Madam Gabriella crossed her legs over each other as she brought the steamy cup of Earl Grey tea to her lips, stopping for a minute to take in its expensive scent.
"You are truly blessed, Madam Gabriella," one of her friends said, dropping her scone. "You really hit the jackpot with your daughter." Madam Gabriella only smiled. Of course, she had vowed to show them. Her daughter was better than all their children, and no display of wealth and affluence was better than this. She sipped her tea slowly, her mind reeling with the events of yesterday. Her new son-in-law, Caleb had prepared that beautiful banquet just for Melissa, and had even gone out of his way to book the luxurious Sun hotel for the event. Everyone knew the Sun Hotel. It was made for the elites, the sort of hotel that without Caleb, even Madam Gabriella wouldn't be able to have access to. "Truly," one of the other friends chimed in, looking around the state-of-the-art banquet hall. "It is truly beautiful in here, like paradise. And do you know," she leaned forward, causing the others to lean towards her too. "Just the regular rooms cost almost ten thousand a night!" Madam Gabriella snickered, finding this to be the perfect time to chime in. "And I am staying in the presidential suite." The gasps echoed around the table, and Madam Gabriella let them reel in the thoughts of the cost of the room. "My son could never afford something so glamorous!" "Me too," another supported, shaking her head a little sadly. "Oh please," Madam Gabriella said. "They are very hardworking. This is all thanks to my new son-in-law, Caleb." The atmosphere in the table immediately changed. "Oh now, I want to hear about this new son-in-law. Did Melissa finally get rid of that dead weight?" "I mean," one said, pushing her hair up. "He was always a let down. It is unheard of for a man to handle cleaning and laundry while his woman makes the money." "Surely, Melissa would accept this new man? He seems deserving of her especially if this is how he treats his soon to be mother-in-law." Madam Gabriella finally set her cup down. "Of course. She had learned her lesson from the last. In fact, Caleb had already bought the marital home, right upstairs. You can come with me, and I will show you." The women immediately gathered behind Madam Gabriella, following her like flies as she made her way upstairs. The grandeur of the hotel only made the woman even more astounded, and with each new thing, more praises flowed for Caleb. On the other hand, Coulter slowly put in the pass code, then waited for the familiar chime. It soon came, and he turned to Amelia who was standing behind him, her eyes big, her stance a little sheepish. "Come with me," he said gently, then pushed the door open and walked in, urging her to follow him in. Amelia slowly followed him in, and her mouth dropped open. The penthouse was astounding, and covered in modern, minimalist colours and furniture. The windows covered an entire wall and offered an astonishing view of the city. It was the perfect place. "But this..." Amelia slowly said , a bit of doubt creeping into her mind. "Is this not a bit too much for someome like me who can't even repay you?" Coulter gave a small shrug. "Please accept it from me, CEO." Her eyes met his, and he gave a small chuckle. "Actually, I have always wanted to invest in NS Corp. Your business style and resilience was truly outstanding, but for a long time, I couldn't get a share. You could accept this grom me as a part investment, and if you promise me a share of NS Corp, I will definitely invest the rest when the company is back up." Amelia bit down on her lips, tears stinging the back of her eyes. She had been exposed to the harsher sides of reality when her company went bankrupt. With no one on her side, and no one willing to help, Coulter felt almost like a blessing. Hell, he was a blessing that found her at the right time. She gave a small nod, then sniffed hard in an attempt to stop the tears. "I promise." Coulter smiled, then looked around. "I will take my leave so..." "I shall see you out." Coulter nodded, and he walked out first, letting her lock the door behind her. "It has keys and a passcode," Coulter said, pulling out a key from his front pocket. He handed it to Amelia who accepted it gratefully, her fingers immediately wrapping around the key. "The passcode is 805912. You can use either one." "Thank you very much." Once they got to the elevator, Coulter stopped, his eyes falling on Amelia. "You can call me if you need anything. Be sure to do that." "I will, definitely." Coulter smiled, then turned to the elevator, just as the doors opened, and he came face to face with Madam Gabriella and her friends. Coulter sucked in a sharp breath, the memory of Madam Gabriella's condescending attitude towards him, and her daughter's cheating, everything seemed to rush back to him in that moment. "Is that not..." one of the friends from behind laughed mockingly, and the whispers ensued behind them. Madam Gabriella swallowed, her eyes squinting as she took him in up and down, her brows furrowed lightly. "What are you doing here?"Latest Chapter

"Damn you, Coulter!" Melissa screamed as she picked herself off the floor, her chest heaving. "Damn you all!"She opened her mouth to scream more curses when her phone started to ring. She let out an exasperated scream before answering the call."What?!""This is the police station. Do you know Mrs. Gabriella Martinez?"Melissa swallowed. "She is my mother. What's wrong?""Your mother is in our holding cell, and you can come bail her at the main city branch."The call quenched, and Melissa slowly turned to Caleb."What's wrong? What happened, Melissa?""My mum. It's the police. I need to bail her." She raked her fingers through her hair, her lips parting. She turned to Caleb again. "Please come with me."He immediately agreed and then led her to his car.Madam Gabriella sat on the floor in the holding cell. Her clothes were rough, her hair even worse, and none of her socialite friends looked any better."Officer?" She said once a policeman walked by. She immediately stood up, dusting

"What?" Was the common word amongst the crowd, as they turned to each other, murmurs rising within the crowd as their eyes darted between Melissa and Amelia."What?" Melissa asked, walking forward, her eyes wide with panic and fear. "Is this a joke? Is there some sort of mistake?! This... that's not what was announced at yesterday's press conference. I haven't received a notice about my company's listing being terminated!"Melissa had barely finished talking when her phone buzzed with a message. She managed to tear her gaze off of Ian and turned to her phone to check the message. To her utmost horror, it was indeed the notice of her company’s IPO being halted due to suspected violations. Her face turned white as all blood drained from it, and she brought the phone closer to make sure she was seeing it correctly.Sure enough, it was real. Not only was she suspected of violating the rules, she was also required to submit relevant evidence within the next three days, or she would stand

Amelia immediately stepped away, her eyes wide. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and her fingers lightly nipped at each other as her anxiety grew. She wasn't even sure why Coulter had brought them here, and even worse, she wasn't sure they actually had passes. She looked around. All of the people she used to be at the top with were staring at her while she was at her lowest now, and she just wished the ground would open up and swallow her."Let's go," she whispered to Coulter as she tugged lightly at his sleeve, her eyes falling away from the crowd around them to avoid the judgemental stares. To her surprise, Coulter's hand wrapped around her hand. It was warm, reassuring, and she looked up to him, her brows slightly furrowed. He was calm and collected, and for some reason, she felt her anxiety calm a little."Show me your passes," the security guard said, stretching his hand out to Coulter."I don't have one," Coulter admitted, unfazed. "I am not the sort of person who needs a

The exit doors opened, and Amelia promptly followed Coulter to the parked car, her hands clasped in front of her, her brows lightly furrowed. She stood there, her posture tense with uncertainty. Was she supposed to go back up? Or was there something else? She was never supposed to come down with him anyway."Hello?" Coulter said, bringing his phone to his ear, his brows slightly furrowed. Amelia waited. He wasn't saying much, just nodding to the other person. After a minute, he suddenly turned to her and gestured towards the car."What?" She mouthed, her brows rising."Get in, Amelia."Her lips parted, but she immediately nodded and entered the open door. Coulter closed the door, and she watched as he continued to talk on the phone before finally coming around to the driver's seat.Amelia bit down on her lips as Coulter started the car, then pulled out of the hotel's driveway. "Where are we going?" Amelia asked, her voice low.Coulter said nothing, his eyes focused on the road ahead

Coulter raised a brow, his teeth slightly clenching. Not only was this woman a representative of so many bad things, but he was sure he absolutely didn't want anything to do with her, especially right now."Good to see you," he said in his usual polite ways. "I was just about to leave. I had some business to attend to."With a slight nod to Amelia, he started to make his way into the elevator, expecting that Madam Gabriella and her friends would go off. Before he could walk past her, however, Madam Gabriella swiftly moved to block his way, herbjands going to her waist."Stop right there," she said, her eyes wide, her tone still the same condescending tone she used back when he was in the house, serving her scones. "Did I give you permission to leave?"Coulter could feel his annoyance rising at the thought of being spoken to like that, especially in a neutral environment."Why do I need your permission, Madam Gabriella?" He asked, his voice low. "I have already settled the divorce with
