She sighed, then placed her hands on her forehead before shaking it. “He has no chances of survival in this; the Black Bull cartels are dangerous. Countless officers had tried to get hold of them but failed, leading many of our men to their early graves.” Clara then walked to a chair and sat. “Though I warned him, he’s on his own now.”

Gideon held his bag, which contained the evidence he needed to track down the black Bull cartels and finally bring them to justice. He got to his car and drove to his apartment. After bringing out everything he had put in his bag, he arranged them on the desk in his living room, staring at them.

The reason Gideon was so persistent and genuinely interested in the case was because of a woman whose husband was killed in the recent incident. The woman begged him to do whatever it took to make sure the killers of her husband were brought to justice.

Apart from that, part of the reason Gideon could put his life on the line for his job was because of what his mother told him before passing away. She was involved in the mutation years ago, but her body cells fought it, and that resulted in her losing her life. Before that, she asked Gideon to make sure this city becomes a safe place for people to live in.

Gideon’s fingers strolled over to a specific section of one of the pictures, and on it held the specific clue he was looking for hours while researching all the evidence. “Got it. As I had figured, they should be at the Golden Hue Club tonight. Maybe if I’m lucky, I can get to the black Bull boss and take him down once and for all.”

In one of the pieces of evidence Gideon was having, he came across a specific one that pinpointed the location of the Black Bull cartel boss, and he was going to be present in one of the clubs in the eastern part of the city, a well-known club built of luxury. The club is a place where wrong men hang out and spend lavishly.

Night fell, and at exactly nine pm, Gideon headed out. He dressed casually, wearing a black coat and a cap, his eyes covered with a dark pair of eyeglasses. In his coat, he held the gun that contained the mutant neutraliser, and though he had no idea if the Black Bull cartel boss was a mutant or not, all he knew was that he was going to bring him down for sure.

Gideon heads out. He got in a taxi and instructed the driver to take him to the Golden Hue Club. And due to the popularity of the location, the driver nodded. And so the car sped with Gideon down the Golden Hue Club.

Within minutes Gideon was already there. He stood at the entrance as different men stormed in, but he wanted to observe before making a move. After noticing it was okay to step in, Gideon made his move.

The club was buzzing with music, and people filled the residence dancing, but Gideon remained untouched; his main purpose was to look for a clue that could pinpoint him to the exact person he was looking for.

After a while of constant concentration, Gideon noticed a man walking into the club. The moment he did, everywhere fell silent, music stopped, and people moved out of the way for him to step in like he was some sort of demigod.

“There’s no doubt, this is definitely the Black Bull cartel boss,” Damien mumbled in realisation. He had never seen the cartel boss, but with the aura the man used in coming into the club, it strongly suggested that he was the one. And most of all, the man was backed by hefty men, all wearing black suits, walking behind him.

The men went over to an elevator, and when the elevator door opened, they all went in, and the door closed.

Gideon, seeing this, immediately stepped forward. Just before stepping into the elevator, he was intercepted by one of the men.

“This specific section you are trying to get into is a VIP section; you can’t get in without having an invitation to see the boss.” One of the men bluntly said, his voice deep and horrifying, eyes widened and motionless like a lion ready to devour its prey.

Gideon steps backwards. If he wanted to get into the specific section they two men were preventing him from, then he needed a plan to distract them.

“Sorry, I didn’t know that this place was a VIP section.” Gideon gently walked away. The men stared at him with reddened eyes as he walked and blended into the crowds.

What Gideon had in mind was to use a spray he came with, if he could get away with it, he would spray it close to the men, and this would cause a sudden reaction that would distract them, giving him a way to get into the elevator.

The spray Gideon was going to use was concentrated and had undergone different breakdowns of chemical processes, which, if used on a mutant, would cause a sudden itching reaction on their skin, though it’s temporary.

Gideon went to one of the ladies, seated on a sofa; in her hands she held a glass of alcohol. “Hey, I want you to get a job done for me. Can you?”

Gideon went directly to the point. The reason he had done so was because he knew the woman wouldn’t hesitate if he offered her money to do what he wanted.

The woman swiftly lifted her head. “How much will you offer?”

Gideon went over to the man who had self-destructed, and the detective's night vision scanned the black bull tattoo on his wrist. After scanning it, it gave an indication for Gideon to retrieve the man's watch. The detective's night vision was as though Gideon was putting on mechanical glasses; it could scan objects, showing whether they could be used for investigation or not, and the watch, which was indicated for Gideon to retrieve, was embedded with the button that self-destructed the man, which means Gideon could use it as a track in getting to the cartel boss. Gideon slightly bent, then picked up the wristwatch and slid it into his pocket. He went over to the document he was in possession of and slipped it into his bag before heading out of the apartment. Before getting on his bike, he pulled out his phone and dialed Muzan's number before placing a call. “Hello, sir, I was attacked by black bull men. Can you assign some police to come get rid of the men in my new apartment?”

  • Unatural Strength

The man stared at what was happening; he was speechless, and in that moment he let go of the gun he was gripping tight, and it fell to the ground. The man dropped to his knees and at that moment he began to beg. “Please don’t kill me.” After the mutation that had happened, about fifteen years ago. Most humans weren’t affected, and the few humans who were affected in the city were seen as gods and feared. The man currently sees Gideon as one of them because he knows that death is for sure for him after making the careless move of pulling the trigger. Gideon was stunned as to what had just happened. “Dope, that means I have gotten a superpower.” The thought rumbled inside his mind as he thought about it. Gideon wasn’t a mutant; he wasn’t impacted by the chemical pollution outbreak that had occurred years back, so what had just happened to him startled him because he knew only mutants were capable of doing something of the sort. Gideon was confused; he touched his chest before looki

  • A Ghost In The City

It was then that Gideon fully realised he had been dead all this while, and the clothes he was previously wearing, which were already decaying, were all real, not his hallucination. Gideon’s eyes widened as he asked, “You mean I have been dead for three years?” Clara began to mumble words in her mouth, as if already getting mental. “No, this can’t be possible. I saw him die.” Not quite long, the news spread across the department that Gideon was alive. His superior, Mr Muzan, rushed into Gideon’s office, and the moment he saw him, he froze. Muzan was a very close friend to Gideon despised he was his superior, though he was older than Gideon, and a very skilful and intelligent man. His intellect in the aspect of solving cases is unmatched by any. He went over to Gideon and softly held his hands. “I’m I hallucinating, or is this real?” Gideon stared at Muzan, but then he hugged him. Muzan had so many questions to ask, and so he invited Gideon to his office. Gideon sat on the chair

The mistake you made was ever pushing forward in this investigation after fully knowing my men were behind it.” Gideon didn’t flinch at the threat the cartel boss was throwing at him. He casually smirked before replying. “I’m a police officer, so what did you expect? I’m doing my job.” The cartel boss chuckled. “Hmmm, that’s fascinating. I’m impressed.
