The exit doors opened, and Amelia promptly followed Coulter to the parked car, her hands clasped in front of her, her brows lightly furrowed.

She stood there, her posture tense with uncertainty. Was she supposed to go back up? Or was there something else? She was never supposed to come down with him anyway.

"Hello?" Coulter said, bringing his phone to his ear, his brows slightly furrowed.

Amelia waited. He wasn't saying much, just nodding to the other person. After a minute, he suddenly turned to her and gestured towards the car.

"What?" She mouthed, her brows rising.

"Get in, Amelia."

Her lips parted, but she immediately nodded and entered the open door. Coulter closed the door, and she watched as he continued to talk on the phone before finally coming around to the driver's seat.

Amelia bit down on her lips as Coulter started the car, then pulled out of the hotel's driveway.

"Where are we going?" Amelia asked, her voice low.

Coulter said nothing, his eyes focused on the road ahead, his hands tightening around the steering wheel.

Amelia sat back, her chest slightly heaving as she forced herself to look away from him. The car ride was silent, tense, and abruptly cut short when Coulter suddenly stopped in front of the massive city banquet hall.

"Get out," Coulter said, turning to Amelia.

She nodded, her confusion growing as she took one look at the banquet hall yet again. She slowly got out of the car, and Coulter followed, leading her into the banquet hall.

They had barely entered the large hall when they nearly bumped into Melissa, who was with Caleb.

She was undeniably the star of the day, and she was dressed the part. The people who had gathered to witness the event were all flocking around her like bees, sending praises and compliments her way.

Melissa stopped, her brows raised as she took in Coulter and Amelia.

The event seemed to stop once she did, and all the attention fell on Coulter and Amelia, who had caused her to stop in the first place.

"Is that not the bankrupt CEO of NS Corp?" Someome whispered, gesturing at Amelia.

Amelia swallowed hard, her fingers clenching into tight fists as she turned away.

Melissa heard it too, and she broke into a snort, then grabbed a champagne glass from a passing waiter.

She tapped the glass with her keys, drawing attention back to herself.

"Can you please give me some space? I have some private matters to deal with."

The crowd that had converged immediately parted, allowing her to move forward.

"Should I excuse you, Melissa?" Caleb asked, sneaking a glance towards Coulter.

"Oh please, Caleb," she said, linking her arm around his. "You are far too gentle for this world. You are already one of my own, so please, stay.."

Coulter's eyes dropped to their linked arms, and his expression hardened to pure ice.

"Do you have something to say?" He asked, his voice cold. "I have business to attend to."

Melissa laughed, covering her mouth slightly. "Oh, nothing much. I just wanted to inform you myself that I have signed the divorce papers. What do you intend to do with all the junk you left behind in my house?"

"You can handle those, Melissa. I have no use for anything that comes from you."

All humour dropped from Melissa's eyes, and she straightened. "Oh, Coulter. We both know your financial situation. You are going to be homeless now that I am no longer tbere to out a roof over your head. It would do well for you if you just go and pick those, and try to sell them. They are all brand names, anyway, and they might keep you away from the streets for a few more weeks."

Caleb gave a small snicker. "Your pride isn't worth much, Coulter. Certainly not enough to keep you alive. Your priority right now should be the source of your next meal."

"You are so kind, Caleb," Melissa said, her eyes falling on Coulter yet again. "If you are smart, you will take what I am giving you while I am still being generous, Coulter. Once I withdraw my generosity, even your tears wouldn't have shelter."

She broke into a laugh, and Caleb joined her, like it was some sort of stand up comedy.

"That is enough," Amelia said, having had enough of the constant taints. Who even are these people who keep our torturing such a good man? "Stop trying to humiliate him. Who even uses another person's belongings to settle a divorce? If you really are worried about his livelihood, why don't you offer him money? I fear you might not be as magnanimous as you try to paint yourself!"

Melissa's eyes widened as she turned to Amelia. "Who the hell do you think you are? You come here, trying to lecture me when you weren't even competent enough to keep your company from bankruptcy?" She laughed, gesturing at Amelia. "Or, did you come for free dood and drinks? Seems typical, seeing how you are walking around with a chronic leech."

Before anyone could say a word, Melissa turned, waving towards the security.

The security rushed down towards her. "Yes, ma'am."

"Check them for a valid pass. This place isn't for beggars, and I know they are trying to sneak their way in for leftovers. Check them now!"

The guests walked away, leaving Melissa, the still yelling guard, now picking up the pieces of his phone, Madam Gabriella trying and failing to hide away from the chaos, Caleb who was still tripping over his words, Ian who was barely holding back laughter, and Amelia and Coulter who were standing close to the door, a drink in Amelia's hand as if the party was still on.Melissa looked up to the guard and then Caleb, and she slowly covered the distance to them. "Melissa, please. Please don't believe him. You know my family. You know how much money we have. This villa is nothing. You know that. Right? You are not going to let this man who obviously has some sinister motives to come between us, right? Please, Melissa. You have to trust me."Melissa looked at him for a long minute, her chest rising and falling rapidly as the anger and humiliation seemed to calcify. She slowly turned to the guard, her eyes widening with fury."How dare you!" Melissa sounds around so fast that her heel caught in the hem of her dress, and she stumbled forward ungracefully, her fingers reaching for the nearest support to stop her from falling. The nearest support happened to be a rushing, disorganized waiter still carrying cold drinks for the guests who were far too invested in the drama to even care about the drinks. She grabbed his suit hard, and the man stumbled forward, the drinks tipping off the delicate tray they had been arranged on. For a long moment, the glasses swirled dangerously close to the edge. Just as Melissa started to straighten, the glasses finally tipped straight unto Melissa's hair and dress, a mix of red and white and a green coloured drink that smelled like mint. The drops soaked straight into her dress, changing the colour to a sickly mix of green and white against red, and the drinks soaked straight to her feet.Melissa let out a long shriek of horror, and Caleb immediately ran towards Melissa, grabbing her before sh

"What the fuck are you doing here?!" Caleb yelled, walking forward, his chest heaving. Even the music had stopped. "Congratulations," Coulter said, his eyes darting across both Caleb and Melissa's eyes. Melissa slowly walked forward, her chest heaving hard with barely contained fury."Oh, how nice of you to join us!" Her voice was sickly sweet, her eyes thin, betraying the lightness she tried to convey. "I understand the tardiness. It must have been such a hassle to look through thrift places in order to find something half decent.""I don't think that is why we are here," Coulter said, stopping in front of Amelia. "If you are only going to

The villa was a glittering castle by the time disk fell, and cars started to line up outside the villa. The guard was ushering people in, and Caleb, dressed in the impeccable, rented suit, stayed outside with him, under the guise of welcoming guests, but was really just making sure the man wouldn't pull some stupid stunt during the party."You are sure everything is okay, right?""Be rest assured, boss," the guard said, waving in yet another fleet of cars, with the occupants nodding towards Caleb, who smiled at them and raised his glass of red wine. "Your party will go smoothly. I will make sure of that."Caleb nodded slowly, then adjusted his tie. The private jet touched down the private air field by eleven a.m. Coulter and Amelia were now sitting in the main space, across from each other. "We are here," Coulter said, his voice low, his eyes meeting Amelia. For a split second, his eyes darted down to her kiss swollen lips, and the fresh hickey blooming on the edge of her collarbone. He broke into a small, knowing smile, then turned away."That was.. probably the craziest thing I have ever done," Amelia said, laughing, her eyes holding Coulter's. "Is it?"The plane came to a final stop, and Coulter stood up, then leaned down to Amelia's seat, gently taking off the belt. He held out his hand, and she took it."By a far mile. The second would be running away from home."Coulter's brow raised. "Oh? The prim and proper Amelia ran away from home?"She broke into a laugh. "Is it that hard to believe?""Well, yes. You look like you have never had to experience the streets.""Well, I built NS Corp from the ground up.""I know that.

"I am going to take a shower," Melissa said, turning to Caleb who was still sweating. No one bothered to ask why he looked like he had seen a ghost. He also couldn't tell.
