Scars of the past

All he could hear were echoes, and a dull ringing through his head, he tried to ignore it but the echoes kept coming and he felt a pair of gentle hands patting him.

He tried to open his eyes but the pain ringing through his head made him give up all hope of it.

When he was about to give up all hope and just fall back, the gentle hands came again then turned him over. Looking up he opened his eyes, enduring the pain to see his female neighbor Mary looking at him in shock then suddenly scream out.

Orion couldn't make sense of what exactly was going on at that point, confusion washed over him then he looked around himself.

"Yeah, I tripped and fell earlier"

He placed his hand on his forehead and his hands were covered in red sticky liquid, it looked like his face was fully covered in blood.

The shock made him forget alll his pains for a moment and stand up hurriedly.

He saw the spot he was unconscious on drained in blood, forgetting his pains he ran off into his room and closed the door, locking it behind himself.

Rushing to the nearby mirror, he looked at it and was terrified to see another huge gash with his already badly scarred face and a piece of glass sticking out through almost a quarter of his face.

Looking at it, it was totally reasonable for Mary to scream out, the glass literally tore through his flesh and he was still living after all.

With a strange expression on his face, Orion gently pulled on the glass.

“Ha… ha… ha…” he felt like his brain was about to turn to mush but ignored everything and wanted to sleep but instead picked up a t-shirt of his and quickly walked out to wipe off the blood with some water.

With shaky breaths, he returned to his room, locked the door and fell on the bed instantly falling asleep.

"When I wake up I should be alright... I'll be alright"

After all.. that wasn't the first time this sort of incident would happen to him.

And it all started when the accident that gave him the scar on his face happened 12 years ago when he was just 7 years old.

TWELVE YEARS AGO

A young boy skipped down the streets, a small bag bouncing on his back with a cheerful smile on his face. Orion in his childhood days was very handsome without the scars and a fair looking face.

"Mom, I'm home!!" He shouted cheerfully then ran over to his room to drop his bag.

"Why do you have to shout so much" his fourteen years old brother came to the living room and questioned with an annoyed face.

"And you're late, what were you doing out for so long?"

"I left school the moment we closed, I didn't go anywhere" Orion replied with a nervous expression on his face

"Well your issue"

"Is Dad home?" Orion asked.

"Not yet, I've to go somewhere now and I'll be back in a jiffy. Just stay in your room and don't go anywhere okay? I'll buy your favorite snacks when I'm coming.okay?"

A bright smile appeared on Orion's face "okay sure!!"

After his elder brother left, Orion stepped away from the living room and slipped towards his room. Picking up a drawing book and skipping back to the living room he settled down with a little soft drink and a straw and was about to begin drawing when he found out he didn't pick a pencil from his bag.

Running across the staircase in a hurry, his legs suddenly slipped and he fell back rolling across the staircase and falling over head first.

---------------------

Feeling drowsy he closed his eyes, and decided to forget about it like usual, after all he couldn't make sense of it, he suddenly woke up in his bedroom with the scars of his face and his skin also turned creamy. His mother tried to make sense of what happened or cure him but nothing worked.

Ever since then, he had to live with the horrible scar he didn't even know how he got and even his parents were concerned about it because no one knew how he got it within the span of a few hours and Orion couldn't explain it also.

The worst part were the changes in his body he noticed ever since then, at times he felt his body didn't feel like itself, almost like something else was crawling along his skin. Scars healed within a few minutes and even severe Injuries would heal with time.

If anyone else knew, he didn't know what they'll think of him as or if he'll be sent to some lab and be dissected to pieces but he knew the wound would heal with time. Closing his eyes, he tried to forget everything and sleep instead.

"Man, I'm really going crazy aren't I?"

He said to himself while wondering who else would suffer such injuries and sleep for it to heal instead.

"I'll deal with this when I wake up"..

Joel asked with a calm tone despite his rapidly beating heart."Not just panthers, we're surrounded by packs of them all, bears, wolves, tigers, jackals, hyenas and even cobras, I can also sight some eagles flying above." The soldier reported, panic evident on his face.Bang! "You're telling me all the beasts suddenly gathered together and launched an attack on us from all sides? At the same time? Without fighti

Orion sat beside, staring at the ground without a word.'Why are they staring at me? This feels so awkward, maybe I should use the psychic guys form to gain some sort of confidence.' Orion thought while waiting for Ames who called them over.A few minutes later Ames walked int

"Understood, move out." ---"What do you mean all the beasts suddenly vanished?" Alaster asked with a frown on his face."A short while ago the teams reported the same occurrence to the command center 'beasts suddenly vanishing from sight'" "I instructed the team to increase awareness and watch out for potential ambushes but nothing was found, all the beasts in the outer zone vanished." "We'll figure everything out as we advance, by tomorrow we'll move." Damion said with a smirk on his face."I am quite curious about what you mentioned also, I'm in." "I never said you had a choice." Aeric had a wide grin on his face as he turned to face Vincent who still remained silent."You're coming with me also."---Two days laterAeric walked across the small camp at the foot of the mountain, watching the soldiers march round the camp filled with endless vigor. The efficiency of the soldiers was really frightening, they managed to set up a suitable forward base within a single day, even cleared out all the tier 1 beasts roaming on the periphery of the mountain."The army lives up to it's name I'll admit, if only the battle wasn't in this dense forest we would win easily." • The Source

In a village located at the foot of the mountains near Cyberis, Damion stood with arms crossed watching the army organize themselves, creating a temporary base and supply center for the fleet to march into the mountains by the next day.Because of the dense forests even tanks couldn't be used, they had to rely on foot troops armed with guns, rocket launchers and bombs to carry out the siege."If the terrain was a bit more favourable this battle wouldn't be a source of concern, but they have all the advantage in this situation." Damion thought while watching the troops passing by.Vincent stood silently nearby without a word, he only watched the soldiers passing by with an expressionless look on his face.'How do they even expect this operation to work out? Bullets don't work against even tier 1 beasts anymore, only a few would actually be affected by bullets, this doesn't look optimistic to me no matter how much I try to reason with it, it's like throwing away the lives of the soldier
