They get to the laboratory in the forest and It was filled with vials of blood, scientific equipment, and disturbing experiments. It became evident that Mr. Gastor had been conducting his research here, likely in search of a way to suppress the vampire virus and its effects.

Amidst the chaos, they discovered a secret room concealed behind a bookshelf. Inside, they found detailed plans, blueprints, and records of Mr. Gastor's dealings with various criminal organizations involved in the black market trade of nuclear weapons.

It seemed that he was using his newfound abilities as a vampire to gain an advantage in these illegal dealings.

Lauren and Glass realized the gravity of the situation. Not only did they need to bring justice to Mr. Gastor's murder, but they also had to prevent his research and any remaining samples of the vampire virus from falling into the wrong hands.

They documented the laboratory, collected evidence, and contacted the necessary information. It was clear that this case went far beyond a simple murder. Lauren begs Zach to follow them back to the city to find a cure, Zach is scared he will hurt Lauren as he loves her but can not control himself around her. He agrees to follow Lauren back to the city.

Back in the city, two more dead bodies are found. The investigation took them across borders, uncovering a network of criminals who deal with nuclear weapons across borders and a web of corruption. Lauren keeps Zach in the laboratory they found on the east coast so he can have access to the blood bank and also be close to the scientist working in the laboratory. She pleads with Glass to keep it a secret to avoid attention on Zach.

As they dug deeper, they realized that the vampire virus was for Mr. Gastor to help his sister get healthy but also needed sponsors for his research he had to get involved in weapons for experiments to be tried which is now a potential threat to global security. The race against time intensified as they worked to dismantle the criminal organizations involved and prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Zach's blood is drawn in the laboratory as they begin to study the new abilities of his body. Lauren walks in, smiles at Zach, and hugs him saying “We have a lot to catch up on” I know I am just scared when it's dark, says Zach. She smiles. “I know you will not hurt me” They both step out to a coffee shop. Zach can still feed like a human being. You know if you're not comfortable with the laboratory you can stay in my house. Zach replies  I still can not control my taste around people.

I can read thoughts but I cannot read yours. I hear your heartbeat. She places his hands on her chest and leans over to kiss him. They take a walk along the street and Zach notices someone is trailing them. He grabs Lauren and moves with her at speed to a rooftop; she tells him she did not stop thinking about him since she met him at the airport. Her whole world paused when she saw the news. She lies on his chest and was fast asleep as he watch her sleep
