Teodoro smiles when he sees Josias enchanted by a resident girl of Happiness Slum. “My boy, take it easy with that heart. Do I know her by any chance?”
“Her name is Melissa.” Josias responds as if he is singing, “And she lives further on.” Josias, however, shakes his head, “Well, what am I doing? Okay, the girl is beautiful and nice, and she was admiring my chest, even though I am not muscular; but, I need to find something. She must think I am a pervert for walking without a shirt.”
“There is nothing wrong with a man walking around without a shirt, especially in this heat.” Teodoro ponders, “But, as I warned you, better to start buying your things.”
Josias smiles as he remembers. “Her father is very strict; he doesn't want his dear daughter to marry a poor man. So I better get ahead.”
Josias starts walking out of the reception. Teodoro asks him, “Hey, where are you going?”
“Buy the towel,” Josias answers, without stopping or looking back.
Back on the main street, Josias realizes that a group of people is standing on the sidewalk as if they are waiting for the bus. Josias remembers that no buses are traveling in the locality and that it was a van that did the job. He approaches the group. “Excuse me; are you by chance waiting for the van?”
“Yes, and it is coming.” A lady in formal wear answers.
Josias looks back and decides to wait for the van. It stops. The guy in the passenger seat gets out and opens the rear door for the others to enter. He serves as the driver's assistant, collecting the ticket, cheaper than the conventional bus. There is still space and Josias enters, sitting in the middle of another teenager, probably going to some vocational course, and the lady who gave the information about the van. Inside, Michael Jackson's “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” is blaring on the radio. The guy next to Josias starts to move, he thinks he's dancing just like Michael.
The van reaches Downtown. Lagoon City is a medium-sized city with approximately 200,000 inhabitants, placed and build near the coast. The Downtown has numerous commercial and residential buildings, the tallest having an average of twenty floors. Traffic is busier, pedestrians need to cross the crosswalk and respect the traffic lights, and people crowd when walking on the sidewalk. Among so many people, Josias ends up calling the attention for being shirtless and in sweatpants. But, he is already getting used to it. Upon entering a Household linen shop, he is promptly attended to by a saleswoman who just needed to sell him a whole wardrobe, even Josias having repeatedly said that he just wanted to buy a bath towel.
When he left the store, relieved, Josias wondered if he was that cute, to get female attention. The fact is he was modest. And yes, he could have used the time to date the girls at school, but precisely because of the lack of financial support from his father, Josias spent his adolescence working in small services. Soon, he didn't have the head for picking up and dating like his other friends.
When walking through the downtown streets, Josias then remembers that right here he has already worked selling popsicles or delivering pamphlets. Any job that helped him buys jeans or new sneakers.
Josias stops walking when he is passing through the main square of the city, which is the ground zero of the municipality, having the slight impression of seeing Everaldo. A young man standing at the bus stop formally dressed like his friend from last night. Josias did not want to shout his name, as it could be another man. But, he tried to get closer. When he was almost close, a bus parked at the bus stop, and the boy, head down, promptly boarded the back door. If only he had his head up...
Josias regrets not having arrived on time. He wanted to meet with Everaldo again to say that everything was fine and that he was taking steps to build a better life. The religious boy's whereabouts became a mystery to Josias. Meanwhile, the same van pointed over the horizon, around the corner to the square. Josias signals to it. Immediately the other passengers look unfavorably at Josias, looking him up and down, thinking that the boy's little clothing and his dark skin indicate that he is a slum dweller.
Josias ignores the prejudiced glances and gets on the van, now with Captain and Tennille's “Do That to Me One More Time”, sounding on the radio and bothering others waiting for driving.

Engrácia received her with open suspicion, having no desire to engage in conversation with the Lady of Lagoon City.“If you came here to pick a fight, Señora Vasquez isn’t at home,” Engrácia stated flatly.“What kind of service is this?” Melissa demanded firmly. “¡Póngase en su lugar, sirvienta!”Engrácia’s fury only deepened upon hearing Melissa speak in flawless Spanish.“Are my son or daughter-in-law here by any chance?” Melissa pressed.“No,” Engrácia replied reluctantly.“And el señor?”“Don Erasmo has lost the ability to walk again since Sunday.”“Today is Wednesday!” Melissa gasped, utterly shocked.Engrácia rolled her eyes, wanting nothing to do with Melissa. However, Melissa no longer needed any further information.“Tell Erasmo that I need to speak with him. Anytime, at the LCN studios.”Melissa spun on her heels and left. Engrácia rolled her eyes once more, without the slightest intention of passing along the message.******Over at R
Chapter 3555 Let’s Proceed with Caution
João Paulo sat deep in thought in his usual office at LCN. Spread across his desk were several topics that actually deserved a spot in his newspaper column. These were no longer mere fifth-rate celebrity gossip; they were important and urgent news for the people of Espírito Santo.Because of this, the incriminating material on Olivia Vasquez was losing its priority in light of his column’s growing prestige.“If I publish this bombshell,” João Paulo mused silently, “people are going to accuse me of harassing the Vasquez family all over again. And Alan is living in the Mountain Penthouse now... Wouldn’t he be upset?”The door burst open suddenly, and Daryl walked in, wearing a snake-like grin.“So, João Paulo?” Daryl asked eagerly. “Ready to publish the story of a lifetime?”“You mean for my column?” João Paulo replied with indifference. “My life doesn’t revolve around Olivia Vasquez’s sinful pleasures.”“You know what I mean,” Daryl said, taking note of the turned-off computer screen.
Chapter 3554 To Publish or Not to Publish?
At João Paulo’s house, the journalist sat at the breakfast table, letting his honeyed toast grow cold and become a target for flies. Sandra gently shooed the insects away with her hand.“Dad?”“Oh, sweetheart, good morning,” João Paulo replied, snapping out of his daydream.“You already said good morning to me,” Sandra noted. “Why are you so deep in thought?”“Dad is daydreaming,” Walter laughed. “Must be because of Mom’s beauty.”Helen walked in right at that moment, dressed and ready to leave for her job at the Cardozo Store.“Well, of course your father would be thinking about me,” Helen chimed in warmly. “He loves me!”“Good morning, Mom!” Sandra greeted her.“Sandra, I signed the permission form for your school camping trip,” Helen mentioned. “But for heaven’s sake, don’t go getting into any trouble, okay?”“Don’t worry, Mom,” Sandra promised.“There are girls your age who go off to these camps and come back pregnant,” Helen added with maternal frankness.Sandra was about to sip
Chapter 3553 Preparing for Whatever Comes
A few days had passed. The whole Erik versus Nathalie Paterson affair cooled down, with the people of Lagoon City moving on with their lives. That included Nathalie. However, she needed something more to truly carry on as normal. On a certain night, Nathalie felt her bed trembling violently, the headboard banging rhythmically and fiercely against the wall. She felt pleasantly grinded and ravaged. An intensely virile, drop-dead gorgeous male body took complete possession of her, crushing her into the mattress. His beastly, masculine grunts and heavy panting made her yield completely, letting the man do whatever he pleased with her — which was precisely what he was doing. With her eyes closed and wrapped tight around him, Nathalie thrilled with excitement as Romulo loved her wildly. However, she opened her eyes and......To her utter horror, despite recognizing Romulo's raspy voice, the face of the man ravishing her belonged to ERIK!“See, you b*tch? I knew you liked it,” Erik sneered.
Chapter 3552 Disillusioned with a Son
J.J. spun on his heels, unable to understand why his father had an expression of incredulity.“What’s wrong, Dad?” J.J. asked.“Could you repeat what you just said?” Josias asked, utterly stunned.“I’m serious,” J.J. said cynically. “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to marry Sarah.”“And where did you pull that nonsense from?!” Josias demanded, stepping closer.“It’s just a feeling I’m having,” J.J. replied, shrugging his shoulders.“You’re calling off your engagement based on FEELINGS? Son, that’s not how I raised you.”“You didn’t raise me, Dad!” J.J. spat bitterly. “You simply took the rescue team’s word for it when they said I died in that plane crash! I was being raised by my grandfather this whole time!”“Ah, of course — Efraim Bezerra...” Josias noted darkly. “Your wicked grandfather who kidnapped me at that farm, trying to force me to marry your mother while I was still injured from my car accident.”“Let’s not rehash the past!” J.J. snapped, his temper flaring.“What do y

Daryl stood in his office, listening intently to Matthew over his cell phone. He remained near the door, keeping it cracked open to monitor the hallway for fear that Sofia might appear “out of nowhere.”“Dr. Hogan, what exactly did you mean by that?” Daryl asked, his tone serious. On the other end of the line, Matthew was checking the glove on his left hand while looking over his next patient’s file.“I meant that I let Luís Vasquez continue believing that what happened was just a misunderstanding.”“Except we both know it wasn’t,” Daryl replied darkly. “Someone wanted to drug him for a wild encounter, and since Sofia was out of the picture, I can only conclude it was his aunt.”“That is horrific. That woman truly has no boundaries!” Matthew declared.“Which is why, even if you don’t want to get involved — and I certainly don’t blame you for that — Luís will find out the truth as soon as the current scandal cools down.”“Are you planning to drop the bomb?” Matthew asked.“I’ve already
