Madam Gabriella crossed her legs over each other as she brought the steamy cup of Earl Grey tea to her lips, stopping for a minute to take in its expensive scent.

"You are truly blessed, Madam Gabriella," one of her friends said, dropping her scone. "You really hit the jackpot with your daughter."

Madam Gabriella only smiled. Of course, she had vowed to show them. Her daughter was better than all their children, and no display of wealth and affluence was better than this.

She sipped her tea slowly, her mind reeling with the events of yesterday. Her new son-in-law, Caleb had prepared that beautiful banquet just for Melissa, and had even gone out of his way to book the luxurious Sun hotel for the event.

Everyone knew the Sun Hotel. It was made for the elites, the sort of hotel that without Caleb, even Madam Gabriella wouldn't be able to have access to.

"Truly," one of the other friends chimed in, looking around the state-of-the-art banquet hall. "It is truly beautiful in here, like paradise. And do you know," she leaned forward, causing the others to lean towards her too. "Just the regular rooms cost almost ten thousand a night!"

Madam Gabriella snickered, finding this to be the perfect time to chime in. "And I am staying in the presidential suite."

The gasps echoed around the table, and Madam Gabriella let them reel in the thoughts of the cost of the room.

"My son could never afford something so glamorous!"

"Me too," another supported, shaking her head a little sadly.

"Oh please," Madam Gabriella said. "They are very hardworking. This is all thanks to my new son-in-law, Caleb."

The atmosphere in the table immediately changed.

"Oh now, I want to hear about this new son-in-law. Did Melissa finally get rid of that dead weight?"

"I mean," one said, pushing her hair up. "He was always a let down. It is unheard of for a man to handle cleaning and laundry while his woman makes the money."

"Surely, Melissa would accept this new man? He seems deserving of her especially if this is how he treats his soon to be mother-in-law."

Madam Gabriella finally set her cup down. "Of course. She had learned her lesson from the last. In fact, Caleb had already bought the marital home, right upstairs. You can come with me, and I will show you."

The women immediately gathered behind Madam Gabriella, following her like flies as she made her way upstairs. The grandeur of the hotel only made the woman even more astounded, and with each new thing, more praises flowed for Caleb.

On the other hand, Coulter slowly put in the pass code, then waited for the familiar chime. It soon came, and he turned to Amelia who was standing behind him, her eyes big, her stance a little sheepish.

"Come with me," he said gently, then pushed the door open and walked in, urging her to follow him in.

Amelia slowly followed him in, and her mouth dropped open. The penthouse was astounding, and covered in modern, minimalist colours and furniture. The windows covered an entire wall and offered an astonishing view of the city. It was the perfect place.

"But this..." Amelia slowly said , a bit of doubt creeping into her mind. "Is this not a bit too much for someome like me who can't even repay you?"

Coulter gave a small shrug. "Please accept it from me, CEO."

Her eyes met his, and he gave a small chuckle. "Actually, I have always wanted to invest in NS Corp. Your business style and resilience was truly outstanding, but for a long time, I couldn't get a share. You could accept this grom me as a part investment, and if you promise me a share of NS Corp, I will definitely invest the rest when the company is back up."

Amelia bit down on her lips, tears stinging the back of her eyes. She had been exposed to the harsher sides of reality when her company went bankrupt. With no one on her side, and no one willing to help, Coulter felt almost like a blessing. Hell, he was a blessing that found her at the right time.

She gave a small nod, then sniffed hard in an attempt to stop the tears.

"I promise."

Coulter smiled, then looked around. "I will take my leave so..."

"I shall see you out."

Coulter nodded, and he walked out first, letting her lock the door behind her.

"It has keys and a passcode," Coulter said, pulling out a key from his front pocket.

He handed it to Amelia who accepted it gratefully, her fingers immediately wrapping around the key.

"The passcode is 805912. You can use either one."

"Thank you very much."

Once they got to the elevator, Coulter stopped, his eyes falling on Amelia. "You can call me if you need anything. Be sure to do that."

"I will, definitely."

Coulter smiled, then turned to the elevator, just as the doors opened, and he came face to face with Madam Gabriella and her friends.

Coulter sucked in a sharp breath, the memory of Madam Gabriella's condescending attitude towards him, and her daughter's cheating, everything seemed to rush back to him in that moment.

"Is that not..." one of the friends from behind laughed mockingly, and the whispers ensued behind them.

Madam Gabriella swallowed, her eyes squinting as she took him in up and down, her brows furrowed lightly.

"What are you doing here?"

Sarah went downstairs, and without a word, say down at the tail end of the table, instead of sitting close to the other duo on the other side.Melissa turned to Madam Gabriella with a knowing smirk, and the older woman simply smiled and said nothing. The house help came forward and set an empty plate in front of Sarah."What would you like, ma'am?"Sarah looked around the table and Melissa and Madam Gabriella's plates. They were all having salmon, and the salmon dish had one last piece that they seemed to be hoarding."The salmon, please."Madam Gabriella raised a brow but held her horses until the house help walked up to where the dish was."Wait," Madam Gabriella said, then reached to the dish, took out the last piece, and broke it in half in her plate. Coulter led the way to the elevator, and Sarah grabbed his hand tight, her smile small and truimphant as the elevator doors closed on them."All of this is so fancy," she said, chuckling a little. "My poor feet will be free of those stairs."Coulter smiled to himself, his fingers flexing against hers. Her grip was so tight that she was crushing his fingers, as if she was scared that he would leave. The elevator finally opened at the top floor, and she sucked in a sharp breath, her fingers tightening around Coulter's much warmer, stable hand. Coulter walked forward, leading the way to the large double door entrance of the penthouse. He turned to her and gave her a small smile, as if he could read the slight nervousness she felt. It wasn't nervousness in the sense that she thought the mother and daughter duo would be able to do anything to her.It was nervousness in the sense that she couldn't wait to see the reactions on their faces when Coulter walked in here and ordered all of the

Sarah clocked out as early as she could. She wasn't even supposed to come into work since she had already asked for permission from Amelia, but she had decided against using it so Coulter could hopefully come and get her from the office.Maybe it was a little crazy and even more dangerous, but she barely cared about that. What she cared about, however, was the fact that she had gotten her mood completely ruined by coming into the office, turned herself into the company pariah, and now she was standing in the underground garage, staring at the absolute beast of a car that Amelia now drove, while realizing that Coulter had never given her his number. It was like she was getting tag teamed by all the problems before she even had time to solve any, and she absolutely hated how shitty it all made her feel."Waiting for someone?" Sarah turned swiftly. Amelia was standing behind her, her smile small as she took in Sarah. She had seen her leave early, even though most of Amelia's work had b

  • Chapter 178

Amelia watched the scene unfold from the tablet on her desk, her smile small. Coulter was scarily good at the things he was doing, with the way he gave Melissa such little things that are enough to keep her on a leash, while making sure that she would never be able to believably compare to Amelia whenever she tries.Amelia leaned back on her seat, then pulled out her phone and texted Coulter with the video attached. He read it immediately and started to type.Amelia watched the bubbles, the smile still plastered on her face."You should give the girl in glasses a raise," Coulter texted back, along with a laughing emoji.Amelia broke into a laugh. "I agree," she texted back, then kept the phone back, a sigh leaving her lips. How incredibly pathetic. Sarah leaned over the bathroom sink, her chest heaving as she gripped the edges. The water was running, but she was too carried away to notice or care. The blood on her hand soiled the white bowl, and she closed her eyes.Coulter belonged

She had gotten home and relived every secret look that she and Coulter had shared right in the presence of Amelia, and nothing has ever felt better than it.At some point, she wondered if it would feel as nice if he was completely hers, compared to this beautiful game where she has him fully in secret and Amelia is left with nothing but suspicions. She dressed for the office in one of her more flashy dresses, hoping that Coulter would stop by once more. She couldn't wait to arch over in front of him and show jim just how flexible she is, right in front of the woman who thinks she has all of him. With a small sigh, she checked her files.
