Madam Gabriella crossed her legs over each other as she brought the steamy cup of Earl Grey tea to her lips, stopping for a minute to take in its expensive scent.

"You are truly blessed, Madam Gabriella," one of her friends said, dropping her scone. "You really hit the jackpot with your daughter."

Madam Gabriella only smiled. Of course, she had vowed to show them. Her daughter was better than all their children, and no display of wealth and affluence was better than this.

She sipped her tea slowly, her mind reeling with the events of yesterday. Her new son-in-law, Caleb had prepared that beautiful banquet just for Melissa, and had even gone out of his way to book the luxurious Sun hotel for the event.

Everyone knew the Sun Hotel. It was made for the elites, the sort of hotel that without Caleb, even Madam Gabriella wouldn't be able to have access to.

"Truly," one of the other friends chimed in, looking around the state-of-the-art banquet hall. "It is truly beautiful in here, like paradise. And do you know," she leaned forward, causing the others to lean towards her too. "Just the regular rooms cost almost ten thousand a night!"

Madam Gabriella snickered, finding this to be the perfect time to chime in. "And I am staying in the presidential suite."

The gasps echoed around the table, and Madam Gabriella let them reel in the thoughts of the cost of the room.

"My son could never afford something so glamorous!"

"Me too," another supported, shaking her head a little sadly.

"Oh please," Madam Gabriella said. "They are very hardworking. This is all thanks to my new son-in-law, Caleb."

The atmosphere in the table immediately changed.

"Oh now, I want to hear about this new son-in-law. Did Melissa finally get rid of that dead weight?"

"I mean," one said, pushing her hair up. "He was always a let down. It is unheard of for a man to handle cleaning and laundry while his woman makes the money."

"Surely, Melissa would accept this new man? He seems deserving of her especially if this is how he treats his soon to be mother-in-law."

Madam Gabriella finally set her cup down. "Of course. She had learned her lesson from the last. In fact, Caleb had already bought the marital home, right upstairs. You can come with me, and I will show you."

The women immediately gathered behind Madam Gabriella, following her like flies as she made her way upstairs. The grandeur of the hotel only made the woman even more astounded, and with each new thing, more praises flowed for Caleb.

On the other hand, Coulter slowly put in the pass code, then waited for the familiar chime. It soon came, and he turned to Amelia who was standing behind him, her eyes big, her stance a little sheepish.

"Come with me," he said gently, then pushed the door open and walked in, urging her to follow him in.

Amelia slowly followed him in, and her mouth dropped open. The penthouse was astounding, and covered in modern, minimalist colours and furniture. The windows covered an entire wall and offered an astonishing view of the city. It was the perfect place.

"But this..." Amelia slowly said , a bit of doubt creeping into her mind. "Is this not a bit too much for someome like me who can't even repay you?"

Coulter gave a small shrug. "Please accept it from me, CEO."

Her eyes met his, and he gave a small chuckle. "Actually, I have always wanted to invest in NS Corp. Your business style and resilience was truly outstanding, but for a long time, I couldn't get a share. You could accept this grom me as a part investment, and if you promise me a share of NS Corp, I will definitely invest the rest when the company is back up."

Amelia bit down on her lips, tears stinging the back of her eyes. She had been exposed to the harsher sides of reality when her company went bankrupt. With no one on her side, and no one willing to help, Coulter felt almost like a blessing. Hell, he was a blessing that found her at the right time.

She gave a small nod, then sniffed hard in an attempt to stop the tears.

"I promise."

Coulter smiled, then looked around. "I will take my leave so..."

"I shall see you out."

Coulter nodded, and he walked out first, letting her lock the door behind her.

"It has keys and a passcode," Coulter said, pulling out a key from his front pocket.

He handed it to Amelia who accepted it gratefully, her fingers immediately wrapping around the key.

"The passcode is 805912. You can use either one."

"Thank you very much."

Once they got to the elevator, Coulter stopped, his eyes falling on Amelia. "You can call me if you need anything. Be sure to do that."

"I will, definitely."

Coulter smiled, then turned to the elevator, just as the doors opened, and he came face to face with Madam Gabriella and her friends.

Coulter sucked in a sharp breath, the memory of Madam Gabriella's condescending attitude towards him, and her daughter's cheating, everything seemed to rush back to him in that moment.

"Is that not..." one of the friends from behind laughed mockingly, and the whispers ensued behind them.

Madam Gabriella swallowed, her eyes squinting as she took him in up and down, her brows furrowed lightly.

"What are you doing here?"

The guests walked away, leaving Melissa, the still yelling guard, now picking up the pieces of his phone, Madam Gabriella trying and failing to hide away from the chaos, Caleb who was still tripping over his words, Ian who was barely holding back laughter, and Amelia and Coulter who were standing close to the door, a drink in Amelia's hand as if the party was still on.Melissa looked up to the guard and then Caleb, and she slowly covered the distance to them. "Melissa, please. Please don't believe him. You know my family. You know how much money we have. This villa is nothing. You know that. Right? You are not going to let this man who obviously has some sinister motives to come between us, right? Please, Melissa. You have to trust me."Melissa looked at him for a long minute, her chest rising and falling rapidly as the anger and humiliation seemed to calcify. She slowly turned to the guard, her eyes widening with fury."How dare you!" She screamed, slapping the guard so hard that he

Melissa sounds around so fast that her heel caught in the hem of her dress, and she stumbled forward ungracefully, her fingers reaching for the nearest support to stop her from falling. The nearest support happened to be a rushing, disorganized waiter still carrying cold drinks for the guests who were far too invested in the drama to even care about the drinks. She grabbed his suit hard, and the man stumbled forward, the drinks tipping off the delicate tray they had been arranged on. For a long moment, the glasses swirled dangerously close to the edge. Just as Melissa started to straighten, the glasses finally tipped straight unto Melissa's hair and dress, a mix of red and white and a green coloured drink that smelled like mint. The drops soaked straight into her dress, changing the colour to a sickly mix of green and white against red, and the drinks soaked straight to her feet.Melissa let out a long shriek of horror, and Caleb immediately ran towards Melissa, grabbing her before sh

"What the fuck are you doing here?!" Caleb yelled, walking forward, his chest heaving. His eyes darted to the guard, who was still bouncing on his feet, beads of perspiration coming together on his forehead. "We were invited," Amelia said slowly, her eyes thin as she let them dart towards Melissa behind Caleb.Melissa was pale, her eyes wide, her fingers clenching into fists. The entire party had stopped whatever they were doing. Even the music had stopped. "Congratulations," Coulter said, his eyes darting across both Caleb and Melissa's eyes. Melissa slowly walked forward, her chest heaving hard with barely contained fury."Oh, how nice of you to join us!" Her voice was sickly sweet, her eyes thin, betraying the lightness she tried to convey. "I understand the tardiness. It must have been such a hassle to look through thrift places in order to find something half decent.""I don't think that is why we are here," Coulter said, stopping in front of Amelia. "If you are only going to

The villa was a glittering castle by the time disk fell, and cars started to line up outside the villa. The guard was ushering people in, and Caleb, dressed in the impeccable, rented suit, stayed outside with him, under the guise of welcoming guests, but was really just making sure the man wouldn't pull some stupid stunt during the party."You are sure everything is okay, right?""Be rest assured, boss," the guard said, waving in yet another fleet of cars, with the occupants nodding towards Caleb, who smiled at them and raised his glass of red wine. "Your party will go smoothly. I will make sure of that."Caleb nodded slowly, then adjusted his tie. Melissa and Madam Gabriella were already on their way, fashionably late, because they wanted to make sure that Melissa's entrance would be unforgettable.Melissa took in her reflection in the car's rear view mirror one last time as the villa came into view. She looked impeccable, her dress a dark red silk gown that caught the light and her

The private jet touched down the private air field by eleven a.m. Coulter and Amelia were now sitting in the main space, across from each other. "We are here," Coulter said, his voice low, his eyes meeting Amelia. For a split second, his eyes darted down to her kiss swollen lips, and the fresh hickey blooming on the edge of her collarbone. He broke into a small, knowing smile, then turned away."That was.. probably the craziest thing I have ever done," Amelia said, laughing, her eyes holding Coulter's. "Is it?"The plane came to a final stop, and Coulter stood up, then leaned down to Amelia's seat, gently taking off the belt. He held out his hand, and she took it."By a far mile. The second would be running away from home."Coulter's brow raised. "Oh? The prim and proper Amelia ran away from home?"She broke into a laugh. "Is it that hard to believe?""Well, yes. You look like you have never had to experience the streets.""Well, I built NS Corp from the ground up.""I know that.

Melissa went through the final arrangements approximately seven hours before the party, then left the villa for the working hands to get ready. She had to get ready too. Makeup, stylists, and everything else. The penthouse was quiet when they got back, almost like it knew they would be leaving it soon. "I am going to take a shower," Melissa said, turning to Caleb who was still sweating. No one bothered to ask why he looked like he had seen a ghost. He also couldn't tell. Earlier, while they were at the villa, the guard had pulled his aside, then explained that the villa's owner us starting to express mild interest in returning to the country. Caleb had immediately paled. He barely had an explanation to feed Melissa by the time she realized he wasn't working her IPO with the five hundred thousand dollars she gave him, and now he would also have to come up with a reason why they could no longer stay at the villa after he had paid so much to buy it and then even done a housewarming.
