Altair plunged the hunting knife in his hand right into the troll's neck.

Although the hunting knife was of excellent quality, it hadn't pierced his neck at first. Still, Altair wasn't going to stop there.

Again and again, without pause, he had plunged the hunting knife into the troll's neck, into the same spot, nearly fifteen times.

Within a short time, these efforts, this struggle, had been successful.

"UUUUUUGGGG..."

The troll did not scream in pain. Instead, a strange howl, a whimper spread around, and the troll fell forward onto the ground.

Altair rolled on the ground to avoid injury and, without stopping, got up and pulled the hunting knife out of the troll's neck.

[Congratulations!

Although Altair saw this system window and could directly perceive the development in his body, he really had no time to spare for this.

He took immediate action.

He pulled the sword from the leg of the troll, which had died in a second, and advanced towards another troll without stopping.

Perhaps it was because he could kill a troll on his own that he had this courage, but one thing was clear:

His actions were emboldening everyone else.

By the time Altair reached the back of the other troll he was attacking, he had already seen six trolls fall to the ground, and he smiled, happy that everything was going so smoothly.

In a short time, he had repeatedly struck the neck of the troll, trying to reach him in the same way, and in the end, he had truly succeeded in what he had set out to do.

After killing another troll, Altair looked around and saw that every troll was on the ground, each one seemingly cut down by a sword.

"We're close to the centre. If we run, we can do what you said before the monsters from the other fronts reach us, Mr Hunter," the leader of the soldiers said suddenly.

Altair shook his head and said, "Let's go."

The running started again.

Each step felt like another step towards complete annihilation. Monsters from all four corners of the city had now begun advancing directly towards the centre, towards the area where the statue stood.

The rest were busy levelling the city to the ground.

As Altair approached the city centre, he could see Nyx's statue much more clearly.

The statue... was truly beautiful.

It had jet-black hair covered with stars that looked as if they had been placed there by the Creator himself, glowing purple eyes, a long black dress, and facial features so beautiful they could be described as perfect.

Nyx... was like a masterpiece.

Still, that wasn't the only thing Altair saw.

When the young man looked at this statue, he saw it glowing jet black, but he could see that one part, the statue's left eye, was covered in a greater darkness, blackness itself.

"Godly?" thought the young man.

Apparently, the essence was entirely in the left eye of the Nyx Statue.

Altair had managed to reach his target quickly, without encountering too many monsters.

Or rather... he almost had.

As he approached the centre, he could see many monsters in the area, but one was particularly striking.

The young man saw this monster fighting an old man wearing a long robe.

It was a monster with sharp claws, red hair, and what looked like scales, but that wasn't what caught Altair's attention.

[Fiarka (Low-Demon - Level 42)]

This was a level of power so immense that Altair couldn't even imagine it at that moment.

The young man had suddenly frozen in place, even though monsters were truly coming from all sides. His whole body was trembling. This time, it was truly out of fear, and of course, for good reason.

"Level... 42?" Altair muttered.

If there was one thing he knew about the tower, it was that monsters' levels reset after a certain threshold.

So this strange-looking 'demon' might have been a small wolf or a lizard man before reaching this threshold.

Meaning it had managed to continuously evolve its own race and become a low demon.

How many levels had it skipped? How many times had it changed species and managed to increase its power?

There was no way Altair could do anything to this monster.

So the young man started running directly towards the statue.

He passed through the monsters, trying to push some of them to the ground even though he was not at a level where he could kill them.

Still, he eventually managed to reach the status.

The colour itself, burning with these pitch-black lights, completely captivated his gaze.

The young man had walked to the back of the statue and noticed an entrance there. Still, the entrance was locked. He realised that someone was watching him from the large area on the other side of the statue.

When the young man focused his eyes precisely there, he could see that it was a church.

Above the church was a moon, and around that moon were twelve stars connected to it.

"Nyx's church?" Altair said to himself.

It wasn't hard to see that the people watching him were wounded priests and priestesses, but another woman was standing among them.

A woman shining brightly.

Altair pointed directly at Nyx's status, trying to explain what had happened to them only with his gestures.

Although the priests and nuns couldn't understand what was going on, this shining woman standing among them suddenly stepped forward.

Despite being incredibly wounded, the woman had descended the stairs leading to the church one by one and managed to reach Altair.

"The moment my eyes saw you, I recognised the purity of your soul. Did the goddess send you?" the woman inquired.

Altair swallowed and could only manage to shake his head.

Even if he was lying by using Nyx's name, he had to achieve this status no matter what.

Everything depended on it.

The ability called “Will” was, in every sense, a cheat.A 70% resistance to mental attacks was, from one perspective, a complete cheat, and it would certainly not be wrong to think of it that way.To be clear, the area the young man was currently in, known as the ‘Timeless Hall,’ was a region covered in illusion spells, designed to drive one mad, filled with runes that constantly emitted sounds. It was a small room, a place where you couldn't measure time in the true sense, where the surrounding sounds and similar things could make you forget even the seconds you counted.Altair, however... was lucky.Truly.The only reason he had been able to endure for so long was because of his ability called “Will”.The “Will” ability allowed him to sleep, to have his attention distracted, and to be resistant to certain spells. Many people had already been forced to finish this test. They had moved on to the next floor, as if they had given up.The young man, however, had realised something was wr

Altair had crossed the next bridge and then stepped onto the second small island. The second memory, when the memory of his regret began to surface, was one where the young man had managed to see a memory that he truly regretted, one that genuinely saddened him. This time, he was sixteen years old. It was a memory from before he left the orphanage of his own accord to study at a school. It was a memory from a few days after he had been selected by a school because of his intelligence, learned that he could receive an excellent education on a scholarship, and accepted the offer. The young man was in a room at the orphanage. It was a truly warm room, with the orphanage's elderly director present and the orphanage's children, both young and old, around him. This place... was perhaps the best, most emotionally warm room in the orphanage.Whenever anyone wanted to cry, whenever they wanted to laugh, whenever they wanted to shed tears of joy, they would come here, to this room where the dir

When Altair crossed to the other side of the door, he saw a strange sight before him. Although... calling it a sight wasn't quite right. He seemed to be standing on a tiny island, with a small bridge in front of him connecting this island to another island. As far as he could see from a distance, there were exactly three of these islands. The young man clearly had no idea what these were and was about to take his first step.At that moment, a cough sounded from right behind him: "Cough-cough!"Altair instantly turned around and looked carefully at the person who had coughed. This person had pointed ears, a smiling mask on their face, bright red eyes, black hair, and was wearing a very high-quality suit.It was very clear that this was not a human, but it was also very clear that this person was not of Hazel's race."Hello, Mr Altair, it is a great honour to meet you. It has been a long time since so many people's eyes have been fixed on someone new to Aculon. It looks like it will be

"Can you understand why the eyes of the sacred beings are upon you? Not only did you purify the solid faster than anyone else, but you also forced yourself to do it. Normally, those chosen for Hell Difficulty are the children of high gods and goddesses. Like Eris or her brother Moros, who had purified the solid before."When Altair heard all these words, he realised how narrowly he had escaped. He had indeed shown more courage than necessary and had almost gotten himself killed. Still, he was alive, he was here, and that was what mattered."On top of that, you need to think. Your choices had consequences. You could have entered any part of the city to reach the mission area. You could have met people who could be considered side streets, main areas, different NPCs, made companions, and spent a day or two trying to clear this floor. Your choices would have led to change, but you proceeded in the most perfect, most courageous way." Hazel added to her own words. With that, she fell silen
