CHAPTER 7

The nurse jumped out of the nurses station and rushed to Dexter , still pointing her finger at him.

“Did you come here to make trouble? You picked the wrong hospital for your nonsense!” She yelled at him.

“Your grandfather isn't here. Get the fuck out of this place already!” She snapped.

“Does he think his grandfather is here?”

“Oh my… he must be sick up there. Obviously he isn't well…”

“Look at his clothes, how could his grandfather possibly be here?”

People whispered amongst themselves as the nurse kept throwing insults at Dexter . But he just stood there, watching and listening to them.

“Security! Come over here and get this vermin out of this place!” The nurse yelled again, and two large men quickly rushed to the scene.

They had frowns on their faces as they gazed at Dexter .

“Sir, I'm afraid you'll have to leave now,” they told Dexter . But he rocked his head in the negative.

“I'm not leaving,” Dexter calmly responded. But the nurse turned to the security men immediately.

“If you don't kick him out, I'll make sure you're fired!” She told them. Both of the men exchanged glances and attempted to touch Dexter .

But before they could, a female voice cut through the air:

“Stop this nonsense at once!”

“Is that Fiona? She's the hospital’s manager’

“I heard she's very rich and efficient. What is she doing here?”

Everyone froze as Fiona, approached them in heels that echoed through the reception.

With a stern look on her face, she stopped just before Dexter and faced the nurse.

“Fiona! Thank God you're here. This madman has been causing trouble. Saying his grandfather is here!” The nurse rattled on.

Fiona's eyes roamed from the nurse to the security men before it settled on Dexter . And just as people watched, Fiona fell on her knees before Dexter and bowed!

“Young master! We have been expecting you,” she reverend him

The nurse froze. Everyone else exchanged glances and whispers.

Then Fiona stood up and slapped the nurse immediately!

“What the fuck did you think you were doing? Do you think it's okay to harass the grandson of our most important patient!” Fiona yelled at her.

“But- I didn't know- I thought -”

“You thought what? His grandfather sent me because he saw the commotion through the feeds! Obviously you're not capable of doing this job!” She yelled again.

“You're fired!” Fiona yelled

The nurse fell down with tears in her eyes. “Please! I'm sorry! I can't lose this job. Please!” She begged but Fiona wasn't in the mood for mercy

“Drag her out of here!” Fiona commanded the security men who swiftly obeyed.

They grabbed the nurse and dragged her out of the reception as she begged and screamed, but no one listened to her.

“I apologize for that, young master. Please follow me. Your grandfather awaits,” Fiona told Dexter who nodded and followed her.

After taking the lift to the VIP floor, she led him to a room where an older man was laying down on a bed.

“I'll leave you two to it now,” she said with a smile and left the room.

“Grandfather,” Dexter smiled and approached the man with both a smile and pain in his eyes.

“Its good to know you're back to take over the company. We have missed you here,” Damon said to Dexter .

“I left to find a good wife. I thought I did, but turns out she was a two-faced, lying woman. But now I'm back,” Dexter replied.

Damon held his hand and smiled.

“Things like this happens for a reason. To make you even stronger. During the banquet I shall announce you as my heir and new CEO. Its time for your reign to begin,” Damon told him.

Dexter nodded.

“What about your powers?” Damon asked Dexter

“The block has been there for two years now. Only today was I able to access my powers again,” Dexter replied, a bit frustrated.

“I haven't been able to heal you because of the block. And I don't know how to remove the it either,” he added with his head low.

“Listen to me, grandson. Do not beat yourself up. A teacher will find you. I've already seen it. And you will learn everything you need to know. But for now, focus on what's right in front of you,” Damon told him.

“My powers didn't manifest until I was much older. Your mother was the same. But you were a prodigy. Even younger, you could already do great things. Trust in the universe, Dexter ,” Damon said and Dexter nodded.

Coughing profusely, Dexter quickly handed him some water an watched him drink it. Damon wheezed as he lay down again.

“Go see that the necessary orders are being taken care of. I shall join you at the banquet in three days,”

Damon said to Dexter.

“Alright, grandfather. I shall make sure the banquet is the best this city has ever hosted. I promise you that!” Dexter replied.

Damon smiled at him.

“I know you will,”
