Chapter 1
The Ink Of The Bull
Detective Gideon walked into his office, then dropped his jacket on the desk before sitting down. Beside him was Clara, his colleague, who was appointed to him by his superior to partake in the current investigation that was linked to a recent bank robbery case that led to the death of two people.
Clara swiftly turned as she noticed Gideon’s presence. “Thank goodness you are back. I wanted to share something impactful with you about the recent findings I did concerning the case.” Gideon stood from the chair he was seated in and walked up to Clara. “What is it you have discovered?” Clara then pointed her fingers to a board hung on the wall in front of them pinned with different pictures of scenes that had occurred concerning the investigation, including pictures from the CCTV cameras, and the victims who had been conflicted, adding clues that would lead them to the main suspect involved in the crimes. Gideon gazed at the picture shown to him by Clara, then shifted his gaze to her. “Okay I’ve seen this; it’s been here for two weeks now. What exactly do you want to show me?” Clara then desperately stepped closer to the board then placed her fingers to a specific picture pinned on it. “Look deeply into this, Detective Gideon. Do you notice anything awkward in this footage?” Gideon sighed. Then step forward and pull the picture from the board. “What exactly are you trying to show me here? Did you forget we have been in this investigation for two weeks now, and I have spent every night going through every footage on this board. I need something new that could give a clear lead on what we are looking for.” “Yes detective, I know,” Clara replied, desperate, then used her fingers to poke a specific part of the picture Gideon was holding. “Sir, look at this. On the side of the man’s hands, you can see a tattoo, right?” After Gideon noticed this, a wave of realisation swept over him. And just then, Clara’s voice cut in again. “Sir, what do you think? Do you have a clue now?” Gideon’s eyes widened in horror as he gently shifted it to Clara. “It’s them, the Black Bull cartels. They are behind this.” Gideon’s face went ashen as he spoke. And Clara shook her head in agreement before speaking. “Exactly sir, the black Bull cartels are behind the recent robbery that happened, and for our own good, sir, I beg you to stay quiet and let’s gently withdraw from this case, deeming it as void.” Out of anger Gideon slammed his hand on the desk. “No, why should we do such a thing? We swore to protect this city with our lives, and we are going to keep up to our words and do all it takes to make sure it is safe, do you understand?” “Sir i understand, but you well know who the black Bull cartels are. This is a death trap for us. It’s just a matter of time before they get to us and kill us if we don’t withdraw. They are strong and intimidating. Even with the mutant chemical neutralisation we have in our possession, we still can’t fight them all.” Clara begged for Gideon to understand what she was trying to say, but he refused. Fifteen years ago, something catastrophic happened that caused humans to mutate. It all happened when a private organisation was involved in some sort of scientific experiment to create a self evolving cell that could help humans who are disabled to grow their missing body parts effortlessly. This experiment was not only sponsored by the government but was also trusted for the good and betterment it would bring to human existence. But something went wrong, and a blast occurred. The chemical spread across the city and affected some people, which led to deformation, and not only that, it also granted them supernatural abilities. And over the years, after this incident happened, those who went through the mutations went bad; some resulted in hurting people, while some used the powers for crime which involved stealing. It was a duty for the police to get hold of those people who are impacted by the pollution of the chemical to keep them locked up and inject them with the mutant neutraliser, which will make them shift back to their forms and become human again. What Clara was trying to make Gideon, her colleague, understand was that if he proceeds with the investigation involving the Black Bull cartels, which have high numbers of mutants, it will become a death mission for them. The cartel of the Black Bull will find them and kill them. And whereas no one had ever tracked the trails and succeeded. That specific group of thugs is a big problem for the city. They strike with perfection and leave no traces. After a deep breath, Gideon scooped up the rest of the evidence he needed, together with the picture, and put it in his bag. Just as he was about to walk out of the office, Clara’s voice cut in. “Detective Gideon, you can’t do this alone. Please, you have to wait a bit so we can look for a more strategic way to take those guys down.” “It’s obvious you are afraid of death, Clara.” Gideon shook his head disappointedly. “Don’t worry, I don’t even need you in this; I will get the job done myself.” “Detective Gideon, I…” Before Clara could finish what she was saying, Gideon shut the door on her and walked away.Expand

Doom City Tracy Of The Past
Gideon went over to the man who had self-destructed, and the detective's night vision scanned the black bull tattoo on his wrist. After scanning it, it gave an indication for Gideon to retrieve the man's watch. The detective's night vision was as though Gideon was putting on mechanical glasses; it could scan objects, showing whether they could be used for investigation or not, and the watch, which was indicated for Gideon to retrieve, was embedded with the button that self-destructed the man, which means Gideon could use it as a track in getting to the cartel boss. Gideon slightly bent, then picked up the wristwatch and slid it into his pocket. He went over to the document he was in possession of and slipped it into his bag before heading out of the apartment. Before getting on his bike, he pulled out his phone and dialed Muzan's number before placing a call. “Hello, sir, I was attacked by black bull men. Can you assign some police to come get rid of the men in my new apartment?”

Doom City Shadow In The Apartment
Muzan still couldn't let himself believe what Gideon had told him about what had happened to him; he had assumed and finalized that Gideon must have probably faked his death.Gideon walked out of the headquarters to a new place he had rented. Though after his demise, his money was still intact in his accounts. He opened the door to the apartment and went in, but soon noticed some things that weren't right: the place where he had kept some papers and other things he used for his investigation was slightly shifted from where he had previously dropped them, as though someone had tampered with them. And with thoughtful words he muttered under his breath, “There's no doubt, someone must have come here.”Gideon was very sensitive to his environment, especially to things he valued like his belongings, and he knew the exact way he had kept the documents before leaving the house early today, when he rented it, which is clear evidence that someone must have come, but the question remains, what

Doom City Unatural Strength
The man stared at what was happening; he was speechless, and in that moment he let go of the gun he was gripping tight, and it fell to the ground. The man dropped to his knees and at that moment he began to beg. “Please don’t kill me.” After the mutation that had happened, about fifteen years ago. Most humans weren’t affected, and the few humans who were affected in the city were seen as gods and feared. The man currently sees Gideon as one of them because he knows that death is for sure for him after making the careless move of pulling the trigger. Gideon was stunned as to what had just happened. “Dope, that means I have gotten a superpower.” The thought rumbled inside his mind as he thought about it. Gideon wasn’t a mutant; he wasn’t impacted by the chemical pollution outbreak that had occurred years back, so what had just happened to him startled him because he knew only mutants were capable of doing something of the sort. Gideon was confused; he touched his chest before looki

Doom City A Ghost In The City
It was then that Gideon fully realised he had been dead all this while, and the clothes he was previously wearing, which were already decaying, were all real, not his hallucination. Gideon’s eyes widened as he asked, “You mean I have been dead for three years?” Clara began to mumble words in her mouth, as if already getting mental. “No, this can’t be possible. I saw him die.” Not quite long, the news spread across the department that Gideon was alive. His superior, Mr Muzan, rushed into Gideon’s office, and the moment he saw him, he froze. Muzan was a very close friend to Gideon despised he was his superior, though he was older than Gideon, and a very skilful and intelligent man. His intellect in the aspect of solving cases is unmatched by any. He went over to Gideon and softly held his hands. “I’m I hallucinating, or is this real?” Gideon stared at Muzan, but then he hugged him. Muzan had so many questions to ask, and so he invited Gideon to his office. Gideon sat on the chair
