Madam Gabriella crossed her legs over each other as she brought the steamy cup of Earl Grey tea to her lips, stopping for a minute to take in its expensive scent.

"You are truly blessed, Madam Gabriella," one of her friends said, dropping her scone. "You really hit the jackpot with your daughter."

Madam Gabriella only smiled. Of course, she had vowed to show them. Her daughter was better than all their children, and no display of wealth and affluence was better than this.

She sipped her tea slowly, her mind reeling with the events of yesterday. Her new son-in-law, Caleb had prepared that beautiful banquet just for Melissa, and had even gone out of his way to book the luxurious Sun hotel for the event.

Everyone knew the Sun Hotel. It was made for the elites, the sort of hotel that without Caleb, even Madam Gabriella wouldn't be able to have access to.

"Truly," one of the other friends chimed in, looking around the state-of-the-art banquet hall. "It is truly beautiful in here, like paradise. And do you know," she leaned forward, causing the others to lean towards her too. "Just the regular rooms cost almost ten thousand a night!"

Madam Gabriella snickered, finding this to be the perfect time to chime in. "And I am staying in the presidential suite."

The gasps echoed around the table, and Madam Gabriella let them reel in the thoughts of the cost of the room.

"My son could never afford something so glamorous!"

"Me too," another supported, shaking her head a little sadly.

"Oh please," Madam Gabriella said. "They are very hardworking. This is all thanks to my new son-in-law, Caleb."

The atmosphere in the table immediately changed.

"Oh now, I want to hear about this new son-in-law. Did Melissa finally get rid of that dead weight?"

"I mean," one said, pushing her hair up. "He was always a let down. It is unheard of for a man to handle cleaning and laundry while his woman makes the money."

"Surely, Melissa would accept this new man? He seems deserving of her especially if this is how he treats his soon to be mother-in-law."

Madam Gabriella finally set her cup down. "Of course. She had learned her lesson from the last. In fact, Caleb had already bought the marital home, right upstairs. You can come with me, and I will show you."

The women immediately gathered behind Madam Gabriella, following her like flies as she made her way upstairs. The grandeur of the hotel only made the woman even more astounded, and with each new thing, more praises flowed for Caleb.

On the other hand, Coulter slowly put in the pass code, then waited for the familiar chime. It soon came, and he turned to Amelia who was standing behind him, her eyes big, her stance a little sheepish.

"Come with me," he said gently, then pushed the door open and walked in, urging her to follow him in.

Amelia slowly followed him in, and her mouth dropped open. The penthouse was astounding, and covered in modern, minimalist colours and furniture. The windows covered an entire wall and offered an astonishing view of the city. It was the perfect place.

"But this..." Amelia slowly said , a bit of doubt creeping into her mind. "Is this not a bit too much for someome like me who can't even repay you?"

Coulter gave a small shrug. "Please accept it from me, CEO."

Her eyes met his, and he gave a small chuckle. "Actually, I have always wanted to invest in NS Corp. Your business style and resilience was truly outstanding, but for a long time, I couldn't get a share. You could accept this grom me as a part investment, and if you promise me a share of NS Corp, I will definitely invest the rest when the company is back up."

Amelia bit down on her lips, tears stinging the back of her eyes. She had been exposed to the harsher sides of reality when her company went bankrupt. With no one on her side, and no one willing to help, Coulter felt almost like a blessing. Hell, he was a blessing that found her at the right time.

She gave a small nod, then sniffed hard in an attempt to stop the tears.

"I promise."

Coulter smiled, then looked around. "I will take my leave so..."

"I shall see you out."

Coulter nodded, and he walked out first, letting her lock the door behind her.

"It has keys and a passcode," Coulter said, pulling out a key from his front pocket.

He handed it to Amelia who accepted it gratefully, her fingers immediately wrapping around the key.

"The passcode is 805912. You can use either one."

"Thank you very much."

Once they got to the elevator, Coulter stopped, his eyes falling on Amelia. "You can call me if you need anything. Be sure to do that."

"I will, definitely."

Coulter smiled, then turned to the elevator, just as the doors opened, and he came face to face with Madam Gabriella and her friends.

Coulter sucked in a sharp breath, the memory of Madam Gabriella's condescending attitude towards him, and her daughter's cheating, everything seemed to rush back to him in that moment.

"Is that not..." one of the friends from behind laughed mockingly, and the whispers ensued behind them.

Madam Gabriella swallowed, her eyes squinting as she took him in up and down, her brows furrowed lightly.

"What are you doing here?"

He didn't seem to be in a hurry at all, just watching, taking in every inch of her."You are staring," she said, trying her best to keep her voice stable and not betray the heat that coiled in her stomach."I am," he said simply, nodding like it was the most normal thing in the world. Without another word, he stood up, grabbed his shirt, and then simply put it on."What do you think?" Amelia asked, turning fully now, her eyes following his movement."Perfect."She smiled, content, then let Coulter grab her hand, pulling her out of the penthouse. They got into Coulter's car, and Amelia settled in, her eyes closing, her heart beating hard against her ribs.

Coulter settled into bed right beside Amelia, who was still watching him, her eyes wide and slightly glossy, carrying an innocence that contrasted sharply with the lack of control she had exhibited just downstairs. The lights slowly went off, and Coulter slipped into bed next to her, his eyes falling on her face, his hand resting on the space between them. She looked beautiful, her lips thoroughly kissed, a small smile playing on her lips as she watched him adjust, till they were face to face."It was Ian," Coulter said, an olive branch extended in his attempt to break away from the Web of lies they had started with. She broke into a smile. "You don't have to explain."Coulter fell silent, then slowly pushed forward, his hand reaching out to hers. Coulter's eyes came to a slow close as his fingers gently came to hover right above Amelia's face, then slowly settled on her jaw. Almost reluctantly, he leaned away, his eyes opening to meet hers, his eyes darting across both of hers."I am sorry," he whispered, his fingers running up and down her face. "This is not about trust, Amelia. This...""Is it because of her? Are you so secretive because she taught you to be?""Amelia...""Are you ready to let it go?" She asked, her voice low, her eyes almost misty. "Are you ready to let her go?""I have, Amelia. I have no love left for Melissa. I haven't ever since the fact. But I am also not ready to...""To tell me who you really are."He bit down on his lips, then met her eyes. "I will understand fully if this is something you don't want to live with. But this is not the time for me to hold your hand and show you the world I live within. I hope you understand, Amelia."He watched the expressions flicker in her face in fast succession. H
