Anna filled another glass of wine and said, "To be honest, you're still far behind Emily at present."
Albert admitted it frankly. How outstanding Emily was! The Nouhurst Advanced Academy had even put aside its pride to give her a special recruitment. Such an honor was probably something that even the imperial family of the Nouhurst Empire didn't possess.
"I won't fall too far behind," Albert said as he raised his wine glass.
Anna smiled and said, "It seems you have feelings for Emily?"
"The excellence of Emily goes without saying. If I said I had no feelings for her, I'm afraid even you would say I was being hypocritical," Albert said earnestly.
He and Emily had been childhood sweethearts for so many years. The emotions between them were already complicated. Coupled with that engagement contract, in Albert's view, there was already a deep bond between them. Albert believed that not only he himself, but even someone with Emily's personality couldn't treat him as an ordinary person. In their usual interactions, Albert could still sense this.
"At least you're honest," said Anna.
She downed another glass of strong liquor in one gulp, nodded, and then smiled meaningfully. "However, if you really have such intentions, you've got a long way to go. Right now, you're just in the city of Navia. Only when you go to the Nouhurst Advanced Academy one day will you realize how terrifying your competitors are."
Albert picked up his glass and also drank it all in one go. Then, after thinking for a while, he said, "But... I'm Emily's fiancé."
He paused for a moment and then smiled. "And if they really want to do something to me, Emily will protect me. I think at that time, it'll be them who will feel uncomfortable."
Anna's beautiful eyes widened a bit. She stared at Albert and said, "Aren't you hiding behind a woman?"
Albert argued righteously, "Is there anything wrong with a fiancée protecting her fiancé?"
Anna was left speechless and then couldn't help saying, "This... is really cunning."
Then she couldn't help laughing out loud because with Emily's personality, she might really do such a thing. And in that case, it would be a double blow to those people both physically and mentally.
Albert smiled and filled her glass with wine. The two of them kept drinking back and forth. In the end, when Albert started to feel dizzy, he finally noticed that Anna was lying on the table.
Albert heaved a sigh of relief. He shook Anna and found that she didn't respond at all. He couldn't help feeling a bit speechless.
Finally, he picked Anna up and was about to walk out of the tavern. Envious looks were cast from all around.
However, Albert didn't have those dirty thoughts like the others. After walking out of the tavern, he called over the carriage that was waiting nearby. A maid climbed out of the carriage.
This was arranged by Anna when she came. It seemed that she had known long ago that she would definitely get drunk from drinking.
Albert carried Anna into the carriage and then told the maid to send Anna home. The maid replied respectfully and finally drove the carriage away.
Standing on the street and thinking about the conversation with Anna today, Albert smiled slightly.
Although he didn't mind being protected by Emily, he couldn't let Emily lose face either.
In the carriage in the distance, Anna, who was supposed to be dead drunk, opened her eyes and said to herself, "Not too bad. He didn't take advantage of me. I'll tell Emily later that although her little fiancé isn't that powerful, I still quite approve of him."
The next day, when Albert got up, his head was still a bit aching. He felt rather helpless. It seemed that he should refuse to drink with Anna in the future.
After washing up and coming to the front hall, he saw the voluptuous Sister Cherry waiting for him to have breakfast. Albert smiled apologetically.
Cherry served him a bowl of plain porridge and said, "Did you drink with Anna yesterday?"
"Yes. I didn't expect that Anna could drink so quickly," Albert said.
Cherry complained, "You're still a child. How could Anna take you to drink?"
Hearing this, Albert said with dissatisfaction, "Sister Cherry, you're just a bit older than me. You're acting like my mother."
Cherry rolled her eyes and said, "I know what happened in the Soul Liquid House yesterday. Well done. You're able to help out now."
"I've been selling off the useless assets of the Martin family these days. I sold them at a low price to the Green family and the Mill family. I heard that the Gunter family even talked to the two families, but it seemed to be of no use. Although this can't make the families split up for now, it can make it difficult for them to reach a consensus when dealing with the Martin family."
"Now we have more funds. The five-star soul liquid you asked for will arrive one after another in the next two days."
Albert said happily, "Sister Cherry, you're so nice. Unlike Sister Anna, who can't hold her liquor but still likes to drink a lot."
Cherry asked with some confusion, "Can't Anna drink?"
Albert nodded and said, "She was dead drunk last night. I had to ask someone to send her home."
Cherry burst out laughing and said, "My silly young master, Anna is known as someone who can never get drunk."
Albert was stunned.
Cherry said, "Did you have any improper thoughts? Otherwise, you'd be in big trouble."
Albert thought back and it seemed that he hadn't done anything out of line. However, he realized that he had been tricked by Anna.
Albert put down his bowl and turned around to run. He was filled with grief and indignation in his heart. The sisters' tricks were too deep! Cherry's laughter came from behind him.

Chapter 1346
The group brightened at the obvious effect and intensified their assaults. Yet their amplified offensive pressed heavy strain onto Euphemia inside the hall. She was pulled in multiple directions at once: draining the nascent True Demon Egg from Albert, fending off the Blood Coffin Bearer, and now enduring the combined attacks from Ida and her companions.Heavy footsteps echoed faintly from beyond the hall walls. A ruthless glint flashed beneath Euphemia’s lowered eyes. She focused her mind and awakened a primal power slumbering deep within her body. The next instant, blackish-green serpent scales surfaced across her fair skin. A sharp horn of the same dark emerald hue slowly pierced through the flesh on her smooth forehead and protruded outward. An otherworldly, fiendish aura now clung thickly to Euphemia. She struggled desperately to buy time, striving to completely neutralize the True Demon Egg inside Albert’s left arm before the Blood Coffin Bearer broke through.Time slipped away
Chapter 1345
Though Ida and the others landed blows across his body, carving hideous gashes into his flesh, writhing tissue knit those wounds shut in the blink of an eye. The Blood Coffin Bearer paid them no mind any longer. He could never abide letting the half nascent True Demon Egg fall into Green Serpent’s possession. Stomping his foot hard enough to cave in the ground beneath him, he raced after the fleeing blackish-green serpent without delay. The ferocious battle descended into total chaos once more. The serpent moved with staggering speed. Moments later, it slithered into a vast hall, parted its massive jaws, and expelled Albert onto the stone floor.Albert tensed for combat, straining to suppress the malevolent aura gnawing at his left arm while bracing himself to strike out at any second.Just as he scrambled to plan his last-ditch counterattack, a slender pale hand stretched out from the serpent’s maw, clutching a sharp venomous fang. A graceful feminine figure then stepped forth from t
Chapter 1344
Meanwhile, within another section of the Palace of All Living Things, another team was hurrying forward at high speed.Abruptly, the group ground to a halt and lifted their gazes toward the distant northern sky, where a faint, faint signal had flared into view. One disciple from Tianyuan Ancient Academy’s eyes widened in shock the moment he spotted it, exclaiming loudly, “That’s Senior Ida’s distress signal! They’re under attack?!”Panic rippled through the rest of the group. If someone as powerful as Ida had been forced to call for help, their predicament must be dire indeed.A disciple turned to ask, “Brother Frank, should we rush over to provide aid? Or press on toward the Heavenly Ghost Altar first?”Every pair of eyes shifted toward the two figures leading their formation at the front. The pair consisted of a man and a woman — Frank and Emily, without a shred of doubt.Frank froze for a split second, his gaze flickering subtly. If Ida’s party was in trouble, that could only mean…
Chapter 1343
In the next instant, surging, powerful soul force burst skyward from countless figures, blooming into magnificent Heavenly Spirit Diagrams mid-air that drew upon the ambient heaven-and-earth energy. The other disciples who had reached the Perfected High Heavenly Spirit Realm unleashed their respective treasures, throwing their full strength into fending off the incoming black coffins.Terrifying ripples of energy rampaged across the area. Several of these Perfected High Heavenly Spirit Realm disciples were sent reeling with churning internal vital blood, overwhelmed by the sheer number of coffins bearing down on their formation.Thankfully, top-tier fighters including Ida and Toni moved instantly to intercept most of the coffins and ease the burden on the rest of the group.“Albert! Hand over my nascent True Demon Egg this instant!” A feral, maddened shriek echoed through the air as a streak of bloody light cut through the void — it was the Blood Coffin Bearer. His body writhed and co
Chapter 1342
It turns out those eerie processions hauling coffins on their backs belong to the Reunion Covenant, that unfathomably mysterious faction. One disciple cursed angrily. “They are supposed to be a human faction, yet they collude with fiendish abominations. They are utterly detestable!”Albert glanced down at his ghost arm. Strictly speaking, three and a half nascent True Demon Eggs had fallen into the hands of the Slaughter Ghost Unit and the Wraith Fiend Unit. That half egg was festering within his left arm.Ida pondered briefly before speaking in a grave tone. “Everyone, our top priority is to head straight for the Heavenly Ghost Altar and link up with the other teams. The Palace of All Living Things is rife with hidden dangers. Only by uniting our full strength can we stand a chance against the Wraith Fiend Unit and the Slaughter Ghost Unit.”No one raised any objections to this plan. The group set off without delay. Streaks of soul force surged into the air as they maintained formati
Chapter 1341
He instantly realized that Toni had rushed over after sensing the intense surges of light energy emanating from this spot.“Holy Thorns!” The moment Toni landed her feet, she caught sight of the Holy Thorns clutched in Albert’s hands, and her eyes instantly lit up with greed. As a bearer of a light elemental soul, she knew far better than most how immensely valuable and desirable this rare spiritual material truly was.Noticing the greedy glint in her gaze, Albert hastily stowed all the Holy Thorns inside his spatial orb.Toni froze for a split second, then spoke to Albert. “Name your price. Sell these Holy Thorns to me. Your light soul is merely a supporting soul; these treasures hold little practical value for you.”Albert shook his head firmly. “I can’t sell them. I have no use for them myself, but I intend to give them to Emily as a gift.”“For Emily?!”Toni gritted her teeth sharply upon hearing this. That infuriating woman always snatched everything she wanted for herself. Still
