. Her eyes blazing with unconcealed annoyance demanded of no one in particular. “How long has he been in that bloody state? Why isn’t he regaining consciousness at all?” Selene’s eyes swept through everybody in the room who all avoided meeting her gaze as if doing so would condemn them to a lifetime of damnation. They all tried to reduce their presence as much as possible to avoid attracting Selene’s ire. And seeing everybody trying to avoid her like the plague, Selene brutally settled her gaze on Cale’s body which remained unconscious till this moment. Although Selene asked how long it had been since Cale was like this, she knew for certain herself without needing to ask others. It had already been over thirty minutes and yet the bloody bastard was still like this. During this time, it wasn’t like Selene had been idle and just waiting for Cale to wake up himself. She

  • Cale’s Suspicion

“All vital signs are responsive, heart rate is normal, and all body functions appear to be working properly, but the subject’s mind is not responding to any stimulation,” Trevor said to Selene who had a worrisome expression on her face. “I don’t know how he did it but the subject appears to have put himself into a comatose state. His brain is still working yet it is as if his mind has wandered far away from his body and thus cannot feel anything that is going on around him.” “This must be related to his powers, I just know it.” After hearing Trevor’s report, Selene was convinced that Cale’s current state was related to the power he had awakened. Why she was so certain had to do with how his current state was similar to the one he was in during the previous simulation experiment. Back then, Cale had been put under an induced hallucination that was meant to simulate a situation where one’s existence would be questioned. This was done to determine Cale’s awakening factor but an a

  • Secret Affair

Karla… this is the name the intelligent program highlighted in red to emphasize the impact she had in Cale’s mind right now. It was like all of Cale’s thoughts were entirely in her with his main focus being on concern for her safety. Cale didn’t seem upset that nobody had noticed his absence or was looking for him and since Karla was the only person he thought of after finding out there was a beast tides in, it showed how important she was to him and also how lonely Cale really was. Quickly skimming through the information the intelligent program had pulled up along with the interpretation of Cale’s thoughts, Selene’s frown deepened. This time, the information provided was even more detailed than what they had been before. As creating a model for Cale’s brainwaves requires mapping of brainwave signals in response to queries with known answers, a lot of information on Cale was already gathered but none of the information was detailed so while Selene knew there was a woman named Kar

  • Finding Out About The Beast Tide

Cale didn’t know this but as his mind churned with several thoughts after hearing Selene’s question, on the other side, his entire thoughts were being exposed without any filter to Selene and the other researcher who were recording and analyzing every thought that crossed his mind. Selene was excited watching all of this take place. She marveled at the ability of this technology that could pry into the minds of others and pull out their deepest darkest secrets. It was frightening. For year, the mind has been a sacred land for ones thoughts, the ultimate sanctuary that protected man from his fellow men. Barring the existence of special powers that could forcefully read a person’s mind, there was almost no way to accurately know what a person was thinking… until now. Sadly, this technology while being frighteningly powerful had some flaws. One was how long it took to set up before the technology could be applied. The technology relied heavily on the existence of big data to work
